Auburn, Maine (April 22, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 47: The Battle of L/A” on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, Maine. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur middleweight bout to the card. David McCarty (1-1) is scheduled to meet David Burke (0-0) at a fight weight of 185 pounds.
David McCarty will make his third appearance in the NEF cage in as many events. It took McCarty a mere 38 seconds to win his amateur debut at “NEF 45” last November with a technical knockout over Danny Dray (0-1). At “NEF 46” in February, he took on the more experienced Jeff Reynolds (3-2) and came out on the losing end via submission. McCarty will look to get back on the winning track on May 14. He currently represents Titan Athletics based in Brewer, Maine.
"I'm anxious to get back into the cage,” stated McCarty. “I'm hoping I can bring some excitement and not disappoint the NEF fans. I truly appreciate all the support I've received since starting this journey."
26-year-old David Burke is scheduled to make his amateur debut in the bout with McCarty. Burke has a background in wrestling and won a New Hampshire state championship competing in the sport his senior year of high school. Burke represents Nostos MMA based in Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC veteran, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (10-5).
"I'm looking forward to my debut against David McCarty,” said Burke. “I'm excited to showcase my skill set and everything I've learned while training at Nostos. Getting into the cage has been something I've wanted to do for a long time, so I plan on making the most out of this opportunity."
