For NEF MMA's Jesse Erickson, Life Just Keeps Getting Better

[NEF Press Release]

Lewiston, Maine (September 4, 2013) – Don't tell Jesse Erickson (1-1) the American Dream is dead.  He won't believe you.  And why should he?  With a blossoming mixed martial arts (MMA) career, a recent marriage, a new home purchase, and a baby on the way, the New England Fights Mixed Martial Arts (NEF MMA) lightweight is the embodiment of the American Dream.

"The past year has been absolutely crazy for me," said Erickson.  "It just feels like everything has been happening all at once.  I married the love of my life, Nicole. We bought our first house. We just found out she's pregnant and we couldn't be happier. That's just in my personal life!  I also received my purple belt in Jiu Jitsu from my coach and mentor Travis Wells. I had the opportunity to fight for one of the biggest MMA organizations around, Bellator, and while I lost I learned a lot from it and came back strong in my second pro fight."

In that second pro fight at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston last May, Erickson submitted the always-tough Josh Parker (4-6) less than one minute into the first round.  Rather than rest on his laurels, Erickson signed to face Tunde Odumosu (0-1) of Rhode Island at NEF X on September 21 in Lewiston.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back in the NEF cage in a few weeks," Erickson continued.  "Tunde has knockout power but I have better grappling. My striking is getting better every day so I'm prepared for anything.  I'm in the best shape I've been in for a fight. I truly believe people will see the best of me and my CMBJJ (Central Maine Brazilian Jiu Jitsu of Auburn) teammates on September 21st."

"Jesse Erickson is one of our most popular and prolific fighters," stated NEF MMA co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson.  "I've known Jesse for a few years now and it's been a pleasure to watch his career develop here in NEF MMA.  He has become a real fixture on our cards."

"I've fought on more NEF cards than anyone except (John) Raio," said Erickson.  "I believe we have both fought on seven.  I'm not slowing down anytime soon either. As long as I'm healthy I'll be in that cage every chance I get.  Thanks as always to NEF for giving me the opportunity to fight for them!"
