AFO card Saturday Jan 3, features western Mass fight team.

AFO’s post holiday card is shaping up to be a very intriguing night of mma action. Headlining is one of New England’s most promising fighters, South Shore Sportfighting’s undefeated Ken Stone facing likewise undefeated Muay Thai fighter Nam Nguyen. An interesting matchup of styles will bring out what MMA fans tune in for- excitement and display of a variety of skills.

Also appearing on the show is Brazilian Daniel Sucuri, who made his professional debut on AFO’s Thanksgiving eve card. Studying in Brazil under Daniel Gracie, the 205 pound Sucuri has shown poise and skill in the ring, and is one of the nicest guys you could meet out of the cage.

LA Boxing will again be represented by Tim O’Connell and former championship wrestler Brian Mareno, who will face Dragon Warrior’s Steve Butler in what may be the best fight of the night. The skillful ground fighter Mareno won a narrow decision over Stoughton’s Miguel Diaz while the strong, determined Butler lost in a give and take war with prospect Franklin Isabel.
Speaking of Isabel, who fights out of Doomsday in Chelsea, he will be making his professional debut, facing veteran Pete Reveredo of Fall River.
Doomsday will also be debuting two new amateurs, Nick Kassizas and Jacob Trainer, both at 185 pounds.

In the rich 185 pound division, Maurice McNeil, who showed a tremendous amount of potential in an exhibition with Paddy Thompson in November, will face Dorchester’s Ryan Francis, an all-round fighter and Army reservist.
Another intriguing rematch, which also has potential for fight of the night, pits Silver Dragon’s Mike Flores against Dragon Warrior’s Josh Spearman. As two of only a handful of 125 pounders in the area, they are both determined to prove who the best small man in New England really is.
Silver Dragon, of Agawam, MA, led by Keith Gordon, will also be featuring 170 pound Mike Kitteridge facing South Shore Sportfighting’s James Malvesti and the amateur debuts of Don Fonceca and police officer John Hall.*
