CES 29 6/12/2015 TEASER

CEs returns with their 29th show this Friday 6/12/2015.  The live portion of the show will of course be aired on AXS.TV and the complete card contains 12 pro fights.  The show will take place at the Twin River Casino and will start around 7pm.  The fights on AXS should start at 9pm but check your local listings to make sure.  The main event is Chuck O'Neil defending his CES MMA title against Dominique Steele.  Let me break down the card for you.  I added in the weight classes so if I am wrong please let me know and I will fix them but I think the majority of them will be right.

145 PRO RICARDO SCALISSI (Gracie Fusion 2-2) vs. DEVIN PILKINGTON (NE Combat 0-2)

The first pro fight of the night is between Ricardo Scalissi and Devin Pilkington at 145lbs.  Scalissi comes to CES out of Brazil with a 2-2 record.  He has 1 win by ko/tko and 1 by submission.  For his two losses he lost both of them by submission.  He trains with Gracie Fusion and he isn't coming from Brazil to go home with a loss.  His opponent is Devin Pilkington and he trains with NE Combat.  Devin comes into this fight with an 0-2 record and is still hungry for his first pro victory.  He lost both of his fights by ko/tko to strikes. I see this fight as being a ground battle and I think Devin will match up nicely with Ricardo.

170 PRO TOBY ODEN (Rivera Athletics 1-1) vs.  WAYNE AHLQUIST (LRVT 1-1)

At 170lbs Toby Oden will take on Wayne Ahlquist.  Oden trains out of Rivera Athletics and comes into this fight with a 1-1 record.  He has 1 win by submission and one loss by decision.  His opponent is Wayne Ahlquist and he trains out of Lake Valley Region Tudo.  He also comes into this fight with a 1-1 record.  He has 1 win by ko/tko and 1 loss by decision.  As you can see the records are exactly identical so it really can't get any closer of a match up than this!

125 PRO KODY NORDBY (Allaire 3-3) vs.JESSE GUTIERREZ (Connor's MMA 1-0)

Next match up is between Kody Nordby and Jesse Gutierrez at 125lb division.  Nordby trains with Allaire MMA and comes into this fight with a 3-3 record.  He has all 3 wins  by way of submission with wins over Andy Aeillo, Dan Cormier and Theo Desjardins.  For his losses he lost 2 by submission and 1 by split decision. He has been back training hard and is more than ready to put on a show for this fight.  His opponent is Jesse Gutierrez and he comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  Fighting out of Connor's MMA he is riding high with a win over Chad Kelly in which he won by submission with just 1 second left in Rd 1 at CES 28.  This one is going to come down to whether Kody can get his takedowns and control this fight.  Gutierrez is also very dangerous on the ground but I feel he has the advantage in the stand up and if he can defend the takedown, he will be very successful if he keeps the fight standing.

145 PRO PETE ROGERS JR. (Pete Rogers MMA 2-1) vs. EVAN PARKER (FAA 4-3)

Pete Rogers Jr. takes on Evan Parker at 145 pro battle for CES this Friday.  Rogers trains out of Pete Rogers MMA and comes into this fight with a 2-1 record.  For his wins he has 1 by ko/tko and 1 by submission to punches so far in his pro career.  His one loss came by submission to Brandon Fleming at Bellator 63.  Pete has proven that he can rock any opponent with his kicks or punches so be on the lookout fight fans.  His opponent is Evan Parker who trains out of Fighting Arts Academy.  Parker comes into this fight with a 4-3 record.  He has 1 win by ko/tko, 2 by submission and 1 by decision so he is very well balanced and can finish anyway possible.  In his 3 losses he lost all of them by way of decision.  In this fight Rogers is going to want to keep this fight standing and use his reach to keep his distance.  Parker will want to take this fight to the ground with his nasty takedowns and get in some ground and pound.

145 PRO JAMES MURRIN (Broadway JJ 3-2) vs. JOE PINGITORE (NE Combat 4-2-1)

In another 145 showdown James Murrin will challenge Joe Pingitore.  Murrin trains out of Broadway Jiu Jitsu and comes into this fight with a 3-2 record.  He has 2 wins by ko/tko and 1 by submission so far in his pro career.  Both of his losses came by decision and one of them was a razor thin split decision.  His opponent is Joe Pingitore and he trains with NE Combat.  He comes into this fight with a 4-2-1 fight record.  He has 1 win by ko/tko, 1 win by submission and 2 by decision.  He lost two fights by submission and has one draw against Sergio Cabrera.  This fight has fight of the night written all over it.  I see this one as being an awesome stand up battle and both fighters have proven throughout their career that they have the knockout power.

185 PRO ABE PITROWSKI (Burrill BJJ 6-2) vs. MIKE RODRIGUEZ (Trifecta 2-0)

At 185 lbs Abe Pitrowski will face off against Mike Rodriguez.  Pitrowski trains out of Burrill BJJ and comes into this fight with a 6-2 record.  In the win column he has 1 win by ko/tko, 4 by sub and 1 by decision in his pro career.  He lost 1 by submission and 1 by decision.  His opponent is Mike Rodriguez and he comes into this fight with a 2-0 record.  He trains with team Trifecta and has very dangerous stand up.  He won both of his pro fights by ko/tko all with first round finishes.  This is Rodriguez's toughest pro opponent to date and his unblemished pro record is on the line.  Pitrowski has the experience on his side so we will have to see if that is a factor. A win for Rodriguez would be huge for him in his young pro career but not if Pitrowski has anything to say about it!

135 PRO DINIS PAIVA (Keith Allen MMA 6-5) vs.BRUNO MARQUES (Chute Box 7-5)

At 135 lbs Dinis Paiva takes on Bruno Marques at 135 lbs.  Paiva trains with Keith Allen MMA and comes into this fight with a 6-5 record.  He is riding a 3 fight win streak with 4 wins by ko/tko, 1 submission and 1 by decision.  For his losses he lost 2 by submission and 3 by decision.  His opponent is Bruno Marques who trains with Chute Box out of Brazil.  He comes into this fight with a 7-5 record.  He has 5 wins by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 1 by decision in his pro career.  For his losses he lost 1 by submission and 4 by decision.  I feel Paiva will have the advantage on the wrestling and takedown aspect of this fight.  He has been working on his striking and proved he has knockout power but Marques has great striking as well. This one is going to be fun to watch how it all plays out.

155 PRO NATE ANDREWS (NE Combat MMA 6-1) vs.  JAY BAKANOWSKI (Wai Kru 3-1)

At 155lbs Nate Andrews will square off against Jay Bakanowski.  Andrews trains with NE Combat and comes into this fight with a 6-1 record.  He has 3 wins by ko/tko and 3 wins by submission.  He never lets the fight get to a decision except for his one loss  by decision to Gemiyale Adkins.  He is looking to get back to his winning ways.  His opponent is Jay Bakanowski who comes into this fight with a 3-1 record.  Fighting out of Wai Kru, Jay has 2 wins by ko/tko and 1 win by submission.  His only loss came by decision to Leon Davis.  As you can see both fighters are finishers and that makes for an exciting fight for the fans.  Nate will want to keep this fight standing and work his strikes to catch Jay off guard.  Jay will want to get in close and work his takedowns and take the fight where he wants it.

225 PRO GREG  REBELLO (Sityodtong 17-6) vs. TYLER KING (Connor's MMA 9-2)

In the heavyweight division Greg Rebello will square off against Tyler King.  Rebello has 9 wins by ko/tko, 1 submission and 7 wins by decision. He trains out of Sityodtong and as you can see is very well rounded.  This will be his 9th time stepping into the CES cage.  For his losses, he lost 2 by ko/tko, 2 by sub and 2 by decision.  His opponent is Tyler King who trains out of Connor's MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 9-2 record 3 wins by ko/tko, 4 submissions and 2 by decision.  He is on a 2 fight win streak and has 1 loss by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  To win this fight King will want to be in close and work the clinch strikes and get takedowns.  King is at his best when he has a fighter on his back which is where he has got most of his submission victories from. For Rebello to win he will want to work his strikes and test Tyler's chin.  Once Tyler is tired Rebello can earn his takedowns and work for a finish.

185 PRO HARLEY BEEKMAN (Bombsquad 7-2) vs. ERIC SPICELY (Burrill's BJJ 6-0)

At 185 lbs Harley Beekman steps into the cage against Eric Spicely.  Beekman trains out of Team Bombsquad and comes into this fight with a 7-2 record.  He has 4 wins by ko/tko, 1 sub and 2 wins by decision.  He lost 1 fight by submission and 1 fight by decision.  One of my favorite fights was his come from behind win against Erik Sommers in which he never gave up and got the finish in Rd 3.  His opponent is Eric Spicely and he trains out of Tim Burrill's BJJ.  He comes into this fight with a perfect 6-0 record.  He has 2 wins by ko/tko, 3 by sub and 1 decision and 5 out of 6 of them were finished in the first round.  This fight is going to be an awesome battle.  Beekman will want to work his takedowns and control the fight.  Spicely is very comfortable on the ground and is dangerous as they come on the ground.

145 PRO MATT  BESSETTE (Underdog BJJ 14-6) vs. KHAMA WORTHY (PTT 7-3)

The Mangler Matt Bessette finally steps into the CES cage for the first time in his career against Khama Worthy at 145 lbs.  Bessette trains out of Underdog BJJ and comes into this fight with a 14-6 record.  He has 3 wins by ko/tko, 4 subs and 7 wins by decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 submission, 4 decisions and 1 by DQ.  Bessette has never not been in a tough fight as he is never looking to pad his record.  The 7 time Bellator fighter is ready to show CES and the live audience how hard he has been working in the gym.  His opponent is Khama Worthy who comes into this fight with a 7-3 record.  He fights out of PA with Team Personal Training Tactics and has 5 wins by ko/tko and 2 decisions.  For his losses he lost 2 by ko/tko and 1 by submission.  I feel this fight is going to be a stand up battle for most of the fight.  In the end I see Bessette taking home the decision.

170 PRO TITLE CHUCK O' NEIL (Mass BJJ 15-6) vs. DOMINIQUE STEELE (Vision 12-5)

In the main event Chuck O'Neil defends his title against Dominique Steele at 170lb weight class.  Chuck trains out of Mass BJJ and comes into this fight with a 15-6 record.  He has 5 wins by ko/tko, 6 subs, and 4 by decision so far in his pro career.  For his losses he lost, 1 by ko/tko, 2 by sub and 3 by decision.  He comes into this fight riding a 4 fight win streak with 3 out of his last 4 he finished his opponents.  Coming out of Ohio, the challenger is Dominique Steele.  He comes into this fight with a 12-5 record and trains with Team Vision.  He has 3 wins by ko/tko, 3 by sub and 6 by way of decision.  For his losses, he lost 3 by ko/tko and 2 by decision.  As you can see Steele is a very worthy opponent for the title shot but we will have to see if he has what it takes when he has the Cold Steel in front of him.  I see O'Neil keeping his belt with a decision victory over Steele.

Well after writing 2 previews in one week, my hands are tired!  I hope you all enjoyed our previews as we broke down all the fights happening this weekend.  CES has put together another awesome card with the best in New England on it and it is no surprise why they are on AXS and selling out the Twin River Casino.  The Artist will be in attendance keeping you all up to date if you can't make the event so stay right here as we get you closer to the cage.
