NEF Fight Night V 11/17/2012 Review

[Keep checking back here as we plug in fight photos!]

We made our 3.5 hour trek up to Maine in record time.  Some fights are off the card but we will keep you posted on that later.  SuckerPunch Athletics, Kill Their Will, Occupy the Cage and maybe more.  For the media section, we got Old School and Nader in the house!!  I gotta give a shoutout to the time keeper Matt Douglas!  We grabbed our chicken tenders and fries right way before the rush gets here. Alana is the NEF ring girl for the evening and Kevin the Ref and Jimmy Bickford are the refs.  John Vena is our host for the night.  I estimate the crowd to around 2300 or so.  All of the hard work done by Nick DiSalvo, Matt Peterson and Pete Czymbor are complete and now its time to watch the fights.  Not sure if The Colisee was trying to save money by not turning on the lights pre show or what LOL. As you can see from the fights it was a great night of action for NEF's fifth installment.  The crowd wasn't quite up to the par of 3000.  My thoughts are maybe because there was a UFC that night or perhaps because they needed some bigger names on the card??  I don't know but I do know that many missed a spectacular night of fights.  Ray Woods was All Business once again and made an epic pro debut.  Ortolani got his first career submission victory.  We saw Nate Charles's brutal KO in just 25 seconds.  Dez Green continued his undefeated streak and improved to 6-0 with a close decision over Brandon Fleming.  I could be mistaken but I think Dez has fought 9 times this year and he still has one more left!!  Unbelievable!!  Paul Gorman was all over the very tough Adam Toussaint and became the Maine 135lb Champion!  Gorman is back!  Then in the main event Ryan Sanders and Jarod Lawton fought their asses off.  I gave Jarod the rounds because he was getting the takedowns.  Ryan threw up several submissions and somehow Jarod got out of them all!!  Then within just seconds of the final round Jarod gets a nasty knee bar in and Ryan screams in pain within just 2 seconds left!!  I had him behind in the rounds but I have been wrong from time to time and he very well could have won the decision because the rounds were close.  What a crazy night!  NEF is back for their Fight Night VI on February 2nd.  They said they announced the fights but I must have missed it that evening and I know I wasn't the only one who missed it.  With that said Nick DiSalvo told me they have Jesse Peterson vs. Greg Rebello and Kody Nordby vs. Ernesto Ornelas!  I have one request for you NEF, let's see Marcus Davis or Gil De Freitas fight for next year!! I am excited to see Kody Nordby invade Maine and fight once again.  You have been away for too long Kody!!  We will be posting all of our photos on our fanpage within the week.  That includes The Artist's and Warchild's photos.  Til next time!
