CAGE TITANS XXVII EVENT REVIEW 1/30/2016

We arrived at around 6:45pm after taking a short pit stop at the local Papa Gino's.  The Artist, Warchild, Big Kym and I made the trip from western mass to see what should be another epic night of fights.  Mass MMA was giving out their awards and throughout the night.  I heard Sarah Click for ammy fighter of the year, amateur fotn was Max Barrett and David Espino, NEF for promotion of the year, Tyson Chartier for manager of the year, Joe Harrington for photographer of the year, Brian Minor for ref of the year and Young's MMA for team of the year.  Congratulations to all of the winners!  Cage Titans was still letting people into the event after the 7pm start and there was a local rock band that played that was very cool as well.  Ok now onto the fights, there has been some cancellations and they are down to 14 fights total.  All of the title fights and pro fights are still intact.  Harry Jones is the host of the evening to kick off their first show of 2016.  Follow along as I recap the night.

FIGHT OF THE NIGHT:  Shainis vs Moutinho!!
KO/TKO OF THE NIGHT:  Sean Murrin's KO
SUB OF THE NIGHT:  Rich Santiago's sub victory over Ryan Kane

Cage Titans next show will be April 9th so mark your calendars.  It was an awesome night of fights and of course the unfortunate accident.  The video is floating around on the interwebs and as many top mma sites will speculate, they weren't there.  Cage Titans ordered this brand new cage from a reputable cage company who provides for top organizations with top quality parts.  As you can see in the video, no locks or any pins go flying, just the poor unfortunate fighters.  Both of the fighters are fine, just a messed up rib and a cut for Collins.  The Mass Commission checks the cage before every event and inspects it, that is a fact.  The commission also has their employees lock the cage before each round, that is also a fact.  There is no way this is Cage Titans fault.  I saw Mike Polvere and Joe Lauzon testing the door and he was slamming into it with all his might and the door did not open.  Steve Rita and others tested the door on the other side and I saw him break through. Everyone has theories and most likely we will never know exactly what happened but what I can tell you is that it was an accident and will hopefully never happen again.  It was a crazy night of fights and this is just the start to the year of 2016 in mma.  Special thanks to Cage Titans for putting on a sold out show and for Hammersmith for the awesome sandwich at the end.
