AFO 4/27/2013 Night of Champions Review

Warchild and I arrived at the event with a half hour to spare.  I see Prime Athletics, Suckerpunch Athletics and Get Punched here.  Sudden Impact has their sweet ride inside the banquet room.  John Vena is our host for the evening.  Pete surprisingly does not have the leather jacket this time.  Perhaps, a new year, turning a new leaf :)  Kevin the Ref, Steve Rita, Paul Asimar and Dave Ginsberg are here from the commish.  For local celebs so far I have seen Chad Kelly, Michael Strazzere and Krystyne, Doomsday, Kin Moy, and Kody Nordby. .AFO gives 15 minutes of silence to honor the victims in the Boston Bombing.  Doomsday Howard is in the Prime Athletics Booth.  Vinny Sharma is singing the National Anthem.  Very nice Vinny!!  Then Katrina sang America the Beautiful.  Now onto the fights.

Submission of the Night:  Lewis Corapi armbar over Leon Davis...great come from behind win and wins the AFO title.
KO/TKO of the Night:  Devin Pilkington over Jamie Courtney....they ruled it a tko but it sure looked like KO to me.
Blunder of the Night:  Paul Asimar was it an armbar or a choke???  Also is it Boxboro or Boxborough.  Somebody please explain LOL

It was a great night of fights at AFO.  The trip wasn't bad from Western Mass which was a bonus.  Promo Pete and the rest of AFO team did a fantastic job.  The show ran smoothly with a few blips like the sound kicking off a few times but nothing major.  The fans got their moneys worth with 15 fights which made for five hours of nonstop MMA.  There was no intermission which was nice, that way the night went faster.  Pete did an excellent job with the matchmaking.  I mean look at the review, if I counted right there were 6 decisions, one of them a draw and two of them a split.  AFO will be returning in June 29th and we will keep you posted when we hear more.  All of our photos will be posted on our fanpage.  Thanks to AFO for having us.
