Combat Zone returns with their 46th installment of New Hampshire MMA. This will be the second show under the Kattars' ownership and I know they will be much more comfortable in their roles. They have surrounded themselves with good people and that will only make them better. Ryan Fennelly(from Bone MMA) has helped with the matchmaking and there are many good fights on this one. As of right now there are planned 12 fights total with 4 professional fights. Tickets are still on sale and they start at $40 bux here and of course at the box office. We plan on making the trip and it is only about an hour and a forty five minutes from where we live in Western Mass and I encourage everyone to come check them out. They had awesome lighting and about 20 screens all around the room so no matter where you are you would not miss the carnage in the cage. Let me break down the card for you....
165lbs Nick Torresi 0-1 (IND) vs Dan Lynch 0-1 (Spero MMA)
For the first fight Nick Torresi takes on Dan Lynch at 165lbs. Nick is an independent fighter and comes into this fight with a 0-1 record. Nick is an interesting fighter, that is for sure. His last fight he lost by a rear naked choke in just 59 seconds. He did some crazy kicks and got the crowd excited with his unorthodox striking. He took that fight last minute but this time he has been on the card for a while so he should have plenty of time to train. His opponent Dan is from Spero MMA. He also has an 0-1 record in which he lost a decision to James Murrin. This should be a great fight to get the crowd pumped and one way or another one of them will be walking away with their first amateur victory.
190lbs Kristian Lombari 0-2 (Team Fury) vs Tim Fields 1-0 (Team Link NH)
In a catchweight fight of 190lbs Kristian Lombari will face off against Tim Fields. Kristian is from Team Fury and comes into this fight with an 0-2. He lost both of his fights by submissions in the first rounds. He is still hungry for his first taste of victory but he has a tough road in this fight against Tim. Tim is from Team Link NH and has an 1-0 record. He won his only fight at New Hampshire Fight League by split decision against Jon Parker. This fight was an awesome battle in which kept the crowd excited with their non stop action. I am hoping this fight will be much more of the same!
140lbs Paulo Alves De Sousa 0-0 (BMAC) vs Jordan Yantin 0-0 (Untamed MMA)
Next up Paulo Alves De Sousa takes on Jordan Yantin at a catch weight of 140lbs. Paulo is from BMAC and will be making his amateur debut. His opponent Jordan is from Untamed MMA and he will also be making his amateur debut. Not much insight to add to this fight but I am anxious to see how these two match up in the cage.
170lbs Justin Boraczek 1-0 (Spero MMA) vs Nick Alley 1-0 (Team Link)
Justin Boraczek will face off against Nick Alley at 170lbs. Justin has a 1-0 record and trains with Spero MMA. He won his first fight against Scott Coburn at a previous Combat Zone by tko stoppage to strikes. He will be looking to do the same in this fight. Nick is from Team Link and also has a 1-0 record. Nick also won at a previous Combat Zone by tko stoppage to strikes. This should be a good fight with two guys having the same record and from two excellent schools up in New Hampshire.
185lbs Brad O'Brien 0-0 (Triumph BJJ) (Tyngsboro, MA) vs Jake Kohn 1-0 (CCFA)
For the fifth fight of the evening Brad O'Brien takes on Jake Kohn at 185lbs. Brad is from Triumph BJJ and will be making his amateur debut. Being from Triumph and under John Fain, I know he will be ready for anywhere in the cage. Jake is from CCFA and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record. I wasn't able to find any fight information on Jake but being from Cape Cod Fighting Alliance, I know he will be ready too. This is another good match up between two prestigious schools in New England.
185lbs Xavier Vargas 2-2 (Spero MMA) vs TBA
When I received this fight card earlier in the week Xavier was still awaiting an opponent. I will update this when/if I find out he gets an opponent.
170lbs Joey Getchell 0-0 (Intenze MMA/CNBJJ) vs TBA
When I received this fight card earlier in the week Joey was still awaiting an opponent. I will update this when/if I find out he gets an opponent.
130lbs Jack Greene 2-2 (Cagestrikers) vs Jay Perrin 3-1 (Triumph BJJ)
For the last amateur fight of the evening Jack Greene takes on Jay Perrin at a catch weight of 130 lbs. Jack is from Cagestrikers and comes into this fight with a 2-2 record. He won his first two fights and then lost his last two fights. He is looking to get the W and take his record to over .500. He has a tough opponent in Jay. Jay is from Triumph BJJ and has a 3-1 record. He lost a decision and then bounced back and 3 straight fights. Two of them were wins by decision and in his latest victory it was by submission. This fight is going to be a great battle and should be a good way to finish off the night of amateur fighting.
145lbs Pro John Santos 0-1 pro 5-4 (Team Fury) vs Aaron Petrucelli 2-1 (Mass BJJ)
In the first pro fight of the evening John Santos takes on Aaron Petrucelli at 145lbs. John was a 5-4 amateur and is 0-1 as a pro. He is from Team Fury and will be looking for his first pro victory. He lost his first pro fight to Joey Gomez by knockout. His opponent Aaron is from Mass BJJ and has a 2-1 record. For his wins he has a submission and a decision victory. His only loss came back in 2009 to Aniss Ahlhajjajy by decision. This fight is going to be a ground battle and if I had to choose I give the slight edge to Aaron.
Pro 180lbs Ray Shawdee 3-2 (Iron House) Vs Eddie Brito 3-4 (Team Fury)
For the second professional fight of the evening Ray Shawdee fights Eddie Brito at 180lbs. Ray is from team Iron House and has a 3-2 record. He won by two submissions and one tko/ko to strikes. For his two losses he lost to Chip Moraza Pollard by decision and to Ryan Sanders by submission. His opponent Eddie is from Team Fury and comes into this fight with a 3-4 record. He has won two by ko/tko and one by submission. For his losses he lost 3 by ko/tko to strikes and one by submission. One thing to note is he hasn't fought since 2010. As you can see this is a real close match and is anyone's fight to take.
140lb pro Rodrigo Almeida 11-2 (CNBJJ) vs Walel "The Gazelle" Watson 11-6 (Team Hurricane Awesome)
Rodrigo Almeida squares off in the cage against Walel Watson at a catch weight of 140lbs. Rodrigo comes into this fight with an 11-2 record and is from CNBJJ. He has won the majority of his fights by submission and decision. He is always entertaining to watch and has excellent jiu jitsu skills. For his only two losses he lost them both by submission. He hasn't lost since 2010. Walel is from Team Hurricane Awesome and has an 11-6 record. He has fought for the UFC 3 times and has won the majority of his fights by decision. For his losses he lost 1 ko/tko 3 submissions and 2 by decision. This is a real close match up and a good test for both fighters. I think this fight will be settled on the ground and it is going to come down to who doesn't make the mistake and get caught. This is a fight of the night contender for sure!
170lb pro Nate Lamotte 12-6 (Team Burgess) vs Jason "Righteous" Norwood 12-3 (Legionnaire Fight Team)
In the main event Nate Lamotte returns to the cage against Jason Norwood at 170lbs. Nate is from Team Burgess and has a 12-6 record. He has 2 ko/tko , 7 submissions and 3 decision victories so far in his career. He lost 4 by submission and 2 by decision. In his last fight he lost a submission to Brett Oteri back at Reality Fighting in 2012. He is looking to make a statement in this fight and he has a worthy opponent in the cage once again in his career. Jason has a 12-3 record and is from Legionnaire Fight Team. He has fought for Bellator before in his career. He has 3 ko/tko, 6 submission and 3 decision victories. He has lost 1 ko/tko and lost 2 by decision. He is coming up from New Jersey and will be looking to take that W home. This has fight of the night all over it and is going to be an awesome battle. This one is too close to call but I will be rooting for the hometown favorite Nate Lamotte!
There you have the entire breakdown of the Combat Zone 46 fight card. As you can see there were a few holes in the fight card with them missing a few fighters but I am optimistic that they will fill that in by Friday Night fights. I would like to thank the Combat Zone for keeping us in the loop so we can share their information with you all. Warchild and I will be making the trip up north to cover the show for you all. This will be my second time visiting Combat Zone. 2 out of 46 shows isn't bad right? :)
