🚨BREAKING--🚨FULL FIGHT CARD ANNOUNCED FOR NEF 47

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Auburn, Maine (April 29, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 47: The Battle of L/A” on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, Maine.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the full fight card for the event.

A much-anticipated grudge match will feature on the professional portion of the card as Jesse “The Viking” Erickson (10-8) takes on Matt “Ken Doll” Denning (5-12) at a catchweight of 165 pounds.  Erickson trained Denning for many years at Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) before the pair had a falling out.  The lead-up to the fight has been filled with plenty of drama and trash talk on social media.  It has become one of the deepest blood feuds in the ten-plus year history of NEF.  Erickson and Denning will look to settle their differences in the cage on May 14.

In another anticipated pro bout, “The” Ryan Sanders (18-9) faces Mark “Pockets” Gardner (2-2) in a welterweight contest.  Sanders will make his return to the cage after a hiatus of more than three years. Gardner continues to fight top-level opposition and looks to continue his winning ways after a second-round technical knockout victory over Nick Alley (7-5) at “NEF 45” last fall.

Glory Watson (2-1) will look for the third straight win of her professional career when she meets Natalie Schlesinger (1-0) in a strawweight bout.  Watson handed Alibeth Milliron (2-1) her first pro loss earlier this year at “NEF 46,” and looks to do the same for New Jersey’s Schlesinger on May 14.

Also on the pro card will be Mohammad Al Kinani (2-0) who will seek the third win to start his pro career.  Al Kinani is coming off back-to-back knockouts in his first two pro bouts. Experienced ground fighter Ross Dannar (0-0) from Nostos MMA hopes to play the role of spoiler to Al Kinani in the lightweight fight.

The amateur portion of the card will be headlined by two title fights.

Tyler Smythe (4-2) is scheduled to defend the NEF Amateur Flyweight Championship against Nevada’s DeQuan Meeks (4-3).  Smythe won the title last fall at “NEF 45” and is coming off a successful defense earlier this year at “NEF 46.”  Meeks will compete in Maine for the first time and is also a regional titleholder in his own right.

Felipe Günter (4-1) will defend the NEF Amateur Bantamweight Title against Billy Markle (4-1).  Günter won the strap last fall with a third-round submission over Teddy Politis (2-1) at “NEF 45.”  Markle will make the trip from New Jersey in his mission to capture the belt.
