WNXFA VIII 2/21/2014 Teaser

Warrior Nation returns this Friday February 21st, 2014 with their 8th installment.  This time they are venturing out to a new venue out in Boxborough at the Holiday Inn.  It is a real nice location to have fights and only an hour from Western Mass.  The card features 15 fights and 3 of them are professional.  There are many good match ups on here as you will see in my full breakdown.  Tickets are available here and start at just $35 for general admission at the link here.  If that isn't enough for you don't forget the beautiful Warrior Nation ring girls will be there strutting their stuff.  Jesse Camp worked double duty on match making and promoting this event and we would like to thank him for his dedication to mma.  The doors open at 6pm and the fights will start right at 7pm.  Let me break down the card for you...

1. 135 lbs Brett Kerpa (Ultimate MMA 0-0) vs. Steve Karr (GFV 0-2)

In the first fight of the evening Brett Kerpa will be taking on Steve Karr at 135lbs.  Brett is from Ultimate MMA and will be making his amateur debut.  Ultimate MMA is a great school so I know he will be ready for a battle.  Steve is from Gracie Farmington Valley and has an 0-2 record. He lost to Nhel Theam by ko/tko and then lost a decision to Allen Edgecomb at the last Warrior Nation event.  We will have to see if Steve's fight experience will be a factor in this match up or not.

2. 125 lbs Nate Russell (FAA Spfld 2-0) vs. Jesse Gutierrez (Connors MMA 2-2)

For the second battle Nate Russell takes on Jesse Gutierrez at 125lbs.  Nate is from Fighting Arts Academy right here in Springfield MA and has a 2-0 record.  He has won a ko/tko over Matt Bergen and a submission victory over Kenny Morell.  He will be looking to improve to 3-0 and keep his undefeated streak.  His opponent Jesse is from Connor's MMA and has a 2-2 record.  I was not able to find out his wins information but for his losses he lost by split decision and ko/tko.  This an awesome match up and it will be a very fast paced fight so get ready fight fans.

3. 135 lbs Jesus Santiago (Strike Zone MMA 0-2) vs. Jecksan Rosado (NE Combat 0-1)

In the 3rd fight Jesus Santiago will be fighting Jecksan Rosado at 135lbs.  Jesus is from Strikezone MMA and has an 0-2 record.  He has a loss by ko/tko and in his last fight he lost by submission in Rd 2 to my good friend Joe Leonard.  Jesus shown some very good striking in the fight with Joe and I will expect him to use that to his advantage in this fight.  His opponent Jecksan is from NE Combat and has an 0-1 record.  He lost a unanimous decision to Alex Vinarsky and that was a really good battle.  I think this fight will be a very good stand up battle and should be a good one for the fans!

4. 155 lbs Cody McMahon (CT United 0-0) vs. Dan Bardellini (Rivera Athletics 0-4)

Cody McMahon faces off against Dan Bardellini at 155lbs.  Cody is from CT United and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent Dan is from Rivera Athletics under the tutelage of UFC veteran Jorge Rivera.  He comes into this fight still hungry for his first amateur victory and having an 0-4 record.  I was not able to find all of his fight info but it looked like he lost 2 by decision and one by ko/tko to strikes.  In this fight Dan will want to use his 4 fight experience and well roundness to secure that W in his corner.

5. 145 lbs Shawn O’Dou (Team Ravenous 1-0) vs. Nick Valentino (Sitmangpong 0-0)

For the next battle Shawn O'Dou takes on Nick Valentino at 145lbs in the battle of the Greenfield fighters as both fight schools are located in Greenfield MA.  Shawn is from Team Ravenous and won his first fight at the last WNXFA in quick fashion.  He got the takedown and ground and pounded his way to victory against Kevin Aurelien.  Nick is from Sitmangpong and will be making his amateur debut.  I am anxious to see how the fighters from Sitmangpong react in the cage as they are a new school.  This should be a good one.

6. 170 lbs Connor Barry (DHT/DE 2-0) vs. Carlos Correia (DCNU 1-0)

Connor Barry will face off against Carlos Correia  at 170lbs.  Connor trains with DHT/DE and has a 2-0 record.  He won his first fight by submission and then his second by ko/tko at the last Warrior Nation event.  He will be looking to keep his perfect record intact.  Carlos is from DCNU and has a 1-0 record.  He won by submission at the last Cage Titans event over Rich McLaughlin.  He controlled the fight and looked very good in his amateur debut.  Once again, another solid match up which should make for a solid battle.

7. 135 lbs Ali Zebian (FAA Spfld 1-0) vs. Alex Vinarsky (GFV 1-0)

Then Ali Zebian takes on Alex Vinarsky at 135lbs.  Ali is from Fighting Arts Springfield and has a 1-0 record.  He won his first fight by ko/tko at Victory Promotions against John Lessard.  He will be looking to improve to 2-0.  His opponent Alex has a 1-0 record as well and trains with GFV.  Alex won his first fight at the last Warrior Nation event by decision.  Even fight across the boards and I think this one will be a stand up battle.

8. 155 lbs Myles Lynch (Connors MMA 0-0) vs. Kevin Rey (NE Combat 1-0)

In the 8th fight of the evening Myles Lynch takes on Kevin Rey at 155lbs.  Myles is from Connor's MMA and will be making his amateur debut.  He is from a good school so he will be ready for anything I am sure.  Kevin is from NE Combat and has a 1-0 record.  He won his first battle very quickly against Charlie Clark by ko/tko to strikes in just 17 seconds.  I think Myles will most likely try to take this fight to the ground and Kevin will want to try to keep it standing and tire out Myles.

9. 150 lbs Kenny Peralta (Ultimate MMA 0-1) vs. Kevin Aurelien (Calasanz MMA 0-2)

Next up is Kenny Peralta against Kevin Aurelien at a catch weight of 150 lbs.  Kenny is from Ultimate MMA and has an 0-1 record.  He lost an unanimous decision to Jean Surin in his first fight at Premier FC.  He is still hungry for his first taste of mma victory.  His opponent Kevin is from Calasanz MMA and comes into this fight with an 0-2 record.  He lost both of his fights by ko/tko to strikes but he did last longer in the second fight of his ammy career.  The good news is that one of them will get their first amateur mma victory this Friday!

10. 125 lbs Nick Mancinone (FAA Spfld 2-1) vs. Kris Moutinho (Rivera Athletics 1-1)

In a 125lbs showdown Nick Mancinone takes on Kris Moutinho.  Nick is from Fighting Arts Academy in Springfield and has a 2-1 record.  He lost his first fight by armbar but then bounced back and won his next two fights by armbar.  In his last fight he won against Jacky Mei by jumping armbar and it got everyone's attention.  That was one of my favorite submissions of last year.  His opponent Kris Moutinho is from Rivera Athletics and has a 1-1 record.  He won his first fight by submission and ended up losing his second by decision.  This will be a very fast paced fight and I think it will be settled on the ground.

11. 145 lbs McLynn Cadiente (CT United 1-1) vs. Grant Mosley (Florian MMA 1-1)

Then McLynn Cadiente squares off against Grant Mosley at 145lbs.  McLynn is from CT United and comes into this fight with a 1-1 record.  He has fought both of his fights for Warrior Nation and he is going to compete for a 3rd time this Friday.  He lost his first battle by decision and bounced back with a win by armbar for his second fight.  His opponent Grant is from Florian MMA and also has a 1-1 record.  He won his first bout by submission and then lost his second to a decision.  It really can't get any more even than this fight.  I think this one will be a good ground battle.

12. HVYW Dan Randall (Fighting Arts Academy 0-0) vs. Kevin Smith (Young's MMA 3-1)

For the last amateur fight of the night Dan Randall faces off against Kevin Smith in the heavyweight division.  Dan is from Fighting Arts Academy and will be making his amateur debut.  Kevin Smith is from Young's MMA and will be making the trip down from Maine and he isn't coming down here for a loss.  Kevin just fought two weeks ago in which he moved up to 3-1.  He won two of his fights by submission and one by ko/tko to strikes.  He is very big and all muscle and loves to pick up his opponent and get the crowd pumped with a slam.  Fight fans will not want to leave before this fight because it will be an awesome battle between two heavy hitters.

13. 155 lbs Steven Carr (Strike Zone MMA 1-2) vs. Addison O’Neil (DCNU 0-1)

In the first professional fight of the night Steven Carr takes on Addison O'Neil at 155lbs.  Steven is from Strike Zone and has a 1-2 record.  He won his first fight by submission and then lost his next two, one of them by ko/tko and the last one by decision.  Addison is from DCNU and has an 0-1 record.  He lost his first pro fight by submission in Rd 2 against Taylor Trahan.  Both fighters are tough which should make for a good one.

14. 150 lbs Ruso Khubejashvili (Connors MMA 1-0) vs. Dominic Warr (Wai Kru 5-3)

In the second pro fight of the night Ruso Khubejashvili takes on Dominic Warr at a catch weight of 150lbs.  Ruso is from Connor's MMA and has a 1-0 record.  He had an awesome amateur career and won his first pro fight with a decision over Tom Evans which was no easy task.  Now he is fighting Dom Warr who has a record of 5-3 and is from Wai Kru.  Dom has 3 decision wins in which two of them were split decisions.  He also has one submission and one ko/tko so far in his pro career.  For his losses he lost one by dq, one decision and one by ko/tko.  These guys both love to stand and slug it out and I think this is exactly how its going to go down.  They are both very tough so it is possible that they might both make it to a decision but I don't think it will make it that far.

15. 145 lbs Taylor Trahan (Team Link North 3-1-0) vs. Joe Pingitore (NE Combat 4-0-1)

In the last fight of the night Taylor Trahan faces off against Joe Pingitore at 145lbs.  Taylor is from Team Link North and has a 3-1 record.  He has two wins by decision and one by submission.  In his last fight he suffered a loss to Phil Parrish in which he was winning the fight but was cut and in the end lost by tko to strikes.  He is looking to turn that around and head back to NH with another victory under his belt.  Joe is from NE Combat and has a 4-0 record.  He has 1 win by ko/tko, 1 by submission and 2 by decision.  He has one draw against Sergio Moran and that was an awesome battle.  Joe will want to keep this fight standing and Taylor will most likely want to take this fight to the ground.
