CES MMA 11/15/2013 Teaser

CES is back for another installment of local mma this Friday November 15th.  This one is going to be at Foxwoods Resort Casino.  They bring us a total of 11 fights in which 7 of them are professional fights.  This is going to be a special night for CES fans because they don't get to see CES do many amateur fight.  I like this method for CES because it helps them build up some future stars for their promotion.  This is the first time back to Foxwoods since 2010 and they plan to make it a memorable one.  This one features some big names on it in New England which should make for a solid night of fights.  Tickets are still available at the door and also by visiting here. Let me break down the card for you.

Am 170 Romulado de Freitas ( 0-0 Dragon's Lair ) vs. Ryan Pompeii (Tri-Force 0-0)

For the first amateur fight of the evening Romulado de Freitas takes on Ryan Pompeii at 170lbs.  Romulado is making his amateur debut and is from Dragon's Lair.  Ryan is from Triforce and is also making his amateur debut.  Two great schools going head to head is a great way to start off the night.

Am 170 Claudio Rene (1-0 Brazilian Martial Arts Center )vs. Jose Quinones (3-1 NE Combat)

Then Claudio Rene will be fighting Jose Quinones at 170lbs.  Claudio is from Brazilian Martial Arts Center and has a 1-0 record.  He won a tko stoppage to strikes at a previous Combat Zone back in 2009 against  Dan Lepore.  He will be looking to make his return back to the cage in a big way.  Jose is from NE Combat and has a 3-1 record.  He lost a submission to Dan Phelps and then won a split decision against Barry Lisbon.  He won two more times and is looking to bring home the W once again.  This is going to be a good battle and I feel it is going to be settled on the ground.

Am 135 Mike Piacentini (0-1 Coondog MMA) vs. DaShawn Robinson (1-1 Calendrelli MMA)

Mike Piacentini squares off against DaShawn Robinson at 135lbs.  Mike is from Coondog MMA and has an 0-1 record.  He lost via ref stoppage to strikes to Shaun Gilday at the previous Premier FC.  He will be hungry for his first taste of amateur victory.  DaShawn is from Calendrelli MMA and has a 1-1 record.  DaShawn's last fight he fought against Mario Dias and won with a submission in round 1.  Again, like the fight above I feel this one is going to be taken to the ground.

Am 155 Kyle Bochniak (Broadway BJJ 4-1) vs. Brian Allard (Clinch MMA 2-2)

For the last amateur fight of the evening Kyle Bochniak takes on Brian Allard at 170lbs.  Kyle is from Broadway BJJ and has a 4-1 record.  He has two submission, a decision and a ref stoppage victory so far in his career.  His only loss came against John Santos and that was a by decision.  Brian is from Clinch MMA and has a 2-2 record.  Brian won one of his fights by leglock and I wasn't able to find the other win.  Both of his losses came by decision.  This should be a good battle and I feel it will come down to a decision.

Pro 145 James Murrin (Broadway BJJ Pro Debut) vs. Douglas Monteiro (Pro Debut Dragons Lair)

For the first pro fight of the evening James Murrin takes on Douglas Monteiro at 145lbs.  James is from Broadway BJJ and will be making his pro debut.  Douglas is from Dragon's Lair and will also be making his pro debut.  James won most of his amateur fights by decision and is very well versed on the ground.  Douglas is also very good on the ground and this is going to be a solid ground battle.  Least that is my prediction :)

Pro 125 Dan Cormier (Triforce 1-3) vs. Marvin Maldonado (Bruno Tostes Pro Debut)

Next up is the fight between Dan Cormier and Marvin Maldonado at 125lbs.  Dan is from Triforce MMA and has a 1-3 record.  He has lost a decision and two submissions against very tough fighters.  His sole pro win came against Mike Deslosreyes in which he won a decision.  He is ready and looking to give Marvin a rude awakening for his pro debut.  Not if Marvin has anything to say about it!  Marvin is from Bruno Tostes and will be making his pro debut.  Marvin fought many fights for Premier FC and includes a win over Jeremy Reipold.  He had the Premier FC 135lb belt and 125lb belt before turning pro.  He is very well versed on the ground and has the stamina to go the distance.  This is going to be another tough battle for him as Dan has some excellent striking for the 125lb division.  Marvin will probably want to take this fight to the ground and try to get a submission victory.  This fight could definitely be fight of the night!

Pro 205 Willie Brown Jr (MSDC 1-0) vs. Chazz Dowell (Pro Debut)

Then Willie Brown Jr takes on Chazz Dowell at 205lbs.  Willie is from Modern Self Defense Boston and has a 1-0 record.  He won his first pro fight by submission late in Round 1 for a previous CES show.  He looked very good on the ground.  Chazz is making his pro debut and he struggled his amateur career from what I found online.  He lost two by submission and one by decision.  He won one of his fights by submission.  I give in this fight the slight edge to Willie Brown and I see him winning this one early with a submission.

Pro 135 Blair Tugman (Team Tugman 5-3) vs. Eugene Barrett (3-6)

At 135lbs Blair Tugman squares off against Eugene Barrett.  Blair is from Team Tugman and has a 5-3 record.  He has 3 submission and two decision victories in his pro career.  CES fans will remember him in his last fight in which he lost a unanimous decision to Andre Soukhamthath.  Eugene is from Ohio and comes into this fight with a 3-6 record.  I found online that he has one submission and one decision victory.  He lost all 6 of his losses by submission in which 4 of them were in Rd 1.  I give in this fight the slight edge to Blair and I see him winning this one by submission.

Pro hvy Josh Diekmann (Triforce 13-5) vs. Chris Guillen (13-15)

In a heavyweight battle Josh Diekmann takes on Chris Guillen.  Josh is fresh of a Bellator victory against Parker Porter and has a 13-5 record.  He trains out of Triforce MMA.  He has 9 KO/TKO and 4 submission victories in his pro career.  He will be looking to continue his winning ways and he will be looking for the knockout once again so look out folks!  Chris comes into this fight with a 13-15 record.  Chris beat Josh back in 2007 and Josh is looking to show the world that he is the better fighter now!  Chris has the majority of his wins by submissions and also has the majority of his losses by submission.  In this fight I give the edge to Josh and I feel he will win by tko stoppage in Rd 2.

Pro 185 Tom Egan (7-3 Team Egan) vs. Harley Beekman (Bombsquad 5-2)

Then Tom Egan takes on Harley Beekman at 185lbs.  Now this is the best fight on the card.  Tom is from Team Egan and has a 7-3 record.  Out of his 7 victories he has 6 by ko/tko.  I have seen his last two fights and he has some of the best striking in the 185lb division.  Harley is from Bombsquad out of New York and has a 5-2 record.  Four of his wins came by ko/tko and Harley fights tough fights every time.  This fight has all the makings for a fight of the night and I expect this one to be a stand up war.  This one is too close and I feel dead even on paper.  It may just come down to who gets caught and goes down.

Pro 170 Chuck O'Neil (Mass BJJ 11-6) vs. Chris Woodall (Wild Card 12-4)

For the main event Chuck O'Neil faces Chris Woodall at 170lbs.  Chuck is from Mass BJJ and former Ultimate Fighter contestant.  He has a 11-6 record and has 3 ko/tko, 5 sub and 3 decision victories.  His last fight he got tko'd by punches to Gil De Freitas and he is looking to bounce back in a big way.  Chris's team is Wildcard and he has a 12-4 record.  I have only seen one fight by him and John Howard ko'd him pretty easily.  I don't see this one going to well for Chris in this one either.  I give the edge to Chuck and I see him winning this one in Round 1 by tko stoppage to strikes.

That wraps up this latest teaser.  After two teasers this week I am ready to relax my fingers LOL.  With two shows happening this night The Doctor has stepped in and will be guest writer for this review.  I will be at Warrior Nation and we will have live updates from CES so no worries fight fans.  Thanks to CES for keeping us up to date with their fight cards.  This fight doesn't seem as strong as the usual CES card but I am sure with their last show in December they will be planning to close out the year in a huge way.  Good luck to all the fighters on this card and give 'em hell!
