Team Ravenous bantam-weight amateur fighter Jacob "The Mule" Smith got off to a brilliant start to his young MMA career last night at the Hippodrome in Springfield Ma. Jake made quick work of his opponent Chris "Red" Strout, and registered a TKO ref stoppage, in under 1 minutes time!!!
Jake was confident from the start, and was in great spirits leading up to his fight. As we walked out to the cage, we were met with loud cheers from our faithful Ravenous Fans!!! When I saw Mule's opponent, I knew it was ours. The bell rang, the fighters circled, and Jake threw a low kick. Red seemed not to want any of it, and clinched up for a take down, Mule countered, and dragged Red on to the canvas, and maintained top position. Mule then began to rain down some heavy fists, looking to end the fight. Red weathered a quick storm, and looked to take Mule's leg in a submission attempt. Mule realized quickly, and spun out of any real danger, and moved into the full mount. From here it was all Mule!! He rained down more heavy blows to Red's head, and the referee was forced top stop the fight. The Mule then dazzled the crowd with a sik victory back flip in the middle of the cage! It was amazing to hear our fans along with the rest of the Hippodrome crowd go wild for the Mule and team Ravenous. We look forward to many more fights for Premiere FC!!
This was a good show for Premier FC's first attempt, with decent production quality, and well matched fights. The Hippodrome is a cool place to fight, as some of the balcony seats give an awesome view. Problem is, there aren't alot of those good seat available. The sound is good in there, and the cheers for the Mule were amazing!!!It was also VERY hot, with no a.c. in late July, but that made it easy for the fighters to stay warm ;)
I just want to say how proud I am to coach and train alongside Jake. He's a very eager to learn, easy to teach, hardworking, all around great kid. I see a very bright future for Jake "The Mule" Smith!! Big things to come!!!!
