📰 NEWS--📰ORMSBY: “I’VE TAKEN ON THE TOUGHEST OF THE TOUGHEST. I’VE NEVER SAID NO TO A FIGHT”

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

 Bangor, Maine (October 22, 2023)

The opposite of a snowbird who flees the north for warmer climes in late autumn, Shawna Lee Ormsby is as eager to leave Orlando, Florida, for an early November vacation in Bangor, Maine, as she is to fight hometown hero Glory Watson in a mixed martial arts crossroads bout.

“This is one of the places and states that I’ve been eager to visit, so the fact that I get to compete there is just even cooler,” Ormsby said. “I appreciate untouched nature, and I’ve just heard such beautiful things about the place. I’m originally from Buffalo, so being upstate and cold, I’m used to that. I’ve always heard that it’s beautiful up there, and I appreciate that kind of stuff.”

Her love for animals and their natural habitat notwithstanding, the 31-year-old Ormsby (2-4) also is more serious about her combat sports career than ever. Taking the call from New England Fights (NEF) to be part of a main event was a no-brainer even if they told her the fight was in an Iowa cornfield or Wyoming rodeo barn.

📰 NEWS--📰 WATSON AND ORMSBY TO MAIN EVENT NEF 55 IN BANGOR

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Bangor, Maine (September 21, 2023) – New England Fights presents its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 55: Glory Days” on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.  Earlier today, NEF announced the main event for the card.  Glory “The Fury” Watson (5-1) will meet Shawna “Bam Bam” Ormsby (2-4) at the strawweight limit of 115 pounds.

When Watson climbs into the cage on November 11, it will be nine months to the day since her last fight.  Watson pulled off the biggest win of her pro career thus far this past February when she submitted veteran Hilarie Rose (6-6) in the first round.  It was the third submission win for Watson as a pro.  She is currently the number-one-ranked pound-for-pound female MMA competitor in New England.  Watson represents Young’s MMA based in nearby Orrington, Maine.

“On November 11th, I make the walk into the MMA cage as a professional for the seventh time,” exclaimed Watson. “It’s hard to believe that I’ve been competing in mixed martial arts for only five years and I’m grateful to be where I am. After a short break away to take care of myself and my body, I am beyond ready to step back into the NEF cage!
