📰 NEWS--📰ED DAVIS ON FIGHTING IN BANGOR: “I AM LIKE A LITTLE KID AT CHRISTMAS, GIDDY TO FIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HOMETOWN”

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

 Bangor, Maine (October 13, 2023)

Ed Davis has gone to war in the New England Fights (NEF) mixed martial arts hexagon at two different venues in Portland, Maine, and now famously as part of a Professional Fighters League (PFL) card in The Theater at Madison Square Garden.

He’s a little biased, but Davis believes none of those audiences create a more rambunctious and invigorating ambiance per capita than the spectators who pack the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine, a stone’s throw from his home base of Brewer.

“I can’t even put it into words. I am like a little kid at Christmas, giddy to fight in front of the hometown. Nobody brings energy like Bangor,” Davis said. “All the hometown fans come out. Once they all get together under one roof, it’s crazy. Last time I was in Bangor, the noise in the building was almost the same as in Madison Square Garden.”

📰 NEWS--📰 ED DAVIS TO MAKE PRO DEBUT AT NEF 55 IN BANGOR

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Bangor, Maine (September 29, 2023) – New England Fights presents its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 55: Glory Days” on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.  Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of a professional catchweight bout to the card.  Ed Davis (0-0) will meet James Lawson (0-1) at a fight weight of 165 pounds.

Ed Davis will make his professional debut in the fight with Lawson.  Davis went 2-2 as an amateur with knockout wins over Joe Peters (2-4) and Patrick Mitchell (1-2) to his credit.  His most recent amateur outing took place last month at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  Davis took on Muhammad Ali’s grandson, Biaggio Ali Walsh (5-1), in a high-profile fight that was broadcast nationally on ESPN. He currently represents Titan Athletics based in Brewer, Maine.

“I am excited to be making my pro debut, at home and on Veterans Day,” said Davis. “I am super excited to be back in the cage and am ready for a war. I am going to move forward and push the pace and break this man’s will. Not one step will be taken backwards on November 11th, and I am coming for performance of the night! Everyone be sure to come out and watch the fights, it will be a night you will not want to miss!”

James Lawson recently made his professional debut at “NEF 53” last July after an amateur career that saw him compete in both MMA and kickboxing.  He will return to the NEF cage on November 11 looking for the first win of his pro career.  Lawson represents The Relentless Bunch MMA.

“I am thrilled to be making my return to NEF, where the competition is always top-notch,” said Lawson. “Fighting Ed Davis is a great challenge, and I am ready to showcase my skills and determination in the cage. I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to an exciting and memorable fight.”

“NEF 55: Glory Days” takes place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.  Doors are scheduled to open at 6 pm with first fight taking place at 7 pm.  Tickets to “NEF 55” are available now at www.ticketmaster.com.

📰 NEWS--📰FIRST NON-TITLE FIVE-ROUND FIGHT IN NEF HISTORY TO TAKE PLACE JULY 8TH

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (June 8, 2023) – New England Fights returns to Merrill Auditorium in Portland with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, “NEF 53: American Valor,” on Saturday, July 8, 2023.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur lightweight bout to the card.  Ed Davis (2-1) will meet Chase O’Brien (1-1) in the promotion’s first ever non-title, five-round fight.

Ed Davis has made a name for himself in a relatively short period of time with NEF.  He debuted last summer with a second-round technical knockout of Joe Peters (2-3) at “NEF 48.”  Davis followed-up that performance with another TKO over Patrick Mitchell at “NEF 50” last fall.  He needed just one minute of the first round to put Mitchell away.  Davis would go on to challenge Kyle Pufahl (5-1) earlier this year for the NEF Amateur Lightweight Championship, losing a unanimous decision.  He currently represents Titan Athletics based in Brewer, Maine.

“I am super excited to be back in the NEF cage on July 8th,” exclaimed Davis. “Chase is a tough guy with heavy hands who likes to throw down and I think the fans are going to be in for a treat when him and I step into the cage. Expect fight of the night, but make no mistake, I am coming to shut the lights out. So, bring the popcorn, don’t blink and be ready for the fireworks!”

Chase O’Brien will make his third appearance in the NEF cage on July 8.  He debuted with the promotion last fall at “NEF 50,” losing a very close, hard-fought, majority decision to the more experienced Zach Faulkner (5-4).  O’Brien returned at “NEF 51” in February against Trevor Brown (0-1).  It took him just 1:29 of the first round to defeat Brown via technical knockout, turning Brown into a bloody mess in the process.  O’Brien represents Wai Kru based in Allston, Massachusetts.

"I can’t wait for this fight,” declared O’Brien. “My cardio is better than ever, and my punches are as fast and powerful as they have ever been. My biggest goal is to entertain everyone watching, and that means I have to be as brutal as possible."

“NEF 53: American Valor” takes place on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland, Maine.  Doors are scheduled to open at 6 pm with first fight taking place at 7 pm.  Tickets to “NEF 53” are available now at www.porttix.com.

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (July 3, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 48: Heatwave” on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine.  The event will be NEF’s first outdoor event since “NEF 8” in 2013.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur welterweight bout to the card.  Joe Peters (1-1) will take on Ed Davis (0-0) at a weight of 170 pounds.

Joe Peters made his combat sports debut last fall in a kickboxing bout in New Hampshire with a win by technical knockout.  After losing his first MMA bout on a fight card in Massachusetts earlier in the spring, Peters got back on the winning track in May at “NEF 47” in Auburn, Maine when he defeated Bryant Wade (1-1) by technical knockout in the third round.  He currently represents Karasu Tengu Academy (KTA) based in Nashua, New Hampshire.  The fight will be Peters first at the welterweight limit as his two previous MMA bouts were contested in the 185-pound middleweight division.
