On Saturday June 25, myself and my friend/team mate, and newest WMMMA guest writter Scott "Skeeter Barnes" Stacy made the 2 hour trek out to Beantown to cover the Cage Titans event. Our trusty GPS pointed the way, and we made it with some time to spare.
The Local IBEW venue is easy to find, with plenty of free parking. Cage Titans promoter/match maker extrodinare Mike Polvere had our press passes put aside, and one of his lovely assistants showed us to the press area cageside. I introduced Big Skeet to the regulars...Denny "sea-legs"Siggins, and Mark Daniels, while Keegan Hornstrah and his MMA Horn were on the stage behind us streaming the event live!! I'd also like to note something before we get to the review...Polvere is THE most gracious host there is! His crew made sure that the press had cold drinks (soda and water) and even offered food throughout the night!! The hospitality was amazing, and I promise, I'll take you up on some pizza and hot dogs next show.....when I'm not dieting for a fight..;) on to the fights!!!
1st. Fight- Frank Falso 0-0 (Team United) vs. Elysee Sanon 0-0 ( Blue Devil Fight Team) Ammy 170lbs
First Round. Sanon comes out quick with a few front kicks. Then rush’s Falso into the cage for the clinch. Sanon putting pressure on as they exchange a few knees. They break from the cage and meet in the middle. Back and forth jabs, Sanon puts nice knee in the chest of Falso. They clinch up against the cage with Sanon putting the pressure on. Sanon takes Falso down, and takes his back immediately. Sinks the rear naked choke, and Falso taps at 1:40 min of the first round.

2nd Fight- Connor Matthews 0-0 (Lakeville MMA) vs. Derek Shorey 0-2 (Team KAOS) Ammy 150lbs
First Round. They both come out feeling each other out, both trying to find the distance. They clinch in the middle of the cage. Matthews wraps his arm around for a stand up guillotine. Shorey looking like he’s in trouble picks Matthews up over head and slams him to the mat. Matthews pull full guard and Shorey works the body with a few shots. They scramble and Shorey gets full mount then goes to side control. Mattews sweeps and they scramble to there feet. Matthews starts to attack. Connects with a nice big right that puts Shorey to his back. Matthews goes right to full mount they scramble and Mattews takes his back hooks in and and sinks in the rearnaked choke. And Shorey taps @ 1:57 min of the 1st rd.

3rd. Fight- Keith Schneider 0-2 (Nitsuj) vs. Anthony White 0-0 (Sport Specific Fitness) Ammy 185lbs
First Round. Both guys come out feel each other out Schneider comes in for the take down. It’s a nice slam to the mat right into side control. White scrambles and pulls full guard. White laying tries to get better position. Schneider postures up and gets a few strikes in. White goes for the triangle and the horn blows. During the first round break, White’s corner submitted and Schneider wins in the first round in 3 minutes by give up.

4th Fight- Vlad Suric 0-0 (Tapout Boston) vs. Elvis Kuljanicic 0-0 (Blue Devil Fight Team) Ammy 170lbs
First Round. They come out to the center of the cage and feel each other out. Suric throws a leg kick and clinches up with Elvis and puts Elvis against the cage, throwing good knees while putting pressure on. Suric pushes off and they both come off the cage swinging. Elvis throws a leg kick to a clean right. Suric throws a high kick and slips. Elvis into his guard, Suric sweeps Elvis to mount, Elvis sweeps Suric and starts dropping bombs. They scramble and stand up to clinch. Elvis gets the take down, goes for the guillotine. Suric pulls his head out and sweeps. End of round. Elvis gives up at the end of the first round due to dislocated shoulder.

5th fight- Shayne Stevenson 1-2 (Independent) vs. Brett Morris 2-1 (Rivera MMA) Ammy 140lbs
First Round. They come out and touch gloves. Morris throws a high front kick, shoots for the take down and Stevenson pulls guard. Morris gets side control. Stevenson scrambles to half guard. This scramble, Stevenson pulls full guard. No action, ref stands him up. They meet in the middle again and Morris comes at him with a high kick. Stevenson throws a big right and connects and knocks Morris to his back. Stevenson jumps on top and Morris pulls full guard. Morris goes for the arm bar. Stevenson picks him up and slams him. Morris still has arm bar. Stevenson scrambles and pulls arm bar out and the horn.
Second round. They come out and Stevenson throws a big right hand, shakes up Morris. Stevenson shoots for a nice take down and Morris pulls full guard. Stevenson throws a few punches. Morris sweeps to full mount and takes back in no time. He starts laying bombs. Morris rolls and takes Stevenson neck and sinks a rear naked choke. Stevenson taps 2:17 in the second round by sub. rear naked choke.

6th Fight- Xavier Vargas 1-2 (Combat Sports Club) vs. James Poe 1-1 (Blue Devil Fight Team) Ammy 220lbs
First Round. They come out touch gloves and they start swinging. They clinch in the middle of the cage and start exchanging knees. Vargas takes Poe’s back standing, and takes Poe down. Poe stands right back up and clinches, exchanging knees again. Vargas puts Poe in a stand up guillotine. Poe fights out of out of it and they clinch, start exchanging knees again. Vargas pushes Poe to the cage and drops huge knees. They break and in the middle Poe starts swinging to the fences. Vargas has a stand up arm triangle and trips Poe for the take down. He goes right to full mount and starts dropping bombs. Poe saved by the horn.
Second round. Poe comes up, tired, he throws a head kick and lands it. They clinch in the middle. Vargas goes for a stand up guillotine. He trips Poe for the take down and get full mount. He starts dropping bombs and Poe scrambles and they stand up. Poe throws knee to the face. Ref stops fight for mear seconds and warns Poe of illegal knee. They clinch and Vargas puts Poe against cage and Poe gets take down and goes to side control. Vargas goes for the guillotine. Poe throws a few body shots. Vargas pushes off the cage and gets the take down into half guard. Horn.
Third round. Poe comes out very tired. He throws a big over hand right and misses. Vargas clinches up and pushes Poe against the cage and starts thrashing him with body shots. Vargas takes Poe down and takes back immediately. Starts dropping bomb from his back and Poe rolls and Vargas gets full mount. He gets him with a few more strikes and Poe rolls again. Vargas takes his back and stand over his back and starts throwing bombs. Ref stops fight to unanswered strikes. Third round 1:46

7th fight- Jared Rodgers 1-0 (Tapout Boston) vs. Anthony Zarella 0-0 (MAXX Training) Ammy 155lbs
First Round. They come out with no glove touch. Feel each other out and Zarella throws a high kick. Rodgers rushes in for the take down and gets it. Zarella pulls full guard. Rodgers throws a few strikes and gets side control and throws a few more strikes and gets full mount. Zarella sweeps in to Rodgers full guard and Rodgers goes for a triangle attempt, sweeps Zarella. They scramble and Zarella sweeps Rodgers and puts a triangle back in, it’s deep. Zarella tries to fight it off. Horn.
Second Round. They come out and start feeling each other out. Rodgers throws a right hand and clinches up, drops for the take down and gets it. He goes right into side control. They scramble and Rodgers takes his back. Zarella scrambles and sweeps into Rodgers full guard. He throws a few strikes and Rodgers puts up a triangle. Zarella rolls and triangle still in. Rodgers is sitting on top with a triangle, throwing strikes. Horn.
Third Round. Zarella comes out with a high kick. Rodgers shoots and takes him down. Zarella pulls guard. Rodgers throws a few strikes and gets a mount. Zarella sweeps and is in Rodgers full guard now. Rodgers goes for a triangle attempt and Zarella pulls out of it and stands up, he throws some leg kicks while Rodgers is still on his back. Ref stands them up. Rodgers throws a big over hand right and knocks Zarella on his back. Zarella pulls guard. Rodgers throws a few more strikes. Horn.

First Round. They come out and feel each other out. Dunn throws a front kick. Rodriguez grabs it and takes him down into his guard. Rodriguez works body. Dunn goes for a triangle attempt. Rodriguez starts dropping bombs and gets out of the triangle. Rodriquez stands up and Dunn throws a few up kick. Ref stands Dunn up. Rodriguez throws a right hook and misses. They clinch up. Rodriguez puts pressure on Dunn into the cage and gets a nice double leg take down. Horn blows.
Second Round. They come out quick. Rodriguez throws a leg kick to Dunn’s leg which drops Dunn. Dunn stands up quick and they clinch and switch back and forth cage control. Rodriguez gets the take down and throws a few strikes. Dunn works his way up the cage and back up to their feet and puts him into a standing guillotine. Rodriguez gets a double leg in the guillotine. He slips out when they hit the ground. Dunn quickly takes his back and tries for the rear naked choke. He can’t get it so he starts dropping bombs from Rodriguez back. Horn.
Third Round. Rodriguez comes out with an upper cut. Dunn answers with a front kick. They clinch to the cage. Rodriguez putting pressure on. Dunn drops the take down and gets into half guard, he throws a few strikes right into full mount. Rodriguez scrambles and rolls. Dunn takes back. He rolls again and Dunn’s in a full mount. He drops bombs until the ref calls it. Unanswered strikes. 2 :03 in third round

9th Fight- Stephen Langlais 1-2 (Team BKJA) vs. Dan Lopez 2-2 (Sports Specific Fitness) Ammy 155lbs
First Round. They come out feeling each other out. Both start swinging with jabs back and forth. Langlais lands a clean combo. Langlais throws a fake job and drops for the take down and gets it into half guard. They scramble. Lopez ends up in side control throwing knees to the body. Horn Blows.
Second round. Lopez comes out with a nice leg kick to a big right. He clinched the cage putting pressure on. He throws a few body shots and knees to Langlais. They break and Lopez throws a head kick but it was blocked. Lopez throws a nice other the head right and they both start swinging. Lopez throws a nice spinning back kick that connects and they both start swinging. Horn.
Third Round. Both come out swinging back and forth. Langlai gets the take down into full guard. Lopez works his way up the cage and stands. Langlais picks him up over his head and smashes him down. Back into guard. Lopez grabs arm and rolls for an arm bar. Langlais sweeps and is back into guard and starts throwing strikes. They lay resting. Lopez throws up a triangle and Langlais is fighting the triangle. He gets a big slam and gets out of it. He throws a few more strikes and the horn.

10th Fight- Matt Doherty 1-2 (Team Pradal Serey) vs. Kin Moy 4-1 (Redline MMA) Ammy 140lbs
First Round. They come out feeling each other out throwing back and forth. Few strikes connect. Moy throws a nice body kick to a big right hand. He does a fake jab and goes for the take down and it is stuffed by Doherty. They clinch and May throws a few knees and gets the take down. Doherty is right back to his feet. They exchange a few leg kicks. Doherty for the take down. Moy is right back up. Moy with a body kick, Doherty grabs his leg for a takedown. Moy stuffs it. They clinch and Moy drops for the take down for side control and spins to North South position. He throws a few body shots and Doherty scrambles and Moy takes his back. Horn.
Second Round. Doherty comes out with a leg kick and they clinch into the cage. Moy throws a few knees and turns Doherty into the cage. He drops for a take down and gets it into his full guard. Doherty goes for an arm bar. Moy pulls arm out of the arm bar and they scramble. Moy back on top, side control, he throws a few strikes and mounts Doherty. Throws a few strikes to the horn.
Third Round. They come out and exchange a few strikes. Moy goes for the take down and gets stuffed. They clinch up and Moy goes for the take down again and goes into full guard. Doherty goes for another arm bar attempt from his back. Moy starts throwing strikes to his body and face until he lets go of his arm. He throws some knees to the body. Doherty tries to sweep. Round ends with Moy in full mount.

11th Fight- Davis Roast 1-0 (Sityodtong) vs. Josh Flores 1-0 (Blue Devils Fight Team) Ammy 135lbs
First Round. Roast comes out with a leg kick. Flores shoots and gets a big double leg take down into guard. Roast is holding Flores and ends up sweeping him and taking his back. They scramble as Roast throws strikes from his back. They scramble and Roast gets full mount. They scramble more and takes his back again and throws a few more strikes. Roast rolls and takes his neck. Horn.
Second Round. Flores comes out and throws a nice job kick combo. Roast shoots for the take down and gets into his guard. Flores goes for an arm bar attempt and Roast pulls out of it. A few shots are thrown and Flores puts up a triangle. Roast gets out of it and gets side control. He throws a few strikes and knees to the body. They scramble and Roast gets North South position. They scramble more, Flores ends up in half guard on his back still. Horn.
Third Round. Roast comes out with a nice body kick. Flores answers with a clean job. Roast takes him down into his guard. They scramble and Roast still in his guard. He throws a few strikes. They scramble again and Roast takes his back. He throws a few strikes. Flores rolls and Roast gets full mount. He throws a few shots from mount and Flores sweeps. They scramble. Roast gets into full guard on top and throws a few more strikes. They scramble and Roast gets into a guillotine choke. HornWinner by Davis Roast (Sityodtong) unanimous decision.
Shaun Chadbourne 0-1 (Clinch MMA) vs. Peter Barrett 0-1 (MAXX Training) Ammy 160lbs
First Round. They both come out swinging and land a few strikes. Chadbourne clinches and throws a few knees. They break right back into the clinch. Barrett gets the take down but Chadbourne is back up fast. They clinch again and Barrett puts the pressure on against the cage. Chadourne switches the pressure. Chadbourne picks Barrett up and gets a big slam. They get right back up and Chadourne goes for a standing guillotine. Barrett picks him back up and smashes him to the mat. They scramble and get back up. Back and forth strikes then they clinch. They exchange a few knees. Barrett puts him against the cage. They break. Barrett throws four crazy upper cuts. Horn.
Second Round. Barrett comes out and throws a nice body kick. Chadbourne answers with his own. Back and forth strikes. Both swinging for the fences. They clinch and Barrett gets a nice hip toss for side control. He lands a few strikes and knees to the body. Chadbourne pull half guard. Chadbourne up the cage and stands up. Barrett starts teeing off on him. They clinch and break. They both start swinging for the fences. Barrett smashes him with a big over hand right. They are back against the cage. Barrett throws a few body shots and backs off and starts teeing off once again. He throws about ten hooks as Chadbourne covers up. Horn.
Third Round. Barrett comes out with a body kick and a nice right hook that puts Chadbourne to his knees. He stands back up and they clinch. Chadbourne gets a big take down into side control. He throws a few strikes and they scramble. Chadbourne gets up in a guillotine and pulls out when he is in guard. He throws a few more strikes. They scramble to their feet. Barrett throws a few hooks. Chadbourne shoots for the take down and is stuffed. They clinch into the cage. Horn.

Mike Drohan 1-1 (Lakeville MMA) vs. Adel Lolic 2-2 (Blue Devil Fight Team) Ammy 170lbs
First Round. Lolic comes out with a nice leg kick. A few back and forth strikes and they clinch. Drohan presses against the cage. Drohan gets a take down into guard. Lolic goes for an arm bar. Drohan spins out into side control. Lolic sweeps into an arm bar attempt. They scramble and Drohan takes Lolic’s back. Lolic rolls and gets half guard. Horn blows with them laying.
Second Round. They come out exchanging jabs. They clinch. Lolic gets take down into half guard. Drohan scrambles and stands up and takes Lolic down. Lolic goes for an arm bar attempt. Drohan throws a few shots and gets out of arm bar. He throws a few body shots. Lolic throws up another arm bar attempt. Drohan throws strikes to face. Horn.
Third round. They both come out swinging. Drohan gets the clinch. He backs off and starts throwing big strikes. Lolic drops and Drohan takes his back. They scramble. Lolic gets half guard on his back. Drohan throws a few strikes and Lolic pulls full guard. Drohan throws some strikes and works the body at the horn.

Rob Font 2-1 (Sityodtong) vs. Joe Pingitore 7-2 (Team Rockstar) Ammy Title 155lbs
First Round. Font comes out with a nice jab to a leg kick. They feel each other out. Font throws another leg kick. Pingitore answers back with his own leg kick. They exchange a few hooks. They start throwing back and forth strikes, none are landing. They catch each other with a few jabs. Font throws another nice leg kick. Font throws a big head kick. Crowd goes nutz. Pingitore shakes it off. Font goes in for the take down. He gets a big slam to end the round.
Second Round. They both some out swinging. Font lands a clean hook. Pingitore throws a fake jabs to a take down that gets stuffed. They clinch and Pingitore has cage control. They exchange knees. They break and start exchanging hooks that are connecting. Pingitore for the take down that is stuffed again. Back and forth strikes with nothing landing. Pingitore throws a nice superman punch. Font backs up into cage, shoots in for a take down. Gets it to end the round.
Third Round. They come out feel each other out. Pingitore throws a nice leg kick jab combo. Font lands a nice right hook. Pingitore puts the pressure on. Font gets a big take down across the cage. He takes back and they scramble and stand. Font shoots for another take down. He gets it and takes his back. He throws some nice knees to the body. He rolls over for the choke, punching and working for it. Pingitore sweeps and they stand up. Pingitore throws a big right hook, missed. Font shoots for a take down, he gets it to end the round.
Fourth Round. They come out and fee each other out. Font throws a nice leg kick. They both start swinging for the fences with nothing connecting. Pingitore throws a nice knee and gets stuffed. Font takes him down into full guard. They lay around and Font throws a few body shots to the horn.
Fifth Round. Pingitore comes out with a nice leg kick and they exchange a few hooks that connect. Back and forth jabs then Pingitore throws a nice upper cut hook combo. They clinch Font goes for a standing guillotine. Pingitore picks him up over his head for a big take down into Font’s guard. They scramble and Pingitore throws a few shots to the body and gets full mount. Font sweeps him and they scramble and Pingitore is back on top in full guard. He throws a few more strikes to end the round.

Shaun Marmas 2-2 (integrated Martial Arts) vs. Antwan Penn 1-3 (Camp Get Right) Pro 145lbs
First Round. Marmas comes out with a quick jab to a leg kick. Penn answers with a nice upper cut and grabs the clinch. He puts Marmas against the cage and takes Marmas down. They scramble and Marmas grabs a heel hook. Penn shakes it off and they stand. Marmas goes for the take down and Penn stuffs it. He grabs a guillotine choke. Marmas gets a big slam into guard and gets out of the choke. He throws a few strikes into side control. Penn sweeps and they scramble and stand back into the clinch. Penn gets a take down into side control. Marmas throws elbows from his back while Penn is putting some knees to his body. Penn goes to full mount and throws a few strikes. Marmas scrambles to half guard. They sweep and stand throwing elbows and knees at each other. Penn gets a take down and goes for a guillotine choke. Marmas slips out into side control and throws a few knees to the body. He gets full mount. Penn scrambles and Marmas now has half guard. Marmas goes for an arm bar attempt while fails and goes into a North South position and strikes Penn to end the round.
Second Round. Penn comes out with a nice clean leg kick. They feel each other out and clinch. Penn gets nice take down hip toss into side control. They scramble and Marmas pulls guard. They are both striking and Penn gets side control throwing a few knees to the body. He starts dropping big elbows onto Marmas. Marmas’s forehead is cut wide open, blood everywhere. Ref calls time out for the doctor, who says he is good to fight. Marmas wipes face off on shorts and they both come out swinging. Penn gets the take down into side control. He starts dropping elbows on his cut forehead. Marmas sweeps and gets side control. He throws a few strikes and Penn rolls. Marmas takes back for rear naked and they scramble. Marmas still has back and puts both hooks in. He lands strikes and goes for the choke. He ends the round with both hooks in with strikes from the back.
Third Round. Penn comes out with a nice leg kick. Marmas goes in for a sloppy take down stuffed by Penn. They scramble and Penn gets North South and half guard on top. Marmas goes for an arm bar attempt. Penn pulls out and they scramble. Marmas goes for a foot lock and they scramble again. Penn ends in side control. He drops elbows and body shots. Marmas scrambles and turns and takes Penn’s back. They scramble again and Penn into half guard on top. He throws a few body shots. They go back and forth striking on ground. Marmas pulls full guard and throws up a triangle attempt. Horn.

Dominic Warr 0-1 (Wai Kru) vs. Johnny “Cupcake” Campbell 2-1 (SSSF) Pro 145lbs
First Round. Campbell comes out with a nice leg kick and they feel each other out. Campbell throws a high kick and slips. Warr jumps on and takes back. Campbell sweeps and Warr pulls an arm bar attempt. Campbell is out and throws a few shots. Warr on back and picks up Campbell with his leg and slams him. They both stand and go back and forth striking. Warr gets cocky, Campbell answers with a leg kick. They clinch and switch back and forth for cage control. They break and Warr throws two hooks and Campbell answers with a nice leg kick that knocks Warr down. They are both to their feet and throwing back and forth strikes. Campbell throws a nice body kick into a clean combo that connects. They clinch and Warr throws a few jabs in the clinch. Campbell gets a take down into side control immediately into mount. Warr sweeps into full guard and they scramble and stand. Campbell throws a nice hook into a leg kick. Warr shoots for a take down. Campbell sweeps and ends the round in full guard on top.
Second Round. Warr comes out with a nice big right hand. Campbell shoots for the take down and they scramble and Warr sweeps and gets his back. Warr throws another right hand and misses so they clinch. Warr puts him against the cage and gets control. Campbell goes in for a standing guillotine choke and Warr pulls out and pressures Campbell against the cage. They exchange a few knees and break. Again a few knees and strikes. Warr throws a nice leg kick that he grabs into a take down into full guard. He throws a few body shots into top guard. They scramble and stand. They clinch and throw a few knees and Warr circles. They break and exchange jabs and Campbell gets a take down into full guard. Horn
Third Round. Warr comes out all cocky and they clinch. Warr throws a big knee and gets a nice take down. Campbell rolls into full guard top position. They scramble and Campbell gets side control. Warr rolls and Campbell takes his back and they scramble. Campbell gets full mount and throws a few strikes and jumps to side control. Warr fights and Campbell goes from half guard to full guard. Warr goes for a foot lock that Campbell pulls out of and they stand. Warr goes for a take down and he stuffs it. Campbell goes for a guillotine choke and Warr gets out of it and they clinch. Josh Mellen 2-2 (Bancroft Boxing) vs. Jimmy Quinlan 0-0 (Mass BJJ) Pro 195lbs
First Round. Quinlan bull rushes and shoots right out of the gate. He picks Mellen up over his head, spins around and smashes him on his head. He starts dropping bombs and goes for a guillotine choke. Mellen sommer salts out of the choke. They scramble and throw a few bombs. Quinlan ends up in side control. He grabs Mellen’s arm and cranks it for the submission. Mellen taps at 2:11 in the first round to a kimora.

Nick Newell 4-0 (Fighting Arts Academy) vs. Anthony Kaponis 5-3 (Indepedent) Pro 155lbs
First Round. Newell comes out with a big head kick and slips. He stands up and they clinch. Kaponis rushes for the take down and gets into Newell’s guard. Newell throws elbow from bottom and goes for an arm bar attempt. He rolls onto his belly and Newell gets the submission at 1:01 in the first round, arm bar.

It was my first time at a Cage Titans Show & first time writing a review. I would go back to any Cage Titan show as press or a fan, and I recommend if you love MMA to go see their show.
