March 12, 2015
CES returns for their second event of the year that will be on AXS TV this Friday March 13, 2015. They have a star studded card featuring 11 professional fights. The doors should open around 6pm and the fights should start promptly around 7pm. This will be their 28th event and they continue to keep rolling out the best top ranked fights in New England in the professional division. This card is headlined by Rick Hawn versus Derek Loffer. Another recently added fight that I am most excited about is Mike Mucitelli against Tyler King. One last tidbit I would like to share is the two Western Mass fighters on the card and that is the pro debut of Sarah Payant and Chad Kelly returning to the cage. Let me break down the card for you...
125 PRO CHAD KELLY (FAA 3-1) vs. JESSE GUTIERREZ (Connor's MMA 0-0)
In the first pro fight of the night Chad Kelly takes on Jesse Gutierrez at 125lbs. Chad trains out of Fighting Arts Academy and comes into this fight with a 3-1 record. He has two submission victories and in his last fight he won by a jaw-dropping knockout over Ken Murphy. His only loss came by the hands of Remo Cardarelli by submission in Rd 2 at a previous Cage Titans. Now he finds himself in another tough fight against Connor's MMA fighter Jesse Gutierrez. Jesse had a 3-3 record as an amateur and is fresh off a big win over rising CCFA's star Ryan Kane. Jesse used excellent striking to win the rounds and in the end take the decision. Jesse never backs down and is not afraid to stand and strike and give the crowd what they want. This is going to be an awesome back and forth battle and it is way too close to call.
145 PRO JAMES MURRIN (Broadway JJ 2-2) vs. LIONEL YOUNG (Redline 6-13
Next up at 145lbs James Murrin squares off against Lionel Young. Murrin trains with Broadway JJ and comes into this fight with a 2-2 record. He won 2 of his fights by ko/tko to strikes and lost 2 fights by decision. He has proven he can go the distance and has out smarted his opponents with his striking. His opponent is Lionel Young and he trains out of Redline MMA. Lionel comes into this fight with a 6-14 record. Out of his 6 wins, he has won them all by way of submission. For his losses he has lost the majority of them by submission and by decision. Lionel has the fight experience in this fight and is a tough fighter to finish. I see this one going to be a stand and bang battle.
125 PRO SARAH PAYANT (Gladiator BJJ 0-0) vs. JANICE MEYER (Power of One 0-0)
At 125 lbs Sarah Payant takes on Janice Meyer in a double pro debut. Payant trains out of Gladiator BJJ and had a 6-6 record as an amateur and has fought pretty much every 125 lb female in New England. She trains hard and is no doubt ready for her pro debut. Her opponent is Janice Meyer out of New York. Her team is Power of One and she had a 3-2 record as an amateur. In her last amateur fight against Fernanda Araujo she won the Gladius 135 female title by decision. I can see this fight being a stand up battle as both of these fighters know how to strike well.
155 PRO LEWIS CORAPI (Sityodtong 6-1) vs. JAY BAKANOWSKI (FAA 2-1)
Then at 155lbs Lewis Corapi challenges Jay Bakanowski in the CES cage. Lewis trains out of Sityodtong and comes into this fight with a 6-1 record. He has a tough time getting opponents and thankfully Bakanowski has stepped up to the challenge. Lewis has 3 wins by ko/tko, 1 by submission and 2 by decision. His only loss in his pro career came against Marc Stevens in which he lost a decision. His opponent is Jay Bakanowski who trains out of Fighting Arts Academy. Jay comes into this fight with a 2-1 record with 1 win by tko/tko and 1 by submission. His only loss came against Leon Davis by decision. Both of these guys are solid on the ground and I see this one being a back and forth battle and once again is another solid match up for CES.
145 PRO KYLE BOCHNIAK (Broadway JJ 4-0) vs. DOMINIC WARR (Wai Kru 5-5)
At 145lbs Kyle Bochniak takes on Dominic Warr in the first televised fight of the night. Kyle trains out of Broadway JJ and has a perfect 4-0 record. He has 1 win by ko/tko, 1 by submission and 2 by decision. He has fought some tough fighters in his career and this one is one as well. His opponent is Dominic Warr who trains out of Wai Kru. He comes into this fight with a 5-5 record with 1 win by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 3 by decision. For his losses he lost 1 by ko/tko, 1 by submission, 2 by decision and 1 by DQ. He loves to stand and strike and is very entertaining fighter to watch in the cage.
135 PRO KIN "KONG" MOY (Redline 6-1) vs. JOEY GOMEZ (Team Link NH 5-0)
In a bantamweight showdown Kin Moy takes on Joey Gomez. Moy trains out of Redline MMA and comes into this fight with a 6-1 record. Moy has 2 wins by ko/tko, 3 by submission and 1 by decision. His only loss came at a Bellator in which he lost a split decision that many people thought he won. He has wins over very tough fighters in his pro career and is taking on Gomez whom many think is the top guy in New England. Joey Gomez is training with Team Link NH and has an undefeated record of 5-0. Gomez has all 5 wins settled in the first round by ko/tko against very tough fighters. This fight is going to be a fight of the night contender and it is anyone's fight to win! I can't predict who will win because it is too close but I will say I believe Gomez will be going into the 2nd round for the first time in his pro career!
`135 PRO ANDRE SOUKHAMTHATH (Blackzillians 8-2) vs. BRIAN KELLEHER (Bombsquad 11-7)
In another bantamweight showdown CES fan favorite Andre Soukhamthath takes on Brian Kelleher. Dre trains in Florida with the Blackzillians and comes into this fight with an 8-2 record. His only two losses were by decision and one of them was to Kin Moy who is also on the card. He has 4 wins by ko/tko, 3 wins by submission and 1 by decision so far in his professional career. He is known for his striking and has been improving each and every fight. His opponent is Brian Kelleher from Bombsquad. He comes into this fight with an 11-7 record. He has 5 wins by ko/tko, 5 wins by submission and 1 by decision. For his losses, he has 4 losses by submission and 3 by decision. He has fought for Bellator twice in his career and has knockout power. This fight is going to be a real treat for the fans as I see it being a stand up war.
185 PRO TODD CHATTELLE (Tri-Force MMA 12-11) vs. ROGER CARROLL (RFS 15-11)
Todd Chattelle returns to the CES cage against Roger Carroll at 185lbs. Todd trains out of Tri-Force MMA and comes into this fight with a 12-11 record. He has 9 wins by ko/tko, 2 by submission and 1 by decision. He is on a two fight losing streak that he would just looove to break for all the CES fans this Friday and viewers at home. For his losses he lost 5 by ko/tko, 4 by submission and 2 by decision. His opponent is Roger Carroll and he trains with Renegade Fighting System. He comes into this fight with a 15-11 record. He has 14 wins by submission and 1 by decision. For his losses, he 1 by ko/tko, 5 by submission and 5 by decision. CES fans will remember him in the cage against Chuck O'Neil in which he lost by decision. Todd is going to want to keep this fight standing and look for the knockout or work a decision. Carroll will want to get this fight on the ground and work a submission as that is his bread and butter.
HVY PRO MIKE MUCITELLI (Tai Kai Jiu Jitsu 7-1) vs. TYLER KING (Connor's MMA 8-2)
In a heavyweight showdown Mike Mucitelli will be facing off against Tyler King. Mike was originally supposed to fight Greg Rebello but Ribz had to pull out. Luckily Tyler King has stepped up and salvaged the fight. Mike comes into this fight with a 7-1 record and trains with Tai Kai Jiu Jitsu. He has 1 win by ko/tko, 5 by submission and 1 by decision so far in his pro career. He has fought for Bellator 7 times including the NC against Jeff Nader. His only loss came to Liam Geary by ko punch at a previous Bellator event. His opponent is Tyler King who trains with Connor's MMA. He comes into this fight with an 8-2 record. King has 3 wins by ko/tko, 4 wins by sub and 1 by decision. His only two losses came by a decision to Randy Smith and ko by Eric Bedard. Again, I know I sound repetitive but this is another solid match up and has fight of the night all over it.
155 PRO LUIS FELIX (NE Combat 12-8) vs. REGGIE MERRIWEATHER (Genocide MMA 6-5)
Then at 155lbs Luis Felix takes on newly changed opponent Reggie Merriweather. Felix trains with NE Combat and comes into this fight with a 12-8 record. He has 4 wins by ko/tko, 5 by submissions and 3 by decision. For his losses, he lost 2 by ko/tko, 3 by sub and 2 by decision. He has had many impressive wins at CES and he will be looking to continue that streak. His opponent is Reggie Merriweather who trains with Genocide MMA. He comes into this fight with a 6-5 record with 3 wins by ko/tko and 3 wins by decision. For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 3 by decision. It should also be noted that Merriweather usually fights at 145 but he did take this fight just this week. I see this one being a stand up battle and going to a decision.
155 PRO RICK HAWN (19-4 Sityodtong/PMA ) vs. DEREK LOFFER (9-2)
In the main event Rick Hawn faces off against Derek Loffer at 155lbs. Hawn trains with PMA and Sityodtong and comes into this fight with a 19-4 record. The Bellator star is looking to get in some wins locally and finish his career with UFC. He has 11 wins by ko/tko and 8 by decision so far in his pro career. For his losses he lost 1 by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 2 by decision. As you can see Hawn is hard to finish and can go the distance with anyone! He will be looking to make a statement and no doubt will take that KO if its there. His opponent is Derek Loffer who comes into this fight with a 9-2 record. He has 6 wins by ko/tko, 2 by submission and 1 by decision so far in his pro career. For his losses he lost 1 by ko/tko and 1 by sub. This is a close fight for both fighters and I see it going to a decision.
