📰 NEWS--📰 WOMEN’S BANTAMWEIGHT BOUT ANNOUNCED FOR MMA PORTION OF NEF 54 CARD

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (August 17, 2023) – New England Fights and Boston Boxing Promotions present “NEF 54: A Fight at the Opera” on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland.  A full pro boxing card will take place beginning at 5 pm immediately followed by a full MMA card.  Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur women’s MMA bantamweight bout to the card.  Amanda Ferreira (2-0) will take on Bryanna Power (0-0) at a fight weight of 135 pounds.

Undefeated Amanda Ferreira emerged onto the local fight scene in 2019 as a kickboxer.  She went 2-0 in kickboxing with both wins coming by way of decision.  Earlier this year, she made her MMA debut with a technical knockout victory over Lindsey Kelley (2-2).  She followed up that win with another this past spring by unanimous decision on a fight card in Nova Scotia.  Ferreira represents Gorilla Crew based in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.

“I’ve worked my ass off this camp and can’t wait to showcase the progression of my skillset,” noted Ferreira. “I’m hungry and ready to put on a show for the NEF fans.”

Bryanna Power will make her official amateur MMA debut at “NEF 54” in the fight with Ferreira.  Power is no newcomer to combat sports.  She holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  Power trains at The Academy in Portland, Maine under legendary MMA pioneers Jay Jack and Amanda Buckner.

"I am excited to make my debut on September 2nd with NEF,” said Power.  “I have watched many of my teammates fight MMA and be an inspiration to myself. I have been training hard with help from my coach and fight team at The Academy. I'm looking forward to competing at the next level."

“NEF 54: A Fight at the Opera” takes place on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland, Maine.  A professional boxing card will be presented first by Boston Boxing Promotions immediately followed by an MMA card by New England Fights.  Doors are scheduled to open at 4 pm with first fight taking place at 5 pm.  Tickets to “NEF 54” are available now at www.porttix.com.

📰 NEWS--📰 FERREIRA READY TO COME FULL FORCE AT NEF 50

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (October 10, 2022)

Massachusetts mixed martial artist Amanda Ferreira is just about the right age to have learned everything she knows about the circle of life from “The Lion King.” These days, however, Ferreira, 24, receives an object lesson in that concept every time the alarm clock rings.

She’s busy building multiple careers while raising a 3-year-old, Kaiden, who is already every bit the gym rat Ferreira has been since her own childhood. In fact, Kaiden is the exact same age as Amanda when she made her first foray into combat sports.

“I’ve been doing martial arts since I was three,” Ferreira said. “I’m a black belt in Kenpo Karate, so I did that from about three to 13. Then I took up boxing and then kickboxing and then MMA. I don’t think it was planned to happen. I think it just kind of followed in suit.”

📰 NEWS--📰 WOMEN’S FIGHT ANNOUNCED FOR NEF 50 IN PORTLAND

[NEF PRESS RELEASE] Portland, Maine (October 3, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns to Aura in Portland, Maine on Saturday, November 12, 2022, with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 50.” Earlier today the fight promotion announced the addition of a women’s amateur catchweight bout to the card. Cassidy Bedard (1-0) will face Amanda Ferreira (0-0) at a fight weight of 140 pounds.

Cassidy Bedard’s MMA debut at “NEF 47” last spring was one of the wildest and most bizarre contests in the promotion’s 10-year history. Bedard took on Michelle MacDavid (0-1) in what looked more like a streetfight than an MMA bout. Bedard got a chunk of her hair pulled out and there were accusations of biting before MacDavid was disqualified for eye gouging. Despite the actions of her opponent, Bedard maintained her composure for three rounds and showcased her skills. She is a member of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu based in Lewiston, Maine.
