Taylor Trahan brings it up a Notch

[Gladius NH Press Release]

Little known Featherweight Taylor Trahan has toiled away with nearly twenty fights, flying mostly off the main stream of NorthEast MMA radar.  But he won his last four Amateur fights and his Pro debut, and now he is ready to bring his game to the next level.

When Mixed Martial Arts promotion Gladius Fights makes its New England debut on June 29, the Notre Dame Ice Arena in Berlin, NH will play host to Gladius VI.  The featured fight of the Pro card will see NH/Vermont local Taylor Trahan, in just his second Pro fight, taking on Amran Aliyev from Team Bombsquad.  Team Bombsquad was voted by NorthEastMMA.net as the top Mixed Martial Arts team in New England and New York and has produced dozens of UFC and Bellator veterans.  “I just don’t want to pad my record with easy fights,” Taylor told me in a recent interview.

At the age of 12 (or so), a young Taylor first watched MMA on television.  “That’s when I first wanted to do this,” he said.  Taylor grew up and lived in Littleton, NH for the first twelve years of his life, before his family moved over the state line to Vermont.  “Yeah, I was born in the old Littleton hospital.  My dad’s business is in Littleton, NH.  Berlin is right in our back yard.  I can’t wait to fight in Berlin!”

Gladius Fights VI Comes to New Hampshire

[Gladius Promotions Press Release]

On June 29th, Gladius Fights will bring their sixth installment to the Notre Dame Ice Arena in Berlin, NH.  Gladius CEO Ryan Ciotoli and his crew have been running Mixed Martial Arts events in Up-State and Western New York for nearly a year now, and this will be the promotion’s first foray outside of the Empire State.  Gladius held their first event in September of 2012, a Pro-Am fight card, at the Cattaragus Indian Reservation in Irving, NY.  The next few Gladius events were all-Amateur events held in Ithaca and Rochester New York.  “We’ve been looking forward to coming to New England,” said Ciotoli.  “That has been a part of our plan since the beginning.”

North Country MMA personality Greg Williams has come on to the Gladius team as the local promotional representative.  He has been working with the Gladius matchmaker, Northern NH business community, the Notre Dame event center, and the entire Gladius staff to ensure a smooth transition for Gladius from the rural hills of Up-State New York to the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  Williams is the owner of Kaze Dojo, a local MMA camp located in Lisbon, NH.  “My dream has been to bring combat sports to the North Country,” said Williams, and that dream will come to fruition in Berlin on June 29th!

Gladius 9/22/2012 Results

[Press Release from Gladius Fights for the info and the awesome pictures]

IRVING, New York -- Don Carlo-Clauss almost never gets to fight in his own backyard, so their was added pressure to win and to win big at Gladius Fights on Sept. 22. Carlo-Clauss shared top billing with Eddie Fyvie on one of the biggest events to hit New York all year and pulled out a solid win after pushing through a rough first round opposite a jiu-jitsu black belt with a significant reach advantage.
Fyvie worked a stiff jab early in the fight and stunned Carlo-Clauss with a hard right cross that he sat down on. It didn’t drop him, but the punch did cause Carlo-Clauss to abandon his standup for a minute and look for a takedown. Once on the ground, Fyvie tied him up well. He landed elbows, up kicks and had a very strong armbar attempt at the end of the opening round.
