📰 NEWS--📰WATSON TO FACE TOUGH INTERNATIONAL TEST AT ‘NEF 57’ IN BANGOR

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Bangor, Maine (February 28, 2024) – New England Fights (“NEF”) presents its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 57: All the Smoke,” on April 20, 2024, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional women’s strawweight bout to the card.  Glory Watson (6-1) has signed to meet Ana Martinez (3-3) at a fight weight of 115 pounds.

Glory “The Fury” Watson has had a storied fight career with NEF over the course of the last six years.  She had an amateur record of 6-1 and captured the NEF Amateur Women’s Flyweight Championship.  Watson turned pro in 2021.  She is currently riding a six-fight win streak including thrilling victories over the likes of Hilarie Rose (6-7), Gabriella Gulfin (5-5), and Natalie Schlesinger (2-2).  Watson is expected to get the call up to the next level of the sport at any time now. She represents Young’s MMA in Orrington, Maine.

“Every time I step into the cage, I face a different set of challenges,” exclaimed Watson. “On April 20th, my next challenge is in the form of Ana Martinez. Martinez has shown that she isn’t afraid to stand and bang! I am excited to show off more of my skills against a tough athlete! This is going to be an amazing show with some of the best fans in regional MMA. New England Fights has been my home for the past six years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to fight for the promotion once again. Bangor is ready to welcome all of the talented fighters coming to put on a show!”

A native of Ecuador, Ana “Dinamita” Martinez will compete in the United States for the first time in her career at “NEF 57.”  All of her previous MMA and kickboxing bouts have taken place in Ecuador and Peru.  Her previous opponents have an impressive combined record of 23-8-3.  Martinez represents Cultr Fight Team and Renzo Gracie Jersey City.

“I'm coming to take over MMA in the USA,” said Martinez. “I don't care who my rival is, I'm going to come in and crush her! My goal is glory.”

“NEF 57: All the Smoke” will mark NEF’s debut in the Cross Insurance Center arena, the room that played host to the UFC’s only stop in Maine to date back in 2014 for “UFC Fight Night 47.” Doors will open at 5 pm with the first fight taking place at 6 pm on April 20.
