Team Ravenous WCF 5 results

As always, WCF had a packed house, with a great fight card! It's always a pleasure to fight for this show. It is run very well, and quickly establishing itself as the best MMA show in the east. Team Ravenous 145lb. fighter Ethan Kean took on Dan Ferrer in the second fight of the night.
At the start, Ethan circled right, came in and scored hard with a right leg kick. Imediately following, Ferrer shot for a takedown, which was stuffed well by Ethan. In the tie-up Ethan tried for the sweep, but was denied. He pulled gaurd, and the ground battle ensued. As Ferrer tried to posture to try to strike, Ethan used his freak-like flexability and transitioned to a tight rubber-guard, where he controlled Ferrer from the bottom and stayed out of trouble. After about 30 seconds of this position, Ferrer finally popped up, and landed a few strikes, but was quickly sucked into a slick reverse-triangle from the bottom. Ethan held the choke for close to a minute, but Ferrer held on, and broke free. Ferrer tried unsuccessfully to pound Ethan out, but finally took full mount, where he transitioned to a side to North-South position, and slapped on a tight Kimura to get Ethan to tap with about 25 seconds to go. It was a very close fight, up until the end. Ferrer was a great fighter, and a class act. In his post fight interview, he gave Ethan tons of credit for his kicks, and admitted he wanted to go right to the ground.

In Team Ravenous' other fight of the night, Jose "Samurai" Lopez took on Wayne Harnois at 160lbs for the shows fourth fight of the night. Jose took the fight on less than 2 days notice, and it turned out to pay off.....IN A BIG WAY!!!
The fight started with both fighters circling. Jose landed a nice outside leg kick, and Harnois tried to answer with his own, but missed. Harnois then threw a wild head kick, way off it's mark, that Jose dodged easily. The fighters continued to circle, and around the 35 second mark of the first rd. Jose connected with a brutal high kick to the neck/head, that dropped Harnois to the canvas. Jose followed his opponent to the mat, and landed a few hammer fists for good measure. The ref. pulled him off, and the crowd went wild!!
It was amazing to be in the corner for a win like that!! We always knew Jose would get someone with that kick, and it happened to be last night. With such a highlight reel ending to the fight, several media outlets took notice. A win like this will help to not only grow Jose's fight status, but bring recognition to Team Ravenous, and Western Mass MMA. Check out this article from Sherdog
