After we ate, we had some time before the fights would start, and I got a chance to talk to my good friend and NortheastMMA head honcho, Old School. We chatted about the card, and about how excited we were for the great match ups we were about to see..
The place was a little slow to fill up, and never seemed to reach the amount of the last few shows, but there were still plenty of hungry MMA fans waiting to see blood!! On to the fights!!
Fight 1 - Eric Sommers (CTMMA) vs Ricardo Georges (TPS) 185lbs
rd1 - Ricky is fighting above his weight class here, and although he's in great shape, Eric is the bigger guy in the cage. Ricky comes out with a kick, and Eric shoots for the take down. Ricky grabs a guillotine on the way down, and Eric passes to side. They scramble and Eric throws up a nice triangle, that takes Ricky a good 30 seconds to escape.Eric works a full guard, and they stand back up. They clinch up, and Ricky gets a nice throw and back into guard to end the round.
rd2 - They circle and trade a few standing. Ricky shoots in and gets the take down. Ricky postures and throws some heavy punches, but Eric reverses, and ends up on top into mount. Eric throws down some of his own ground and pound, and takes Ricky's back. He works in his hooks, gets the belly pin, and sinks in a fight ending rear naked choke. winner, Eric Sommers rd2 submission, rear naked choke.
Fight 2 - Rob Font (sityodtong) vs Thane Stimson (Alpha Male) 145lbs
rd1 - Thane comes out pushing the pace, but Rob looks relaxed and ready. They trade punches, and Rob is getting the better of the stand up, mixing in nice leg kicks with his punches. Thane starts to push for a take down, and eventually gets it. He can't do much though, as Rob gets back to his feet. Thane is relentless, and scores another take down. Rob works for an arm bar, but Thane slams him to the cage floor, and escapes, before the round ends.
rd2 - They come out circling, and throwing and Rob connects with a left hook that drops Thane to the floor. Rob follows up with a couple more on the dazed Stimson, and ref Dan Mirgliotta has seen enough!!

Fight 3 - Brendan Rooney (CTMMA) vs Leroy Derricot (Renegade Kumite) 155lbs
rd1 - The fighters engage, and almost instantly Leroy drops Brendan with a nice combo. He pounces on and starts to unload some ground and pound. Just as I think Brendan is done for, he grabs Leroy's arm, rolls him over and cranks the straight arm bar for the Tap out victory!!! WOW great job keeping his poise, finding a limb, and taking it home!! winner Brendan Rooney 37 sec rd1 submission arm bar.
Fight 4 - Chris Simmons (Strikezone) vs Aniss Anhajjajay (TPS) 150lbs
rd1 - The fighters are quick to clinch up, and both start to throw knees to the body. As they clinch, Aniss works his way to the side, and jumps to take Chris's back. Chris tries to slam Aniss off, but isn't successful. Aniss trys to work the rear naked choke for most of the rest of the round, until Chris escapes to bottom side control to end the round.
rd2 - Chris comes out the aggressor, and they trade punches. Aniss looks to take it to the ground, but Chris ends up putting him on bottom instead. He looks for a leg lock, and Aniss defends, and plays some bjj of his own. They scramble for position, and Aniss takes the back yet again where he works for a rear naked. The fighters make their way back to standing, and both quickly shoot at the same time. Aniss takes the top position, and tries a Kimura before the round ends.
rd3 - Aniss comes out and shoots, Chris stuffs his attempt, and works some ground and pound. Aniss reverses, and begins to work some of his own ground and pound from the top. Chris tries a triangle but Aniss defends well, and rides out the rest of the round on top side control.

Fight 5 - Jesse Peterson (SSSF) vs Jason Ward (Black Dragon) 185lbs
rd1 - Both guys come out swinging for the home run KO!! Jesse is throwing looping over hand punches with his head a bit low, and Jason latches on for the guillotine.Jesse pops out, and is looking for the take down against the cage. Jason escapes, and they are back to throwing bombs. Jason drops Jesse with a punch, but Jesse quickly turns the knock down into a take down attempt. Jason grabs a guillotine yet again, and this time pulls guard. Jesse defends well and pops his head out. He soon finds himself defending a Kimura attempt that looks deep! Jesse defends, and they are back to their feet. Once again they are throwing with bad intentions, and Jesse is dropped for the KO!!

Fight 6 - Kaline Medieros (Gillette MMA) vs Peggy Morgan (Team Triumph BJJ) 135lbs
rd1 - Kaline comes out aggressive throwing outside leg kicks. Peggy is keeping her distance trying to work her boxing. Kaline looks for the clinch take down against the cage, but Peggy defends. They trade knees in the clinch, and Peggy takes it to the mat into full mount. She works some ground and pound, and Kaline tries for a knee bar, but Peggy defends well, and finishes the round on top.
rd2 - They circle and trade punches and kicks. Kaline is throwing a leg kick followed by a looping over hand right, and they clinch up. Peggy gets another take down into half guard where she works some ground and pound. Kaline looks in big trouble, and the ref steps in... I couldn't see from where I was, but apparently there was an illegal strike to the throat, and Peggy has 1 point deducted. They are back to it, and Kaline connects with a couple nice leg kicks to end the round.
rd3 - Peggy comes out stalking, and Kaline is throwing her big looping rights and leg kicks. Both women are showing damage, as Peggy gets another clinch take down into half guard, She postures for more ground and pound and finishes the round on top.

Fight 7 - Jimmy Collins (Lauzon/Kimura) vs Jeremy Ross (Gladiator BJJ) 155lbs
rd1 - Jeremy comes out very aggressive working his reach and throwing his jab. He then rushes in and fires off some vicious knees. Jimmy shoots in for the take down, and Jeremy grabs his neck in a guillotine choke, and pulls guard.It's real deep, and Jimmy is forced to tap!!

Fight 8 - Andres Juedi (Sityodtong) vs Matt Besette (Underdog BJJ) 155lbs
rd1 - Both fighters circle and feel each other out. Andres throws a high kick that misses. Matt tries for a take down but Andres defends. Both fighters seem a bit cautious, and respectful of each others power.They clinch against the cage, and trade knees and punches. Matt is trying for the take down, but Andres will have non of it. More knees from the Mangler, and one finds it's way to Andres's groin. Time is called, and after a brief rest, they touch gloves and are back at it. Another clinch and they trade knees as the round ends.
rd2 - They come out and trade low kicks. Matt is scoring with inside and outside leg kicks, and he lands a big right hand. Andres fires up a vicious high lick that seems to be blocked by Matt, but we soon realize he is hurt, and wobbling. Andres comes forward for the kill, connecting with punch combos, but Matt clinches up.He regains his ground, and gets a nice throw to put Andres on his back. Matt is in side control and starts to work short elbows and punches. He tries for a North-South choke, but is unsuccessful. More elbows, then Andres reverses to the top as the round ends.
rd3 - The fighters come out and trade some punches, and they both miss with high kicks. Matt is coming forward with punches, and clinches into the cage and scores a take down. He looks to take the back, but never fully secures the position.Andres scrambles his way to the top position, in Matt's guard. Matt tries but is unsuccessful at a Kimura, and Andres look to pass the guard. As he pushes Matt's legs aside, Matt fires up and illegal kick to the jaw, and Andres looks hurt. He can't continue, and the fight is over.

Fight 9 - Main Event 170lb Title Fight
Nate LaMotte (Team Burgess) vs Bret Oteri
rd1 - The fighters come out trading...Bret is firing kicks, high and low, while Nate is throwing hooks. They start to mix it up, and both guys are landing.Bret is really busy with the kicks, but Nate keeps punching, and several are finding Bret's face. A brief clinch and both guys land some nice knees. Back to trading standing, as the round ends. Bret is bleeding at the bell.
rd2 - Both guys come out with more of the same. Punches and kicks galore... no one is bored with this main event!! Bret keeps looking to hurt Nate's legs, and fires several low kicks. Nate is eating the kicks, and trading them for big punches, and Bret is hurt with some nice hooks. They continue to trade, and Bret wants to take it to the ground. Nate defends, and the round ends.
rd3 - Yet again, these warriors come out swinging, trading big punches, and pounding kicks. Bret hurts Nate with a punch, and Nate shoots. Brett sprawls well, and tries to choke Nate with a guillotine. Nate defends, but Brett takes his back, and quickly works the rear naked choke for the tap.
