BOUTIN AND SAINTVIL ADDED TO ALREADY-STACKED FIGHT CARD

[NEF Press Release]

Lewiston, Maine (June 26, 2014) – New England Fights Mixed Martial Arts (NEF MMA), the Northeast’s premier mixed martial arts promotion, today announced the addition of an amateur catchweight bout to the company's upcoming "NEF XIV" event.  The fight will feature Crowsneck Boutin (5-6) squaring off with Ramon Saintvil (2-1) at a weight of 200-pounds.  "NEF XIV" is scheduled to take place at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine on September 6, 2014 with a bell time of 7:00 pm.

Boutin  came to the sport in mid-2012 as a street fighter.  With no formal martial arts training, Crowsneck initially relied on brawling tactics he had developed from years of throwing down with other tough guys in the back alleys, pubs and bars of Maine.  Boutin soon developed a friendship with top-middleweight Buck "Knuckles" Pineau (7-3) and began training with Pineau at the Choi Institute in Portland, Maine under striking coach Jon Pinette.  Fans and NEF MMA personnel quickly noticed a marked improvement in Boutin's skills.  Over time, Crowsneck has developed into one of the most formidable athletes drifting between the 170-pound welterweight and 205-pound light heavyweight divisions.

"Him and I'll be sparking off some fireworks at each other, no doubt," said Boutin of his upcoming bout with Saintvil.  "Ramon's a tough bugger with power in his hands that I'll have to respect. The fans deserve more than their money's worth because they bring that electricity every single show.  I'm very grateful and excited for this opportunity."

Ramon Saintvil is no stranger to the NEF MMA cage, having competed for the promotion in all three of his previous MMA fights.  Training out of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) in Auburn, ME, Saintvil had a highlight-reel knockout of Mike Secord (0-1) in May 2013.  He followed that win with a second-round technical knockout of Jacob Cameron (0-3) just weeks later at "NEF Nations Collide: Canadian Invasion."  Those victories should come as no surprise to those who know of Saintvil's impressive amateur boxing background.

"Ramon is a man of few words," said CMBJJ coach Jesse Erickson (3-2) when reached for comment.  "When I asked him what he thought about fighting Crowsneck he simply said, 'Let's do it.' He has been back at the gym working hard, and I can't wait to see him and Crowsneck throw down in September."

"For those who like to watch the bigger guys stand-and-bang, this is another fight to look forward to at 'NEF XIV,' said NEF MMA co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson.  "If their previous fights are any indicator, someone is going to hit the mat hard in this one.  I'm personally excited to watch this one!"

NEF MMA's next event, “NEF XIV,” is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine with a bell time of 7:00 pm.  In the main event of the evening, Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia (31-9) returns to Maine to face fellow UFC veteran Christian Morecraft (8-3) for the Super-Heavyweight Title.  Featherweight Champion Ray "All Business" Wood (4-0) returns from injury after a year of recovery against Brazil's Gabriel Baino (6-1).  Plus, Bruce "Pretty Boy" Boyington (6-7) and Jesse "The Viking" Erickson (3-2) will meet for the Lightweight Title, and John "First Class" Raio (2-5) competes in his final fight.  Tickets for "NEF XIV" start at just $25 and are on sale now at www.TheColisee.com or by calling The Colisee box office at 207.783.2009 x 525.  For more information on the event and fight card updates, please visit the promotion’s website at www.NewEnglandFights.com.
