Undefeated CJ Ewer Looks for Fourth Straight Victory in Lewiston on November 9

[NEF Press Release]

Lewiston, Maine (October 31, 2013) –New England Fights Mixed Martial Arts (NEF MMA) returns to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on November 9, 2013 with the fight promotion's "NEF XI" event.  Among other contests, the fight card will feature a 165-pound catchweight amateur bout between CJ Ewer (3-0) and Wayne Ahlquist (2-5).

"It's such an overused clichรฉ in the sport, but CJ Ewer is a 'beast' in every sense of the word," said NEF co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson.  "He's a powerhouse, and he's got a bright future ahead of him in the fight game.  And he's with the team that can take him to the top."

That team is Bangor, Maine's Young's MMA.  Under the guidance of head coach Chris Young, the Young's camp has produced NEF MMA professional stars such as "THE" Ryan Sanders (5-4), Damon "The Omen" Owens (2-0), Bruce "Pretty Boy" Boyington (3-6) and current Maine State Featherweight Champion Ray "All Business" Wood (4-0).

"I enjoy completing in the NEF," said Ewer, "and feel very fortunate to be able to have a gym like Young's MMA in my corner."

Having made his debut this past July in Bangor at "NEF VIII Nations Collide: Canadian Invasion," Ewer has been on a tear through the NEF MMA amateur ranks, racking up three victories with the promotion in a span of just two months.  The first victory, in Bangor, was a unanimous decision win over Steve Erland (1-2).  It was a close fight that saw both athletes trying to grind out a victory on the mat.

Just three weeks after his successful debut, Ewer returned to the cage at "NEF IX" to defeat Steven Fontaine (0-1) in Biddeford, Maine, this time via second round submission.  Not one to rest on his laurels, Ewer was back in the NEF MMA cage a few weeks later at "NEF X" where he chalked-up an impressive second-round technical knockout (TKO) victory over the always-tough Crowsneck Boutin (3-5).  On November 9 in Lewiston, Ewer will look to make Ahlquist his fourth victim in as many months.  Ahlquist is a veteran of the New England amateur ranks, fighting out of Lakes Region Vale Tudo in Laconia, New Hampshire.

"From the footage I watched, he seems to be a really tough kid who is not afraid to get in there and do battle," said Ewer of Ahlquist.

NEF MMA’s next event, “NEF XI,” is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine with a bell time of 7:00 pm.  Maine State MMA Bantamweight Champion Paul Gorman (9-8) is scheduled to defend his title that night against Tateki Matsuda (8-4).  John Ortolani (7-7) will meet Tony Christodoulou (9-4) for the vacant Maine State Lightweight Championship.  Tickets start at just $10 and are on sale now at www.TheColisee.com or by calling The Colisee box office at 207.783.2009 x 525.
