Portland, Maine (September 29, 2021) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, “NEF 45: Uprising,” on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Aura in Portland, Maine. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of a professional catchweight bout to the fight card. Zac Richard is scheduled to meet Carl Langston at a fight weight of 140 pounds.
The fight will be the pro debut for Zac Richard who put together a record of 6-3-1 as an amateur. He is a former NEF Amateur Lightweight Champion, having defeated Mike Murray (3-2) for the strap in November 2019 at “NEF 41.” Richard’s only loss to date in the NEF cage came at “NEF 38” at the hands of Tom Pagliarulo (2-0). Before competing in MMA, Richard was a success on the wrestling mats. He won a state title in 2015 as a senior wrestling for Massabesic High School in Waterboro, Maine. Richard currently represents Evolution Athletix based in Saco, Maine.
“I had a very active amateur career,” noted Richard. “Had some ups and had some downs, but November 5th we start fresh again. I’m very excited to make the step up to the pros, and I’m sure Carl and I will give the fans a show.”
Carl Langston is a longtime veteran of the NEF cage, having made his debut with the promotion at “NEF 11” in November 2013. Prior to competing in MMA, Langston was a practitioner of taekwondo for which he won a silver medal in 1999 and a gold medal in 2000 in the Junior Olympics. His most recent fight was at “NEF 42” in Portland – a loss to Jacob Deppmeyer (2-0). Langston represents Young’s MMA of Bangor, Maine.
“We all know I have every tool to finish him,” said Langston. “I just gots to show up mentally and I will. This time off has allowed me to really focus on the mental part of the sport and come November 5th, I’m cashing in and getting my hand raised. There really isn’t much to say. Everyone knows my talent, so it’s just time to go out there and put it all together.”
