[NEF PRESS RELEASE]
Portland, Maine (June 30, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 48: Heatwave” on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine. The event will be NEF’s first outdoor event since “NEF 8” in 2013. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur lightweight bout to the card. Zach Faulkner (4-2) is set to face Bobby Kelley (2-3) at a weight of 155 pounds.
Zach Faulkner made his amateur debut at “NEF 30” in August 2017 with an impressive second-round submission of David Hart (1-4). Shortly thereafter, Faulkner moved from Maine to North Carolina where he had his next three amateur fights. He returned to the New England circuit last summer at “NEF 44” with a unanimous decision win over Curtis Ouellette (3-3). At “NEF 46” earlier this year, Faulkner challenged for the promotion’s amateur welterweight title against Mike Murray (4-2). He would lose via split decision in a back-and-forth battle. Faulkner will look to get back on the winning track in the fight with Kelley at “NEF 48.” He currently represents Recon Fitness based in Westbrook, Maine.
