 No matter how many states in which a fighter has lived or different gyms in which he has exchanged sweat and blood, the first time in a mixed martial arts (MMA) cage brings a different and unprecedented level of apprehension.

 ‘Skelton’ Key Baltazar experienced those realities in February when the New Hampshire fighter by way of Florida lost all track of time in the opening round of his New England Fights (NEF) debut against Quinn Poirier.

Portland, Maine (July 5, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 48: Heatwave” on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine.  The event will be NEF’s first outdoor event since “NEF 8” in 2013.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur bantamweight bout to the card.  Key Baltazar (1-0) is scheduled to face Hannon Sanford (0-2) at a weight of 135 pounds.

 Key Baltazar made his amateur debut earlier this year at “NEF 46” in Portland.  That evening he submitted Quinn Poirier (0-1) with a rear-naked choke in the second round.  Baltazar comes from a wrestling background in his native Florida.  He currently represents Nostos MMA based in Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC and Bellator veteran, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (10-5).

 “They say pressure makes diamonds and I’m ready to shine,” said Baltazar. “Expect a dominant victory.”
