Victory is spelled R-A-V-E-N-O-U-S!

Team Ravenous of ATA Martial Arts Center in South Deerfield, MA celebrated Saturday evening as two of it’s own successfully submitted their opponents in the first rounds in both instances.
Jeremy “The Boss” Reipold, 1-0, fought for exactly one minute and fifty-three seconds. His game plan from the beginning was “to keep it standing” because he was confident that Fred “Count Drac” Mandracchia would be looking for a quick take down.
Jeremy’s coach and training partner Todd Selva asked if he had to submit Mandracchia how would he do it. Although Reipold could have kept it a stand up game for sure the question was fair and after some thought, Reipold declared “by Triangle.”
Well if you haven’t seen the video, yet I suggest you do, but since your already reading my poor excuse for an article I will go ahead and tell you, Jer didn’t disappoint us. In fact the accuracy with which he was able to execute the planned offense and defense is a testament to the abilities he possess as both a student and a coach.
Then there was Jake “The Mule” Smith, 2-0, who dominated his rival after a few shaky seconds at the opening of the round. As always though Jake’s speed is something to see in action. In an instant what seemed like a costly mistake turned to winning advantage as Jake took Abate to the mat obtaining side control immediately. After defending a weak guillotine Jake pulled Abate by the neck up and over his own body flipping the 135lb man with raw power. Once Jake found a home for both leg hooks it was no longer a contest. He demonstrated how versatile he really is by submitting Anthony by way of Rear Naked Choke in one minute and thirty-seven seconds which should be enough to silence anyone who thought he was just a wrestler who could ground and pound. Which by the way is how he won his first fight. Showing a great deal of promise this young man will continue to improve, continue to expand his arsenal, and most importantly continue to please anyone that comes to see a fight.
Well that’s enough from me. Let’s hear what you all thought and or think.
