Ammy's
Fight 1: Adam Apricio 1-1 (Boneyard) vs Nathan Oses 2-1 (BMAC)
Adam Aparicio goes the distance wins via split decision.
Fight 2: Shane Didristoforo2-1 (united) vs Josh Baker 1-0 (Rhino)
Josh Baker wins with a devistating Arm Bar 48secs into rnd2. Shane and his corner take turns yelling at the matchmaker about unfair weight advantage.
The Decristoforo vs. Baker fight is now at a catch weight of 132 lbs.
Fight 3 : Sean Boisclaire vs Bret Braxton
Boisclaire wins at the 2min 54sec mark of rnd 2 due to the ref stopping the fight after a weak triangle that turned into a non existant Arm Bar. The crowd cries foul and Brett Braxton looks on in disgust as Boisclaire's arm is raised. *Chris "Kumite" Rowley wanted to let the ref know that that was a bullshit call. I, "The Artist", happen to agree. Ammy's need to be watched closely so injury doesn't occur, but that stoppage wasn't even close to fair. You'll let a downed opponent take numerous hard shots to the head before calling a fight, but a guy goes to re-position his grip and you call it tapping. I hope the crowd let you know from their jeers that you called that one wrong.
Fight 4: Nick Logan vs Tunde Odumuso (Team United Muay Lao)
Logan wins with a sick Kamura at 1min 13sec of rnd 1
Fight 5: Billy Giovanella 3-1 (Connor’s) vs Kody Nordby 1-0
This one goes the distance. Kody Nordby is a beast with energy to spare. His aggressive style and hard hitting earn him a unanimous decision.
Fight 6 : Daniel Piggott 1-0 vs Tom Venticinque 2-1(Team United Muay Lao)
The ref stops this one before Venticinque turns the lights off on Pittsfield's own Daniel Piggott. The official decision is TKO due to repeated unanswered strikes at 2min 38sec of rnd 1. Before Venticinque leaves the cage he steps up to the mic and makes a vague reference to some fight he wants Promoter Pete DiLorenzo to setup. Maybe when DiLorenzo returns from his extended Vacation he'll let us in on that call out?
145 Amateur Title
Fight 7: Thane Stimson 4-0 (Pradal-Serey) vs Sergio Cabrera 3-1 (BMAC)
Thane dominates his way to victory despite Sergio's suckerpunch at the start of round 2. Ref stops the action at 1min 39sec rnd 2 due to TKO from unanswered repeated strikes. Next time Sergio should think twice before coming out of his corner initiating a glove touch and then swinging for the fences instead.
Fight 8: Dan Cormier 5-2 (Team United Muay Lao) vs Chad Kelly
Another long distance fight running out the clock after three rounds. The judges score it a split decision giving Dan Cormier the Flyweight title.
Chad Kelly didn’t make weight so its at a catch weight of 129 lbs. Due to the shedding of the amateur belts AFO has decided to give the winner of this fight the belt. Very frustrating for Dan Cormier who walks around at 125lbs and nobody can make weight to fight him but to be fair this is only Chad Kelly’s second fight. Keep your chin up Dan!Professionals
Fight 9: Brendon Hoxie (Independent) 4-8 vs Nelson Gaipo (Old School MMA)4-4
Brendon Hoxie wins earns a hard fought battle via Traingle Choke at 4min 10sec of rnd 3. These guys dug deep.
Fight 10: Sam Elliott (Boneyard) vs Franklin Isabel (Waikru)
Sam Elliott pulls off a huge victory after three grueling five minute rounds and takes the judges decision unanimously.
Fight 11: Shawn Baker 1-2 (ccfa) vs Ralph Johnson 4-4
He may be fighting out of a black Chevy van, but he still knows how to stop a fight. Ralph Johnson ends this one with a devestating knee to the face of Baker that ends it early in the first round. 1min and 2sec officially.
Fight 12: Theo Desjardin 2-2 (Team United Muay Lao) vs Christian Rivera 5-10 (Independant)
Knees seem to be the way to go if you are a pro tonight. Theo destroys Rivera and takes advantage of the downed fighter and finishing him with a flourish of strikes. Ref Quon stops the contest after 3min and 55sec of rnd 1 making Desjardin the new AFO 125lb title holder.
Thanks to Nick, Pete, Pete, and Mark at AFO for letting us sit and watch awhile. Thanks also to the crew and manager at Wonderland for allowing us great access to everything a reporter needs when out in the field. Keep it up and good luck with future events.
