New England Fights is back tonight with an action packed card. The card is much smaller than the usual NEF style but it will be a solid night nonetheless. They have a total of 10 fights in which 4 of them are professional ones. Also they will have 4 title fights which I can't even remember the last time NEF had that. NEF has a new announcer tonight and the national anthem has just been sung. They started off the night with a girl's wrestling match which was fun to see! Now the fights are about to start so please follow along as I do my best to recap the action.

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]
Bangor, Maine (February 12, 2024) – New England Fights (“NEF”) presents its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 57: All the Smoke,” on April 20, 2024, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional catchweight bout to the card. Kam Arnold (2-1) has signed to meet Derek Shorey (4-10) at a fight weight of 140 pounds.
Kam Arnold will make his return to the NEF cage after an absence of more than four years. It will be his first professional fight with the promotion after having competed elsewhere in three pro MMA fights and two pro boxing bouts. Arnold has a storied history with NEF dating back to his amateur debut in 2017. He won the promotion’s amateur bantamweight championship and successfully defended it twice. Arnold was a perfect 6-0 in NEF’s cage as an amateur with all six wins coming by way of knockout. Additionally, Arnold married his wife at “NEF 39” in 2019 – the first and only wedding to ever be held in the promotion’s cage.
“I’m beyond thrilled making my highly anticipated return to not only Maine but the promotion who birthed a fast rising, violent finisher,” exclaimed Arnold. “It’s been a long time coming and you guys are in for a treat. You’ll see the precision, rhythm, timing, and distance management for sure, but when you feel that same tenacity I exploded onto the scene with you’ll realize what you guys have been missing for so long.

Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional women’s strawweight bout to the card. Glory Watson (6-1) has signed to meet Ana Martinez (3-3) at a fight weight of 115 pounds.
Glory “The Fury” Watson has had a storied fight career with NEF over the course of the last six years. She had an amateur record of 6-1 and captured the NEF Amateur Women’s Flyweight Championship. Bangor, Maine (October 22, 2023)
The opposite of a snowbird who flees the north for warmer climes in late autumn, Shawna Lee Ormsby is as eager to leave Orlando, Florida, for an early November vacation in Bangor, Maine, as she is to fight hometown hero Glory Watson in a mixed martial arts crossroads bout.
“This is one of the places and states that I’ve been eager to visit, so the fact that I get to compete there is just even cooler,” Ormsby said. “I appreciate untouched nature, and I’ve just heard such beautiful things about the place. I’m originally from Buffalo, so being upstate and cold, I’m used to that. I’ve always heard that it’s beautiful up there, and I appreciate that kind of stuff.”
Her love for animals and their natural habitat notwithstanding, the 31-year-old Ormsby (2-4) also is more serious about her combat sports career than ever. Taking the call from New England Fights (NEF) to be part of a main event was a no-brainer even if they told her the fight was in an Iowa cornfield or Wyoming rodeo barn.

Bangor, Maine (October 20, 2023)
After 36 years of life and 31 professional fights, THE Ryan Sanders has developed the wisdom to revel in the roar every time he gets the chance to walk through the door of the New England Fights (NEF) mixed martial arts cage in his neighborhood of Bangor, Maine.
Sanders (21-10) will headline a list of what is expected to be no fewer than five combatants out of VisionQuest Muay Thai in nearby Newport when he scraps with Sage Philippe (4-5) in a professional welterweight bout at “NEF 55: Glory Days” on Saturday, November 11.
“Extremely excited. It’s always a blessing to be able to fight in my hometown,” Sanders told host Ryan Jarrell in a recent episode of Between Rounds Radio. “And not only that, but we’re rolling in deep. We’ve got a crap ton of guys on there, so it’s just gonna be quite the night for us.It’s palpable. You can feel the energy even before the fights start. It’s amazing. It’s so cool to fight in my hometown.”

📰 NEWS--📰GLORY WATSON: “I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SPORT. IT’S MY FAVORITE THING THAT I’VE EVER DONE”
[NEF PRESS RELEASE]
Bangor, Maine (October 18, 2023)
Maine has long been ahead of the curve in the category of embracing and elevating its most exceptional female athletes. Perhaps the greatest evidence is rooted within a short radius of Bangor, Maine.
For decades inside the venerable, v-roofed Bangor Auditorium and its bustling descendant, Cross Insurance Center, the legendary likes of Cindy Blodgett and Amy Vachon starred on the court and later have been lauded as hall of fame basketball players.
Their personalities and performances held such sway that spectators converged in droves to celebrate their every move, sometimes double or triple the number that would attend the men’s high school and college games in the same arenas.
Another gifted women’s athlete has arisen from that cradle of champions along the banks of the Penobscot River, and Glory Watson’s rabid fan base has honored her as a similar superstar in regional circles.

📰 NEWS--📰ED DAVIS ON FIGHTING IN BANGOR: “I AM LIKE A LITTLE KID AT CHRISTMAS, GIDDY TO FIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HOMETOWN”
[NEF PRESS RELEASE]
Bangor, Maine (October 13, 2023)
Ed Davis has gone to war in the New England Fights (NEF) mixed martial arts hexagon at two different venues in Portland, Maine, and now famously as part of a Professional Fighters League (PFL) card in The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
He’s a little biased, but Davis believes none of those audiences create a more rambunctious and invigorating ambiance per capita than the spectators who pack the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine, a stone’s throw from his home base of Brewer.
“I can’t even put it into words. I am like a little kid at Christmas, giddy to fight in front of the hometown. Nobody brings energy like Bangor,” Davis said. “All the hometown fans come out. Once they all get together under one roof, it’s crazy. Last time I was in Bangor, the noise in the building was almost the same as in Madison Square Garden.”

Bangor, Maine (October 6, 2023) – New England Fights presents its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 55: Glory Days” on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur featherweight bout to the card. Brandon “BAMF” Maillet-Fevens (4-4) is scheduled to face Eddy Peña (2-2) at a fight weight of 145 pounds.
Brandon Maillet-Fevens has had all of his amateur MMA fights to date in the NEF cage. He started his career at 3-1, earning himself a featherweight title shot at “NEF 44.” Maillet-Fevens has now challenged twice for the featherweight strap, most recently at “NEF 53” last summer. All four of Maillet-Fevens wins have come by finish with three submissions and one technical knockout. He represents Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu based in Lewiston, Maine.
“I couldn't be happier to be coming back home to the Queen City,” exclaimed Maillet-Fevens. “I've been working hard and I'm excited to show the fans the improvements I've made in my game. Eddy's a tough kid, but he's not on my level and on November 11th I plan on proving once again that I'm one of the very best in this division.”

Bangor, Maine (October 5, 2023) – New England Fights presents its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 55: Glory Days” on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of a professional featherweight bout to the card. Derek “Shatterproof” Shorey (4-9) will meet Anthony Vasta (3-4) at a fight weight of 145 pounds.
41-year-old Derek Shorey will make his return to the MMA cage after an absence of over six years. Shorey, who began competing in the sport in 2010, was a regular on NEF cards in the early days of the promotion. He made his pro debut at “NEF 14” in 2014. Shorey appeared in the NEF cage a total of 16 times between 2012 and 2017. Apropos for an event taking place on Veteran’s Day, Shorey is a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
“I am so excited to get back in that NEF cage, and give the NEF fans the best performance of my career,” exclaimed Shorey. “I don’t want to call this a comeback, as I feel like I never really even scratched the surface of my potential. That regret in and of itself is the reason I’m stepping back in the cage. Those closest to me that have learned of my interest in getting back into MMA have expressed concern, asking me all of these ‘what if’s,’ and the only response I can logically come to is simple. I would much rather live the rest of my life in a wheelchair than having to live with the regret that has tortured me for the past six years. I stepped away from MMA for personal reasons, but my own ‘what if’ never went away.
