This card was stacked with 10 fights. It featured a nice mixture with two grappling matches and with 8 MMA amateur fights including a first ever for PFC women’s match. This was an outside event setup outside of Maximum Capacity in Chicopee, MA. The lighting was excellent inside the tent and there even was a fog machine!
Right when WesternMassMMA arrived there was an opening cover band called Lincoln Park(pictured below) playing inside the tent near the back. This really set the fight atmosphere and got the crowd pumped with a slew of popular rock songs from Linkin Park.
Fight 1 Nick Berube(Dow’s Academy M.A.) vs. Seth Larue(Gladiator BJJ/American Fight Team)
This fight was a grappling match and was reffed by Gabriel Santos. This grappling matches were based on points. There was some great grappling standup in the beginning and Berube starts out on top. Larue then does a quick reversal and ends up winning the match 5-3.
Fight 2 Brendan Hoxie vs Barrington Douse(Gladiator BJJ/American Fight Team)
This was a grappling match that was also reffed by Gabriel Santos. Barrington came out and when they were in the clinch he pushed Hoxie up against the fence and got the takedown. The ref then moved them more in the middle of the cage. Hoxie then sweeps and gets full mount on Barrington and finishes him off with a leg triangle. Barrington was forced to tap. The pic below shows Barrington standing with Hoxie having his legs locked trying to keep this fight onto the ground.
Fight 3 Eduardo Fonseca(Cooper) vs. Tim Corcoran 205lbs.
Fonseca comes out swinging. They were battling for a while until Corcoran gets kneed in the groin. The ref gives him a few minutes and they go right at it again. Fonseca stuns Corcoran with a good punch and immediately jumps on him and grounds and pounds him until the ref stops it. Fonseca wins.
Fight 4 Rico Disciullo(Sityodtong) Vs. Anthony Abate 140lbs.
Rico comes out and gets a quick takedown. Then throws some hard punches and ends up getting the knockout. Definitely knockout of the night.
Fight 5 Nicolas Pallini vs Richie Lamontagne 140lbs.
Nick comes out and quickly gets full mount. He then attempts to get Richie in an armbar but Richie skillfully slips out of it. Nick then gets Richie in a standing guillotine and wins in 41seconds in Rd 2.
Fight 6 Matt Leddick(NY Boxing) vs Rafael Cruz(American Fight Team/Gladdiator) 175 lbs.
They both come out battling. Cruz gives Matt a good kick to the midsection. I could hear the sound from where I was. Cruz gets Matt up against the fence and gives him some good punches to the head. Cruz then gets the takedown and gets full mount. He then goes for an arm triangle attempt and the bell sounds.
Round 2 starts and again Cruz gets Matt up against the cage. Cruz gives Matt some good knees. Cruz then gets the takedown with a huge body slam. Cruz then gets full mount and they battle it out til the buzzer sounds.
Round 3 Cruz gets a takedown.They battle it out for a few minutes until Leddick goes for a triangle choke from the bottom but was too late and the bell goes off.
This was my favorite fight of the night. It went to decision and Cruz takes the victory unanimous decision. 29-28.
Fight 7 Roxanna Velez(Kamikaze) vs. Jessy Miele 145lbs.
Roxanna comes out with a fury throwing bombs left and right. She gets Jessy with a few good shots and Jessy uses her speed to get behind Roxanna and gets a jumping takedown. She finishes Roxanna off with a rear naked choke in Round 1.
Fight 8 Henry Irizarry(Kamikaze) vs James Poe(Blue Devil Fight Team)
Poe comes out looking jacked and in excellent shape. They both come out swinging punches in bunches and Irizarry pushes Poe up against the cage. Poe then reverses out of it and they start battling again. Poe gets Henry with a few good shots and overpowers him against the cage. Henry has nothing he can do but to take cover. The ref then stops the fight but Poe continues to try to go around the ref to go after Henry. I am not sure if Henry said something to Poe during the ref stoppage or if Poe just wasn’t sure if the fight was over or not. One thing is for certain these guys wanted to battle. The crowd then chants Round Two, Round Two!! The ref made the right call and disqualified Poe for not listening and still trying to fight and Irizarry gets the win. Not the way he wanted the win but it was still a win. I hope to see these guys again in future action so we can get a Round Two!
Fight 9 Antony “Squirrrel” Carmenetty vs. Angel Laboy
They both coming out throwing some kicks and a few jabs but Laboy gets the takedown and ends up getting Squirrel into a guillotine choke and gets the win in round 1.
Fight 10 Lewis Corapi(Sityodtong) vs Sam Nadeau(American Fight Team/Gladiator MMA) 155lbs.
They both charge each other and exchange a few punches. Nadeau then backs Lewis into the fence. Lewis then uses some good takedown defense and ends up getting the takedown. Lewis than takes the back of East Long Meadows native Nadeau. The buzzer sounds.
Round two starts and Lewis controls the fight and ends up getting Nadeau into the crucifix position. Lewis throws some nasty punches to the head of Nadeau. He then takes Nadeau’s back and ends up getting the rear naked choke for the win. I enjoy watching both of the Nadeau brothers fight. They are always entertaining and put on a great battle.
