[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Bangor, Maine (February 28, 2024) – New England Fights (“NEF”) presents its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 57: All the Smoke,” on April 20, 2024, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional women’s strawweight bout to the card.  Glory Watson (6-1) has signed to meet Ana Martinez (3-3) at a fight weight of 115 pounds.

Glory “The Fury” Watson has had a storied fight career with NEF over the course of the last six years.  She had an amateur record of 6-1 and captured the NEF Amateur Women’s Flyweight Championship.  Watson turned pro in 2021.  She is currently riding a six-fight win streak including thrilling victories over the likes of Hilarie Rose (6-7), Gabriella Gulfin (5-5), and Natalie Schlesinger (2-2).  Watson is expected to get the call up to the next level of the sport at any time now. “Every time I step into the cage, I face a different set of challenges,” exclaimed Watson. “On April 20th, my next challenge is in the form of Ana Martinez. Martinez has shown that she isn’t afraid to stand and bang! I am excited to show off more of my skills against a tough athlete! This is going to be an amazing show with some of the best fans in regional MMA. New England Fights has been my home for the past six years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to fight for the promotion once again. 📰 NEWS--📰GLORY WATSON: “I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SPORT. IT’S MY FAVORITE THING THAT I’VE EVER DONE”

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

 Bangor, Maine (October 18, 2023)

Maine has long been ahead of the curve in the category of embracing and elevating its most exceptional female athletes. Perhaps the greatest evidence is rooted within a short radius of Bangor, Maine.

For decades inside the venerable, v-roofed Bangor Auditorium and its bustling descendant, Cross Insurance Center, the legendary likes of Cindy Blodgett and Amy Vachon starred on the court and later have been lauded as hall of fame basketball players.

Their personalities and performances held such sway that spectators converged in droves to celebrate their every move, sometimes double or triple the number that would attend the men’s high school and college games in the same arenas.

Another gifted women’s athlete has arisen from that cradle of champions along the banks of the Penobscot River, and Glory Watson’s rabid fan base has honored her as a similar superstar in regional circles.

“On November 11th, I make the walk into the MMA cage as a professional for the seventh time,” exclaimed Watson. “It’s hard to believe that I’ve been competing in mixed martial arts for only five years and I’m grateful to be where I am. After a short break away to take care of myself and my body, I am beyond ready to step back into the NEF cage!

📰 NEWS--📰GLORY WATSON: “THE END GAME IS DEFINITELY TO MAKE IT AS FAR AS I POSSIBLY CAN”

[NEF PRESS RELEASE] Auburn, Maine (April 28, 2022)

Born into a large family, surrounded by a community with a rich sports tradition and countless age-old rivalries, Glory Watson never needed to venture far from home to quench a lifelong thirst for competition.

Those aspects of her personality have kept shining through four years of consistent triumph in the New England Fights mixed martial arts cage, although one reward for which Watson doesn’t have to compete is the adulation of fans in her neck of the woods.

Although those folks likely would gravitate toward Watson, her 10,000-watt smile and inspiring nature anyhow, they’re a captive audience: Watson, of Brewer, is the only active female professional practitioner of MMA in her native Maine.

Watson (2-1), coming off a second-round stoppage of previously undefeated Alibeth Milliron out of Michigan in February, will confront New Jersey’s Natalie Schlesinger in a strawweight bout at NEF 47: “The Battle of L/A” on Saturday, May 14. Opening bell time at Norway Savings Bank Arena is set for 7 p.m.

🚨BREAKING--🚨GLORY WATSON’S NEXT FIGHT ANNOUNCED FOR NEF 47

[NEF Press Release]

Auburn, Maine (March 28, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 47: The Battle of L/A” on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, Maine.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of women’s professional strawweight fight to the card.  Glory “The Fury” Watson (2-1) will square off with Natalie “Nattie Ice” Schlesinger (1-0) at a fight weight of 115 pounds.

Watson is coming off a huge win last month, handing Alibeth Milliron (2-1) the first loss of her professional career at “NEF 46” in Portland, Maine.  Watson dominated from bell to bell in a complete performance showcasing her striking, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu. She choked Milliron unconscious to finish the fight in the second round.  It was Watson’s second win in a row after losing her pro MMA debut last March.  It was also her second professional win by submission.  Watson represents Young’s MMA based in Bangor, Maine.

“My last fight was an evolutionary step in my fight game,” said Watson. “I found my passion and brought it into the cage. I am looking forward to showcasing the progress I have continued to make since that moment. I am grateful to be home in Maine for back-to-back fights, close to family, friends and fans. As always, I am thankful to my opponent for accepting the fight and showing she is game for anything. This fight camp is in full swing and I am ready for fight night.”

Natalie Schlesinger will make the trek to Maine from New Jersey for the fight with Watson. After a successful amateur career that saw her put together a record of 5-3, Schlesinger was victorious in her pro debut last summer via unanimous decision.  She is an accomplished jiu-jitsu practitioner, currently holding the rank of purple belt.  Schlesinger trains out of Driven Gym in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity to be fighting in such a great promotion,” stated Schlesinger.  “I’ve been training so hard since my last fight.  I can’t wait to show what I’ve been working on and put on a great show for the fans. These next two months I’ll be training hard and ready to pull off an upset on enemy territory come May 14th.”

“NEF 47: The Battle of L/A” takes place on May 14, 2022, at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, Maine.  Tickets for the event are on sale now at www.NewEnglandFights.com/Tickets/.  The event will be the promotion’s first in Lewiston-Auburn since June 2019.

BREAKING--GLORY WATSON TO COMPETE IN MAINE FOR THE FIRST TIME AS A PROFESSIONAL

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (December 9, 2021) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, “NEF 46: Decade of Dominance,” on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Aura in Portland, Maine. The event will commemorate NEF’s ten-year anniversary. The leading regional promotion launched on February 11, 2012. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of a professional flyweight bout to the fight card. Former NEF Amateur Flyweight Champion Glory Watson (1-1) is scheduled to face Michigan’s Alibeth Milliron (2-0) at a fight weight of 115-pounds.

Glory “The Fury” Watson last appeared in the NEF cage in August 2021 at “NEF 44: Back In Black” in Milford, New Hampshire. That night, Watson competed in a professional kickboxing bout against Dana White’s Contender Series veteran and former NEF Amateur Strawweight Champion Hilarie Rose (5-3). Watson lost a decision to Rose. In March of this year, Watson lost her professional MMA debut in Florida. Glory got back on the winning track in October when she won via first round submission against Rebecca Bryggman (0-2) in New York. Watson represents Young’s MMA.

“I can’t wait to fight back in my home state,” Watson stated. “The best part about being back home will be fighting in front of my friends, family and hometown fans. The beginning of my professional career did not start the way I would have liked. That being said, I am looking at every fight as a new challenge and an opportunity to be the best. This fight is another steppingstone towards the top. I expect Milliron to come out and be ready for a fight. I am not an easy fight and I know only a game opponent would step up. So, I’m ready for something big. 2022 is my year and I am ready to show the world.”

Ali “Overtime” Milliron is perfect so far in her professional MMA career. After finishing her amateur run with an impressive 7-3 record, the Michigan-based fighter turned professional in 2018. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) Blue Belt has stopped both of her opponents since moving into the pro ranks. She represents Ludus Mixed Martial Arts.

“I’m thrilled to be making that next walk to the cage for NEF in Portland, Maine against Glory Watson,” Milliron stated. “I have a feeling this one is going to be a banger and I can’t wait till that cage door closes and we can put on a show.”

“NEF 46: Decade of Dominance” takes place on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Aura in Portland, Maine.  The event will commemorate NEF’s ten-year anniversary. Doors open at 6 pm with first fight at 7 pm.  Tickets are on sale now at www.Ticketmaster.com.
