📰 NEWS--📰MORRIS AND MURRAY SCHEDULED FOR FLYWEIGHT BRAWL AT “NEF 53”

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (June 30, 2023) – New England Fights returns to Merrill Auditorium in Portland with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, “NEF 53: American Valor,” on Saturday, July 8, 2023.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur flyweight bout to the card.  Alex Morris (1-1) will meet Timm Murray (1-1) at a fight weight of 125 pounds.

Alex “The Alley Cat” Morris is an even .500 in the NEF cage.  He debuted at “NEF 48” in the summer of 2022 with a first-round technical knockout of Quinn Poirier (0-3) in what was a gritty slugfest while it lasted.  Morris returned to the cage last month at “NEF 52” to face Qasim Abdulla (2-0).  He lost a decision in a hard-fought contest.  Morris represents Nostos MMA based in Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC veteran and former NEF Pro Lightweight Champion Devin Powell (10-5).

“I’m looking forward to getting back on the winning side of things and set myself up for an exciting, fight-filled year in 2024,” said Morris.

Timm “The Fighting Chef” Murray will step into the NEF cage for the third time on July 8.  It has been nearly two years since his last fight at “NEF 44” in Milford, New Hampshire.  Murray lost his amateur debut to Randall Hathorn (1-2) at “NEF 42.”  He rebounded with a leg kick knockout of Giuliano Rossi (0-2) in the summer of 2021.  Murray represents Primo Bellarosa’s VisionQuest Muay Thai based in Pittsfield, Maine.

“It’s been a couple of years since my last fight. It feels like much longer than that,” noted Murray. “However, I have had the ability to spend more time at VisionQuest, with the team and Primo’s coaching second to none. We have evolved so much as a team and it’s an honor to share the cage with them on July 8th.”

“NEF 53: American Valor” takes place on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland, Maine.  Doors are scheduled to open at 6 pm with first fight taking place at 7 pm.  Tickets to “NEF 53” are available now at www.porttix.com.

BREAKING--TIMM “THE FIGHTING CHEF” MURRAY TO RETURN AGAINST NEWCOMER POIRIER AT NEF 46

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (December 13, 2021) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, “NEF 46: Decade of Dominance,” on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Aura in Portland, Maine. The event will commemorate NEF’s ten-year anniversary. The leading regional promotion launched on February 11, 2012. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur flyweight bout to the fight card. Timm “The Fighting Chef” Murray (1-1) is scheduled to face Quinn Poirier (0-0) at a fight weight of 125-pounds.

Timm Murray made his NEF debut in February 2020 at “NEF 42: Symphony of Destruction” in Portland, Maine. Murray lost his debut via TKO to Randall Hathorn (1-2). In an interesting twist, after their bout, Murray and Hathorn moved into the same training camp and both now train under Primo Bellarosa at Vision Quest Muay Thai in Newport, Maine.

Murray returned to the NEF cage in August 2021 at “NEF 44: Back in Black” in Milford, New Hampshire. That night, it took Murray just one minute and 20-seconds of the first round to finish his opponent, Giuliano Rossi (0-2), with vicious leg kicks. Murray promises to show NEF fans even further development in his upcoming fight with Poirier.

“It’s an honor to be back and compete on the ten-year card for NEF,” Murray stated. “My last time in the cage, I picked up the win. I can’t wait to get back in there to utilize other skill sets Coach Primo has equipped us with at Vision Quest. We constantly grow stronger under his guidance. At the end of the day, everyone who steps in there is a modern-day gladiator. I have respect for Quinn. But my cause is greater.”

Quinn Poirier will make his NEF debut representing First Class MMA. Poirier studies martial arts under longtime NEF competitor John Raio in his Brunswick, Maine training facility. Poirier believes he is poised to make an impression on both his opponent and NEF fans on February 12th.

“I’m excited to make my NEF debut, especially on the ten-year anniversary card,” Poirier stated. “I’m looking to go out and put people on notice for my first fight.”

“NEF 46: Decade of Dominance” takes place on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Aura in Portland, Maine.  The event will commemorate NEF’s ten-year anniversary. Doors open at 6 pm with first fight at 7 pm.  Tickets are on sale now at www.Ticketmaster.com.
