CES 'New Blood' 6/7/2013 Teaser

CES returns on Friday June 7th, 2013 with another star studded mixed martial arts show.  The event is set to take place at the Twin River Casino and should make for a great night of fights.  There are 10 professional fights and the tickets are still available here.  Jimmy Burchfield and the rest of the gang have worked hard behind the scenes putting this show together.  I would like to give a shout out to CES's matchmaker Pat Sullivan for always replying back to our emails rather quickly so we can have the latest and greatest fight card for CES.  This card that I am writing about today should be pretty close to final pending weigh in happenings so without further adieu here is the teaser...

Sophanarith (Soap) Am 0-0, Braintree, MA. vs. Carlos Hernandez 1-0, Lynn, MA.

Soap Am takes on Carlos Hernandez at 145lbs.  Soap had an awesome amateur career  with his only loss to Ray Woods.  He won the Premier FC 145lb tournament and also had a knockout win over Cory Pickering.  His last amateur fight of his career he won via tko to strikes over Brett Morris.  He will be ready for his pro debut and ready to impress the CES fans.  Carlos has a 1-0 record and won it via ref stoppage to strikes in Florida against John Gebbia.  This fight is a tough one for both fighters and should be a great way to kick off the night of fights.

Joe Reverdes 1-2, Providence, RI. vs. Joshua Aarons 1-4, Williamsport, PA.

Next up is Joe Reverdes against Joshua Aarons at 135lbs.  Joe comes into this fight with a 1-2 record.  He lost his first two fights with one to submission and other to strikes.  He then defeated Anthony Carmenatty via unanimous decision.  He is looking for the next 'W' to pull even with a record of .500.  Josh comes into this fight with a 1-4 record.  I found him on Sherdog but they are saying he is 0-6 and mixedmartialarts.com says he is 1-7 so not sure about the discrepancy there.  He has lost the majority of his fights to submissions and a few to decisions.  I predict this fight is going to go the distance and to a decision again.  Good luck to both fighters.

Brian Sparrow 0-0, Sandwich, MA. vs. Ruben Ortiz 0-0. Providence, RI.

Brian Sparrow takes on Ruben Ortiz for a double pro debut at 170lbs.  Brian trains with Pro Elite and is tutelaged under Scotty Rehm.  He had a stellar amateur record which I believe was 4-0 in which 3 of those wins were won by submission.  He also has knockout power in which Hiago Fontura found out and he won the Cage Titans title.  His opponent Ruben is also making his pro debut.  I wasn't able to find any info on Ruben so we will all have to wait and see.  If I was a betting man, my money would be on Brian winning his pro debut.

Tundee Oduyingho 0-0, Johnston, RI. vs. Eric Spicely 1-0, Providence, RI.

Tundee Oduyingho will be taking on Eric Spicely at 170lbs.  Tundee will be making his pro debut and is from Johnston Rhode Island.  Eric comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  He had a tough battle with Kemran Lachinov and won the decision.  This one should be a good ground battle.

Jeff Anderson 11-7, Lincoln, RI. vs. Nate Andrews 4-0, East Providence, RI.

Jeff Anderson will be facing Nate Andrews.  Jeff has a 11-7 record and fights out of RI.  The majority of his wins came via decision.  Also 4 of his losses came from a decision so he is tough to finish.  Nate has been on a tear and has an undefeated record of 4-0.  He has 2 KO/TKO and 2 Submission victories in his professional career.  I think this is going to be a great battle.  Nate is quickly moving up the ranks and is having a tough time getting opponents.  Due to that, he is taking on Jeff Anderson who has much more experience than him.  This one is just too close for me to predict how it is going to go down.

Andre Soukhamthath 4-1, RI. vs. Blair Tugman 5-4, Branford, CT.

Andre Soukhamthath is fighting Blair Tugman at 135lbs.  Dre trains with Triforce MMA and has a record of 4-1.  He has 3 KO/TKO victories and 1 SUB win.  His last fight he won against a very good grappler, Kurt Chase-Patrick.  His opponent Blair comes into this fight with a 5-4 record.  Blair hasn't fought since 2011 but that was for Bellator.  He has 3 Sub and 2 decision victories.  Out of his four losses he lost 3 to decision and 1 to submission.  The question in this fight is if cage rust will be a factor.  Andre knows how to get the crowd excited by using his striking and he has a huge fan following.  I expect this one to be an exciting one once again.

Pedro Gonzalez 8-5, Rockport, MA. vs. Sidemar Honario 8-3, Brazil/NJ

Pedro Gonzalez takes on Sidemar Honario at 135lbs.  Pedro comes into this fight with an 8-5 record.  The majority of his wins came via submissions.  For his losses he lost 3 submissions and 2 to decisions.  His last fight was against Dave LaChappelle in which he won with a guillotine in the second round at Coliseum to the Cage.  He showed some excellent striking and definitely looked to be back in tip top form.  His opponent Sidemar has an 8-3 record.  Sidemar is very well rounded and has 2 KO/TKO, 2 SUB and 4 decision victories.  He lost 1 SUB and 2 to decision in his professional career.  I feel this is another close match up for CES and is really tough to pick who has the edge.

Greg Rebello 15-4, Providence, RI. vs. Lewis Rumsey 8-8, Williamsport, PA.

Greg Rebello will square off with Lewis Rumsey.  Greg trains with Sityodtong and comes into this fight with 15-4. 8 of Greg's wins come by tko/ko and also 4 decisions.  His last fight he won against Jesse Peterson up in in Maine at New England Fights.  His opponent Lewis comes into this fight with an 8-8 record.  He has 4 KO/TKO and 4 Sub victories.  I think this is going to be a good ground battle and I doubt it is going to make it to a decision!

Chuck O'Neil 10-5, Bridgewater, MA. vs. Andrew Osborn 6-5, NC.

Chuck O'Neil takes on Andrew Osborn.  Chuck comes into this fight with a 10-5 record.  Chuck has 2 KO/TKO, 5 SUB and 3 decision victories so far in his mma career.  He was on The Ultimate Fighter a few seasons ago and I have been a fan ever since.  His opponent Andrew comes into this fight with a 6-5 record.  His nickname is "Ozzy" and the majority of his wins came via decisions.    Cold Steel always puts on an entertaining fight and this one should be as well.  I feel it is going to come down to a decision.

John Howard 19-7, Boston, MA. vs. Chris Woodall 12-3, Atlanta, GA.

The main event is between John Howard and Chris Woodall.  John trains with Wai Kru MMA and has a 19-7 record.  The UFC veteran is fresh off a big knockout victory over Jason Louck at the last CES MMA.  Doomsday is very well rounded and can win anyway and is riding a 5 fight win streak.  Chris comes into this fight from Georgia with a 12-3 record.  Chris has had many fights overseas and has won most of his fights via submissions.  It will most likely be in his best interest to take Doomsday to the ground if he gets the opportunity.  Don't blink on this one!

This wraps up the teaser for CES MMA.  It is going to be a great night of fights.  Warchild and I will be there capturing the action for you all so make sure to keep checking back for the live play by play.  I would like to thank CES for always keeping us in the loop.  Tickets are still available at the door and online so get your tickets if you haven't yet.  Also check out Johnny Rockets at the Twin River Casino and get your burger and fries!!
