Premier FC 5 Press Release

180522_166954933355975_100001244072823_399457_7187808_nPremier Fighting Championship, a Western Massachusetts based Mixed Martial Arts league, is bringing Premier FC 5 to the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Mullins Center on Saturday April 9. Premier FC 5 is the company’s fifth official championship event since the league’s formation in 2010.
Over the past five years Mixed Martial Arts has seen a monumental rise in popularity and Premier FC 5 is expected to  draw a large crowd of 5,000+ fans to the Mullins Center. Premier FC 5 will display 18 matches of the region’s best pro and amateur MMA talent from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine and New Hampshire.

Premier Fighting Championship was created by MMA promoter Karyn Wesch, who began sponsoring fighters four years prior with her apparel company Need2Bleed. Since then, she and Premier Fighting Championship Vice President Jason Franklin have been working hard to develop the only Western Massachusetts-based MMA promotion company.
“We were very frustrated with fighters going pro without ever fighting amateur.  When we started Premier Fighting Championship, we felt we needed to give amateurs a home.” said Wesch.  “Our first four events focused only on amateurs.  Now as we enter our fifth championship event we have added pro fighters to the mix.  The Mullins Center is the perfect venue to help Premier Fighting Championship reach new heights as well as give our fighters an opportunity to showcase their talent at a big event.”
Global Spectrum, managers of the Mullins Center boasted their excitement to host the event. “We are thrilled to finally bring Mixed Martial Arts to the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus and surrounding community."  says Global Spectrum’s J.R. Westveer, Interim General Manager for the Mullins Center.  “Premier Fighting Championship has built a stable following in New England and we’re excited to host their fifth championship event.”
Tickets range from $27 -$37 and go on sale to the general public on Saturday March 5 at 10am.  Tickets can be purchased at the Mullins Center Box Office, on ticketmaster.com, or over the phone at 800.745.3000.
