CAGE TITANS XXII 1/24/2014 TEASER

Cage Titans is all ready to kick of another exciting year of mma.  Fight fans will be riding high with the adrenaline of the New England Patriots going to the Superbowl and UFC in Boston Mass that happened last weekend.  Bring all that energy and excitement to Cage Titans fight fans because it is going to be another solid show.  There are a total of 13 fights on the card in which 4 of them are professional fights and 4 of the amateur fights are title fights.  Tickets are available online at the link here and they start at just $45 for general admission.  Special thanks to Cage Titans for working hard during the holidays to get this card ready for us all.  Let me break down each and every fight for you all.

135lb AM  Andres Rodriguez (2-0, Sityodtong) vs Will Smith (1-0, DCNU)

The first fight will be an amateur fight between Andres Rodriguez and Will Smith at 135lbs.  Andres trains out of Sityodtong and comes into this fight with a 2-0 record.  Andres has one win by ko/tko and the other by decision with wins over Chris Suarez and Robbie Fraser.  He was very well disciplined in his last fight and controlled the fight to pull away with the victory.  His opponent is Will Smith and he is trains out of CT with DCNU.  He comes into this fight with a 1-0 record with a decision victory over Joe Albani at a previous WNXFA show.  This is going to be a great battle to kick off the show and set the pace for the night.

145lb AM  Jose Rustrian (2-4, Boston Combat) vs David Espino (2-2, Team Trifecta)

Next up at 145lbs Jose Rustrian challenges David Espino in the Cage Titans cage.  Rustrian trains with Boston Combat and comes into this fight with a 2-4 record.  He has 1 win by submission and lost 3 fights by ko/tko.  The other ones I was not able to find online.  He is a seasoned amateur who will be ready for war.  His opponent is David Espino and he trains out of Team Trifecta.  He comes into this fight with a 2-2 record.  In his 4 fights he has 1 win by ko/tko and 1 win by submission.  He has 1 loss by submission and  1 loss by decision.  On paper this is a real close match up and in return is once again another solid fight for Cage Titans.

125lb AM  Brendon Stephenson (0-1, Team BKJA) vs Robbie Fraser (0-1, SSSF)

At 125lbs Brendon Stephenson will face off against Robbie Fraser.  Brendon trains with Team BKJA and comes into this fight with an 0-1 record.  He lost his only battle by submission against Jessie Pires.  He is making his gone but not forgotten brother Shayne Stephenson very proud by fighting in the cage!  He is still hungry for his first taste of victory.  His opponent is Robbie Fraser and he trains out of SSSF.  He also comes into this fight with an 0-1 record and ready to bring home the W.  He lost his only fight by unanimous decision against Andres Rodriguez.  I saw both of their last fights and I am anxious to see how hard they have been working and how they have improved since the last battle.

145lb AM  Chris Labe (0-0, Team Anubis) vs Devin Carrier (1-1, Lauzon)

Next up Chris Labe takes on Devin Carrier at 145lbs amateur.  Labe trains out of Team Anubis and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Devin Carrier who will be fighting out of Lauzon's MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 1-1 record.  He lost one fight by decision and won one fight by decision.  I think it is safe to say he knows how to go the distance.  In his last fight he earned amateur fight of the night with his fast paced all action stand up battle against Stephen Langlais.

145lb AM  Mark Cardarelli (2-1, Rivera Athletics) vs Angel Rodriguez (0-1, Boston Combat)

At 145lbs Mark Cardarelli returns to the Cage Titans cage against Angel Rodriguez.  Mark trains out of Rivera Athletics and of course is the father of Remo Cardarelli.  He comes into this fight with a 2-1 record and looking to leave with a 3-1 record.  He has 1 win by decision and 1 win by submission.  His only loss came by decision back in 2012.  His opponent is Angel Rodriguez and he trains with Boston Combat.  He comes into this fight with an 0-1 record.  He lost by ko/tko to Joe Giannetti at the last Cage Titans event.  This seems like another tough fight for Angel Rodriguez but he is ready for the challenge.

170 AM Title Fight Carlos Correia (DCNU 3-0) vs. Paul Gaffney (Team Link 4-1)

In the first title fight of the night Carlos Correia is looking to take the belt away from the returning champion Paul Gaffney in the 170lb showdown.  Carlos trains out of DCNU and comes into this fight with a perfect 3-0 record.  He has one win by submission and 2 wins by decision.  He has fought some tough opponents in his amateur career so far and this one will be his toughest to date.  In his other battles he made it look easy and controlled his opponents the majority of the time in the cage.  His opponent is Paul Gaffney and he trains out of Team Link NH.  He comes into this fight with a 4-1 record.  He has 2 wins by decision, 1 by submision and 1 by ko/tko.  His only loss came by a decision to Andrew Tripp.  Gaffney is very well rounded fighter whom like Correia is used to controlling his opponents by overpowering them.  This fight is a 5 rounder and is going to shake up the rankings for sure.  I see this one as going deep into the rounds and it will be a ground battle.

155 AM Title Fight Jimmy Manning (CCFA 5-2) vs. Billy Connors (3-0 Boston Muay Thai)

In the second amateur title fight Jimmy Manning takes on Billy Connors at 155lbs.  Manning trains out of CCFA and comes into this fight with a 5-2 record.  He has 1 ko/tko 2 sub and 2 decision victories so far in his amateur career.  For his losses he lost 1 by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  He won the belt against Dan Lopez and this will be his first time defending it.  His opponent is Billy Connors and he trains out of Boston Muay Thai.  He comes into this fight with a 3-0 record.  He has 2 wins by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  On paper Manning is the more experienced fighter but one could argue we have not seen Connor's true potential yet.  The belt is on the line and this is going to another awesome fight for Cage Titans.

145 AM Title Fight Ricky Proctor (Lauzon 4-1) vs. Jeff Perez (4-2 SBG East)

In the 3rd amateur title fight of the night Ricky Proctor defends his title against Jeff Perez at 145lbs.  Proctor, the brother of Joe Proctor trains with Lauzon MMA and comes into this fight with a 4-1 record.  He has 2 wins by submission,  1 by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  His only loss came due to an injury against Ruso Khubejashvili.  This will be his first time defending the belt as well.  His opponent is Jeff Perez whom is very worthy of this title shot.  He trains with SBG East and has put together a nice 4-2 record.  He has two wins by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 1 by decision.  In his two losses he lost 1 by unanimous decision and 1 by split.  I see this fight being an all out war with it being mostly a stand up battle.  Both of these fighters have proved that they hit hard and can finish their opponents no matter where the fight takes them.  With pretty much the exact same record that makes this another huge title fight on the card this Saturday.

135 AM Title Fight Manny Bermudez (6-1 SSSF) vs. Max Barrett (4-3 CCFA)

For the last amateur title fight of the night Manny Bermudez defends his belt against Max Barrett at 135lbs.  Bermudez fights out of SSSF and comes into this fight with an impressive 6-1 record.  All 6 of his victories have come by way of submission.  His only loss came by submission against Grant Mosley.  Now he is defending his belt once again against another tough opponent.  Barrett trains out of CCFA and comes into this fight with a 4-3 record.  He has 3 wins by ko/tko and one by decision.  For his losses he lost 2 by submission and one by ko/tko.  The keys to this fight for Bermudez is to be careful of Barrett's striking and get the fight to the ground and work his submission.  For Barrett, it is the opposite, keep the battle on its feet and wear down Bermudez deep in the rounds.  Remember folks this is a 5 rounder and it is going to be an awesome fight.

180 PRO Sean Lally (CCFA 1-1) vs. Tunde Odomusu (2-2 Independent)

In the first professional fight of the night Sean Lally takes on Tunde Odomusu at 180 lbs.  Lally trains out of CCFA and comes into this fight with a 1-1 record.  I was not able to find much of his information but found his one loss was by submission.  Under the training of Loco Lobo I know he will be ready for anything.  His opponent is Tunde Odomusu and he is an independent fighter.  He comes into this fight with a 2-2 record with two wins coming by decision.  His 2 losses came by submission but I know he has taken many fights last minute.  This one he has had the proper time to plan for so it should be an exciting one.  This fight is going to be lots of stand up and I predict a ko/tko stoppage for this one.

125 PRO Anthony Carmenatty (0-5 Independent) vs. Nick Iaciofano (0-0 USMMA)

At 125lbs Anthony Carmenatty takes on Nick Iaciofano for the second pro fight of the night.  Carmenatty is an independent fighter who comes into this fight with an 0-5 record.  He lost 3 by submission, 1 by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  He is still looking to bring home his first victory of his pro career.  His opponent is Nick Iaciofano and he trains with USMMA.  He will be making his pro debut and he had an impressive 4-0 amateur record.  I may not be able to pronounce is last name but I can tell you Nick has a solid ground game.  He will be looking to use that to get the finish by submission this Saturday.  This is a very tough fight for Carmenatty in my eyes.

185 PRO Chip Moraza-Pollard (8-7 CCFA) vs. Ralph Johnson (9-12 FAF)

Next up at 185 lbs Chip Moraza-Pollard takes on Ralph Johnson in what is sure to be a war.  Chip trains out of CCFA and has an 8-7 record. Chip has 4 wins by ko/tko and 4 wins by decision.  For his losses, he lost 5 by decision, 1 by ko/tko and 1 by submission.  His opponent is Ralph Johnson and the 6 foot fighter comes into this fight with a 9-12 record.  He is training out of FAF and finally has an opponent that will stand with him.  Ralph has 9 wins all by ko/tko and majority of his losses are by submission.  This fight has fight of the night written all over it.  I see this one going down as an all out stand up war!  You don't want to miss this fight.

130 PRO Billy Giovanella (8-2 Connor's MMA) vs. Johnny Campbell (10-5 SSSF)

At a catch weight of 130lbs Billy Giovanella challenges Johnny Campbell for the main event.  Giovanella trains out of Connor's MMA and comes into this fight with an 8-2 record.  He has 4 wins by decision, 3 by submission and 1 by ko/tko.  For his losses he lost 1 by ko/tko and 1 by submission.  Giovanella is used to taking his opponents down and controlling the fight on the ground until he can work his finish.  He had a little trouble making weight in his last fight which is very unlike him so I know he will have no problem this time.  The red hot Johnny Campbell trains out of SSSF and has a record of 10-5.  He is on a 5 fight win streak and has outworked his opponents in all 5 of them.  He has 5 wins by decision, 4 wins by ko/tko and 1 by submission.  The way I see this fight is that Giovanella will try to get this fight to the ground and control it.  Campbell will want to keep the fight standing and work his jabs to nail the decision.  If he can't keep the fight standing then he is going to be in for a long night.  Both of these fighters are veterans in the professional side of fighting so I know this one is going to be one to remember.

There you have the complete breakdown of the Cage Titans 22nd card.  They will be rocking Plymouth Memorial once again and it will be a night to remember.  The Artist and I plan to make the trip out to Plymouth to cover the show for you all as long as weather is permitting.  Special thanks to Cage Titans for putting this awesome card together and for having their fight card readily available and up to date.  Hope to see you all there and I am excited because it has been way tooo long since I have covered a show for you all.
