NEF 'Nations Collide' 7/12/2013 Review

We are here at NEF at the Darling's Waterfront Pavillion in Bangor Maine.  This is the first MMA event ever in Bangor Maine and Bangor is very excited.  The tv crews for the local news stations have been here all day long.  The venue is outside and the VIP seating is up on the stage right where Daughtry performed a few nights ago.  The cage is set up in front of the stage and behind it is the NEF fans.  The place has filled up and the fans are ready.  John Vena is the announcer for the evening.  When you walk into the venue you can see the apparel vendors.  Kill Their Will, Suckerpunch Athletics, Occupy the Cage, Team Irish and Portland Hardcore.  The new NEF ring girl is looking great in her camo bikini and is doing a good job at getting the crowd pumped.  I just got word that the crowd is around 4000 people including Crowsneck walking around in a toga!  Let's get on with the fights!

The event was a great success.  The fights were great and the weather was even better.  This turned out to be the biggest attendance for NEF ever.  Way to go NEF and Bangor to pack the Waterfront with around 4000 NEF fans.  The bugs weren't too bad and the wet lawn dried up before the event so it all worked out.  I liked the canvas look for the cage.  NEF went with the canvas due to being an outside show and they didn't want it too wet and slippery for the fighters.  Young's MMA and Team Irish fighters all did an excellent job and won the majority of their fights for the evening.  Joe Palazio came up from Rhode Island and used his wrestling and takedowns to win the bloody battle against tough as nails Andrew Hughes.  I spoke with NEF promoters and they were very happy with the event and this could perhaps be an annual thing.  What do you think NEF fans??  NEF will be back on August 3rd in Biddeford Maine. Thanks to NEF and the crew for allowing us to cover the event.  It was totally worth the 5 hour drive!
