WRESTLERS HEADLINE AMATEUR PORTION OF NEF XV CARD

[NEF Press Release]

Lewiston, Maine (October 15, 2014) – New England Fights (NEF), America's number-one regional fight promotion, today announced the addition of an amateur catchweight bout to the company's fifteenth mixed martial arts (MMA) event, "NEF XV."  The bout will feature Caleb Hall (4-1) and "Dangerous" Dom "Hands of Stone" Cofone (5-4) meeting at a weight of 150-pounds.  The bout will be the main event of the amateur portion of the fight card scheduled for November 15, 2014 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine.

"This is a fight we've wanted to make for a while now," stated NEF co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson.  "We had originally planned on other opponents for both guys.  We lost both of their respective opponents around the same time, and it just made sense to try to put them together.  What a fight this is going to be!"

Caleb Hall won two Maine State Wrestling championships during his time at Dirigo High School in Dixfield, Maine.  After graduation, Hall wrestled for Plymouth State University before transferring to the University of Southern Maine where he continues his exploits on the wrestling mats.  Hall, who currently trains out of the Choi Institute in Portland, Maine, got off to a 3-0 start to his amateur MMA career.  After dropping his first bout to Aaron Lacey (4-1) at "NEF XI" last fall, Hall rebounded at "NEF XIV" last month scoring a second-round submission over Phil Exner (0-2).  Hall is confident that his wrestling is superior to Cofone's, and that he will pick up his second win in a row on November 15.

"Dom's a great fighter, but he doesn't match up well with me at all," said Hall when reached for comment.  "I'm the better wrestler and I'm going to drag him into the deep waters and see if he can swim."

Dom Cofone's accomplishments in the sport of wrestling are second-to-none.  A native of Westbrook, Maine, Cofone won a Class A State Championship for Westbrook High School in 2001.  Over the course of four years at the school, Cofone put together an impressive record of 117-28.  He currently trains out of Balanced Ground MMA.  Cofone won via second-round submission over Corey Hinkley (2-3) at "NEF XIV" last month.  He predicts that his own wrestling ability and Caleb Hall's may very well cancel each other out, and the fight on November 15 could come down to which athlete has the better skills in other areas of MMA.

"I think this is a great match-up," declared Cofone.  "Caleb has always put on great shows inside of the NEF cage and this should definitely be a fight-of-the-night candidate.  I think our pure wrestling is pretty comparable, but the cage changes everything.  This could be a case where the usual wrestling advantage we both enjoy is canceled out and whoever put in the most work on their stand-up and Jits will be the victor.  I don't know him personally, but I have a lot of respect for what he's accomplished so far and for all the bad ass dudes he trains with.  I can't wait to get it on with another hard-nosed, hard hitting wrestler. This is one that no fight fan will want to miss!"

NEF's next mixed martial arts event, "NEF XV" takes place Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine.  In the main event of the evening, Bruce "Pretty Boy" Boyington (8-7) will defend the NEF Lightweight Championship against Jesse "The Viking" Erickson (3-3) in a rematch from "NEF XIV."  Tickets start at just $25 and are on sale now at www.TheColisee.com or by calling the Colisee box office at 207.783.2009 x 525.  For more information on the event and fight card updates, please visit the promotion’s website at www.NewEnglandFights.com.
