CES 6: Nowhere To Hide 6/10/2011 Review

This review is written by Jose "The Assassin" Lopez...it is his first review written for us so please be nice to him! Photos taken by Joe "The Artist" Leonard and edited by The Artist.

Fight 1: Jon Marcheterre(Mixed Breed) 0-1 vs Dinis Piava Jr.(Keith Allen’s Fighting Academy) 0-0 145lbs.
round 1
Dinis looks more ready for this fight. As Jon looks more relaxed.
Low kick to start the fight from Dinis. One, two from Jon pushing Dinis back. A brutal left kick to a one, two drops Jon. Dinis follows Jon to the mat and finishes the fight due to ground n pound.

Fight 2: Kenny Hazzard(Team Execution) 2-3 vs Dan McGuane(Gillette’s MMA) 2-0 205lbs
round 1
Kenny comes in hard like a linebacker and gets caught in a guillotine which McGuane uses to force Hazzard to the mat. Dan turns Kenny to the mount position . Kenny rolls gives Dan his back. Dan sinks in a rear naked choke and ends the fight.

Ralph Johnson(Independent) 4-2 vs Tim O'Connell(Omaplata) 3-3 170lbs
round 1
Ralph is a tall looking MF. Tim shoots takes Ralph down starts the ground n pound flurry. Starts working in the rear naked choke succeeds.

Barrington Douse(AFT) 7-9 vs Jason Bennett(AMA) 4-4 140lbs
round 1
Barrington comes in to some AC/DC TNT, HAHA.
Good exchange from both fighters. take down by Jason. Douse looks for the ankle lock but Jason defends well. Now Douse is in full guard. Bennett looking for the triangle. Both fighters stand circling around the ring. Douse landing some low kicks and lands one in the jewels. Fight resumes both fighters lock up on the cage. Douse landing some knees. Hard elbows from Bennett, but both fighters look tired. Great first round
round 2
Both fighters circling around the ring. High kick from Douse rocks Bennett. Bennett is rocked. Douse takes down Bennett looking for the rear naked. Both fighters taking this opportunity to rest. Bennett lands in full guard as the round ends.
round 3
Both fighters look in good shape at start of the round. Bennett trying ps3 moves but nothing is landing. They clinch up as Douse lands some knees to the thighs. Douse landing some flying knees but gets caught in mid air and gets slammed. Bennett in full guard. Douse breaks away and gets up and clinches Bennett up and starts the knees again.  Bennett starts a flurry landing some one twos and threes as the bell rings.
Jason Bennett defeats Barrington Douse via unanimous 29-28 decision.  Very close decision.  Could have went either way.

Abe Pitrowski(Tim Burrill) 5-0 vs Marc Stevens(Jiu-Jitsu Nation) 13-6 175 lbs
round 1
Both fighters circled. Marc with a college style takedown. Abe trying to work in a guillotine. Abe gets up  but Marc takes him down again to land in side control. Marc starts working elbows to the body and head. Marc moves to full guard then side control. Marc gets up and starts working the legs of Abe. Marc jumps back to side control. Marc is working some knees ends up in full guard. Abe sinks in a deep guillotine but Marc escapes. End of round.
round 2
Both fighters engage in some boxing. Marc shoots takes Abe down lands in side control.. Marc gets up and starts kicking Abe’s legs jumps back to guard. Marc is landing some hard shots on Abe from side control.  Marc controlling this round from the side mount most of the round. round ends.
round 3
Respect from both fighters to start the third round. Abe trying to work some Muay Thai but Marc is onto his game. Marc shoots again with a beautiful takedown lands in side control. Marcs working Abe’s ribs with some knees. Marc gets Abe back but Abe reverses  to get full guards. Marc is landing good shots from from top. Marc moves to side control where he has been dominated throughout the fight. Abe is bloody as the round ends.
Marc Stevens defeats Abe Pitrowski via unanimous.

Saul Almeida(Dragon Lair) 8-1 vs Cody Stevens(Fight Farm/Team Never Surrender) 8-1 157lbs
round 1
Saul comes out swinging but Cody scoops him up and slams him hard. Saul reverses to get top control. Saul landing some hard elbows. Saul controlling from full guard. Cody throws up a triangle but Saul defends well. Cody gets a deep arm and head triangle ,once again Saul defends. Saul gets to side control to end round one.
round 2
Saul bringing Muay Thai to start the round. No answers from Cody yet. Cody shoots and is trying to scoop Saul and succeeds with another hard slam to land in half guard.Saul reverses to get the top position and starts hammering down some shots. Cody scoops on e of Saul’s legs but Saul sprawls hard to get half guard again. Saul throwing some flurries from top to end the round.
round 3
Saul with a hard leg kick and front teep to start the round. Cody looks tired as he tries a takedown but Saul ends up on top. Cody reverses and gets back on the feet. Cody slams Saul again to land in half guard. Saul reverses to get to Cody in full guard. Saul looking for a Kimura but Cody defends. Saul drops back to get Cody’s ankle to end the round. Cody looks tired and hurt as he sits on the stool. Good fight!

Damien Trites (Wai Kru/AFT) 5-4 vs Jeff Anderson (B+F Boxing) 8-3 155lbs
round 1
Damien throws a right and gets a double leg into Jeff’s full guard. Damien’s working some elbows from the top. Damien gets to mount, but Jeff gets up . Damien ends up on top again working the side control. Damien goes for a guillotine but Jeff defends. Damien throws up a good triangle Jeff is holding on though. Round ends.
round 2
Both fighters exchange in a barrage of combos, but Jeff gets the better of it and takes Damien down. Jeff is working some ground n pound. People are yelling to stand them up because there’s no action as Jeff is just holding down Damien. Damien is using the cage to slowly get up. Damien locks a triangle again but Jeff is defending good. Jeff escapes from the triangle to end round two.
round 3
Damien comes out swinging and gets a takedown. Jeff gets a  guillotine from half guard but Damien looks like he's using this to rest and pick his time to escape. Now Damien gets a tight guillotine but Jeff escapes. Jeff works some ground n pound from Damien’s full guard.  Damien looks like he's going for Jeff’s arm  but doesn't get the chance to lock it. Round ends. Winner split decision Jeff Anderson

Alex Karalexis(SSSF, Sityotong) 10-5 vs Tiawan Howard(Team Rising Dragon) 8-7 170lb
round 1
Alex comes out to RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, DOPE!!!!
Alex gets a mean sweeping takedown. Alex working some heavy ground n pound. Howard gets up, but Alex holds the double under arm clinch and sweeps the leg to get another takedown. ALEX gets a hard knee as Howard stands. They both are exchanging but Howard is landing some hard combos drops Alex then tries for a Kimura. Fight is stopped to by Ref Kevin so that Alex can put the mouth piece he spit out back in after the Kimura attempt and both men stand. Round ends seconds later.
round 2
Alex lands some leg kicks to start the round. Now both men are exchanging in some good Muay Thai. Back and forth action from both fighters. Alex is finding a home for that low leg kick. Howard lands a huge right that drops Alex, but Alex recovers and scoops Howard up and slams him hard. Round ends with Alex in the guard of Howard.
round 3
Alex comes out swinging hard and tries for a single leg and succeeds. Alex is working the body of Howard on the ground. Alex is landing some hardcore elbows as the crowd goes bonkers. Both fighters stand but Alex shoots and scoops Howard for a huge slam. Alex gets to side control back to half guard landing some big shots from top. Howard gets up and starts a flurry of punches, but Alex shoots under the barrage and the round ends.

Tiawan Howard defeats Alex Karalexis via split decision

Both corner men start a huge fight in the crowd. Mayhem everywhere people getting arrested bloody faces and girls gone wild. HOLY SH** WHAT A WAY TO END A GREAT NIGHT OF FIGHTS!

Refs:3 and that’s thanks to Kev the Ref being there.  He brought the what I would have considered one of the poorest ref’d events up to a 3 all by himself.  The other guy is a joke and should rethink his methods.
