[NEF Press Release]
Portland, Maine (December 13, 2023) – New England Fights will present its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 56: Satori” on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Aura in Portland. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional middleweight bout to the card. David Burke (0-0) will take on Jeff Reynolds (1-1) at a fight weight of 185 pounds.
The contest will feature the pro debut for David Burke who put together a record of 3-2 while competing as an amateur. Burke made his amateur debut with NEF in the spring of 2022, knocking out David McCarty (1-4) in a mere 19 seconds. Most recently, he challenged for the NEF Amateur Welterweight Championship at “NEF 54” last September against Devin Corson (5-1). Burke represents Nostos MMA based in Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC veteran and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion Devin Powell (10-5).
“I couldn’t be more excited for my first professional fight,” said Burke. “I respect Jeff for taking the fight, but as always I’ll head into the cage with a job to do: get the finish. For me, it’s kill or be killed once I step in that cage. And more than anything, I’m just excited to get into a fist fight. I was meant to fight and it feels great doing what I am meant to be doing.”
Jeff Reynolds will step into the NEF cage for the third time in his MMA career at “NEF 56.” Reynolds first appeared with the promotion as an amateur at “NEF 46” where he submitted David McCarty in the first round. He would return to the promotion as a pro last September at “NEF 54,” defeating Mike Murray (0-1) by technical knockout in the first round. Reynolds represents Karasu Tengu Academy based in Nashua, New Hampshire.
“It feels good to be back fighting for NEF once again,” said Reynolds. “NEF always puts on great shows and I love to be a part of it. I have a tough opponent in front of me that I will make sure I’m well prepared for. A fight like this one is what makes this sport so fun to watch.”
Doors will open at 6 pm with first fight taking place at 7 pm on February 3 at Aura in Portland, Maine for “NEF 56: Satori.” Tickets are on sale now at www.TicketMaster.com.

Portland, Maine (August 8, 2023) – New England Fights and Boston Boxing Promotions present “NEF 54: A Fight at the Opera” on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland. A full pro boxing card will take place beginning at 5 pm immediately followed by a full MMA card. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur MMA welterweight championship bout to the card. David Burke (3-1) is scheduled to meet Devin Corson (4-1) for the vacant 170-pound strap.
The title was previously held by Kyle Hill (4-0) who vacated the belt on his decision to turn pro earlier this year. As Hill’s teammate at Nostos MMA in Somersworth, New Hampshire, Burke will look to keep the title in the Nostos camp. All three of Burke’s previous wins have come by way of first-round stoppage. He is a perfect 2-0 in the NEF cage with victories over David McCarty (1-4) and Ryan Fredette (0-1) last year at “NEF 47” and “NEF 48” respectively. Burke trains under UFC veteran and former NEF Pro Lightweight Champion Devin Powell.
“I can’t wait to be back at home in the NEF cage,” noted Burke. “It’s been too long since I’ve been able to do what I do in front of the Maine fight fans. Get ready for a good one!”

David Burke didn’t even give spectators to his New England Fights (NEF) mixed martial arts (MMA) debut long enough to purchase the popcorn they might have spilled all over the place in stunned appreciation of his fistic prowess.
An accomplished wrestler in a not-too-distant combat sports life, Burke unleashed a barrage of blows to the head of David McCarty and notched a knockout only 19 seconds after the opening bell of NEF’s May card.
“I knew I had it in me,” Burke said. “The game plan was to take him down, overwhelm him and just not give him a chance to have any success at all. That was really what we were looking for the whole time, just that early takedown and get him out of there.”
Burke, fighting out of the ever-growing stable at Nostos MMA in Somersworth, New Hampshire, isn’t shy about saying he wants a longer, stronger workout for his next challenge.

Portland, Maine (June 23, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 48: Heatwave” on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine. The event will be NEF’s first outdoor event since “NEF 8” in 2013. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur middleweight bout to the card. David Burke (1-0) is scheduled to meet Ryan Fredette (0-0) at a weight of 185 pounds.
David Burke made an impressive debut at “NEF 47” last month in Auburn, Maine with a first round technical knockout of David McCarty (1-2). It took Burke a mere 19 seconds to put McCarty away. He currently trains at Nostos MMA in Somersworth, New Hampshire under the guidance of UFC and Bellator veteran, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (10-5).

Auburn, Maine (April 22, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 47: The Battle of L/A” on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, Maine. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur middleweight bout to the card. David McCarty (1-1) is scheduled to meet David Burke (0-0) at a fight weight of 185 pounds.
David McCarty will make his third appearance in the NEF cage in as many events. It took McCarty a mere 38 seconds to win his amateur debut at “NEF 45” last November with a technical knockout over Danny Dray (0-1). At “NEF 46” in February, he took on the more experienced Jeff Reynolds (3-2) and came out on the losing end via submission. McCarty will look to get back on the winning track on May 14. He currently represents Titan Athletics based in Brewer, Maine.
"I'm anxious to get back into the cage,” stated McCarty. “I'm hoping I can bring some excitement and not disappoint the NEF fans. I truly appreciate all the support I've received since starting this journey."
