WNXFA Press Release--A Warrior's Weekend

[Warrior Nation Press Release]

Keeping the momentum going, Warrior Nation Xtreme Fighters Alliance is set to roll back into the Hu Ke Lau Showroom Friday, November 9th, 2012. That said, I can’t move on until we take a quick look back to recognize and say thank you to some important people that make it all possible.

On Friday August 24th, Warrior Nation IV was a great night of fights and I’d like to thank all the teams, fighters, fans, and friends that came out to show their support. The opening match ended up being the Fight of the Night, as designated by our very capable team of media figures and one local pro fighter, “Notorious” Nick Newell.  Media figures in attendance included the Western Mass MMA crew with “Warchild”, “City Boy” Travis Sinclair, “The Boss” Jeremy Reipold and present but warming up in the fighter’s quarters for his ammy debut, was none other than “The Artist” Joe Leonard. This, complimented by Denny “Old School” Siggins of NortheastMMA.net and Jeffrey “The Killa” Watts from U.S. Combat Sports, rounded out the media talent. Recipients of the Fight of the Night Trophies were Ruso Kubejashvili out of Connor’s MMA who got the UD over a tough Walter Rodriguez fighting out of the Lion’s Den, Ct. These two put on quite an explosive show and definitely earned their respective trophies, which were specially ordered from Sean Rockwell and Prime Athletics. Chris Bourdeau of Bourdeau and Son’s Flooring and Chuck Martins of Chuck’s Signs did a great job continuing to support the local MMA community and this is greatly appreciated by both the promotion and it’s fans.

The WARRIOR NATION CAGE GIRLS, in my most professional opinion, KILLED IT! I continue to raise the bar and the girls keep meeting my expectations with regard to fitness, presentation, character, and representation. Valerie, Samantha, Megan, Ashley, and Kimberly have kept themselves finely tuned and I know firsthand that we all can appreciate that! Keep it up girls!

As always, our show had a concentrated fundraising effort and this was our annual tribute to the late Abimael “Abi” Mestre, who was taken suddenly in a motorcycle accident on April 11, 2011. Our 50/50 raffle concentrated efforts towards an annual memorial wrestling scholarship in Abi’s name. Fighting Arts Academy teammates, Nick Newell, Jeff Emil Haddad, Leon Davis and Head Coach, Jeremy Libiszewski were present and received gifts on behalf of the family and school. The after-party was held at Maximum Capacity Sports Bar and with the help of General Manager, Donnie Roberts, Warrior Nation and Max Cap were able to raise a total of $1000 for the scholarship fund. Abi’s close friend, Anibal Nieves, continues to maintain the oversight of the scholarship fund and awards distributed. Nieves, an accomplished wrestler and former Western New England Men’s Head Wrestling Coach, is now head of the STCC Woman’s Freestyle Wrestling Team and one of the founders of the Nieves Wrestling Club. In Abi’s memory, Nieves annually takes scholarship winners on an all expense paid trip to the Olympic Training Center in Salinas, Puerto Rico to compete in the Copa Sparta Wrestling Tournament. Abi was a 3x medalist, with his best ever finish winning him Gold. This year’s recipient, E. Longmeadow High School Senior, Jacob Strohaman, was awarded on the STCC Campus on September 12th and will head to Salinas in October with Nieves. We wish Nieves and his accomplished competitors safe travel and best of luck in the tournament.

Looking ahead we focus on our next event, Warrior Nation V, which I have unofficially titled “The Warrior’s Weekend.” Our 5th show kicks off a genuine “Warrior’s Weekend” on Friday, November 9th with transition right into the celebration of the 237th Marine Corps Birthday on November 10th and then in true Warrior fashion, honoring our Veterans both past and present as we celebrate Veteran’s Day on Sunday, November 11th. Keeping all this in perspective, our 50/50 raffle will focus all fundraising efforts on raising monies for the Wounded Warrior Project. Fighters looking to get on the card should message Jesse Camp direct via the contact tab at www.WarriorNationXFA.com Now, for a sneak peek into the official Warrior Nation V Main Card with these confirmed matches
