Portland, Maine (August 9, 2023) – New England Fights and Boston Boxing Promotions present “NEF 54: A Fight at the Opera” on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland. A full pro boxing card will take place beginning at 5 pm immediately followed by a full MMA card. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur light heavyweight bout to the card. Brandon Oldenburg (0-2) will meet Logan Bond (2-2) at a fight weight of 205 pounds.
Brandon Oldenburg will make his third trip to the NEF cage on September 2nd. He is in search of his first win after back-to-back losses at “NEF 45” and “NEF 49.” The fight with Bond will be Oldenburg’s first in nearly a year. He currently represents Titan Athletics based in Brewer, Maine.
“I’m beyond grateful to have the opportunity to get back in the cage,” said Oldenburg. “It’s been a long year since my last fight and a lot has changed. Logan is a big, strong, tough kid and will make a great test for my own toughness and strength! I’ve got a lot to prove and a ton of support behind me as well as some huge motivation this time around! Rowell Strong!”
Logan Bond made his first appearance in the NEF cage last month at “NEF 53” with an impressive stoppage of David McCarty (1-4) in the first round. He has previously competed on regional cards throughout the Northeast. Bond represents Ascension Athletics based in Bristol, CT.
“I don’t really know anything about Brandon,” said Bond, “but he seems like someone who trains fighting for sure so I’m always expecting a tough fight. I’m excited! It should be a good ol’ time for everyone!”
“NEF 54: A Fight at the Opera” takes place on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland, Maine. A professional boxing card will be presented first by Boston Boxing Promotions immediately followed by an MMA card by New England Fights. Portland, Maine (June 27, 2023) – New England Fights returns to Merrill Auditorium in Portland with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, “NEF 53: American Valor,” on Saturday, July 8, 2023. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur light heavyweight bout to the card. David McCarty (1-3) will take on Logan Bond (1-2) at a fight weight of 205 pounds.
A four-fight veteran of the NEF cage, David McCarty will officially compete in the light heavyweight division for the first time after floating between middleweight and heavyweight. McCarty was impressive in his amateur debut against Danny Dray (0-1) at “NEF 45” in November 2021, knocking Dray out just 38 seconds into the first round. He has been on a three-fight skid since and looking to get back in the win column. McCarty represents Titan Athletics based in Brewer, Maine.
"We didn't really have much to go on with this one,” noted McCarty, “but I'm looking forward to getting back in the cage!”
Logan Bond will make his first appearance with NEF on July 8. He has competed three times previously with three different regional promotions. He is looking to rebound from a loss last spring on a fight card in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bond represents Ascension Athletics based in Connecticut.
“I think I’m gonna have a swell ole’ time,” exclaimed Bond. “And like David, I don’t have to cut to 185 this time! NEF has looked great to compete for, and I’ve heard only good things about them. Should be a good one!”
