CAGE TITANS XXV TEASER 8/29/15

Cage Titans returns to Plymouth Memorial Hall this Saturday August 29th for their 25th event.  Mr. Polvere and company have once again put together a stellar card that will be sure to get the crowd on their feet.  There are 3 amateur title fights and 4 pro that will make up the main card.  Not to mention there are also 11 amateur fights making up the undercard.  Get your tickets early before they sell out.  First fight starts around 7:05pm and doors open at 6:00PM.  There are too many good fights to mention so we will as always break down every one for you.  Please follow along with me.

170lb AM Scott Sullivan (1-1, MAXX) vs Bobby Gasdia (2-0, SSSF)

At 170 lbs Scott Sullivan will face off against Bobby Gasdia.  Sullivan trains with Team Maxx and comes into this fight with a 1-1 record.   Scott has 1 win by submission and has 1 loss by submission.  His opponent is Bobby Gasdia and he trains with SSSF.  He comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with 1 win by sub and 1 win by split decision.  Both fighters are close in record and have submission victories so they are comfortable on the ground.

145lb AM Max Barrett (5-4-1, GFMMA) vs David Espino (3-2, Trifecta)

Next up is Max Barrett against David Espino at 145lbs.  Barrett was supposed to have a grudge match against Ryan Cushing but Cushing had to drop off due to injury.  Luckily Espino has stepped in to fill the void.  Barrett trains with GFMMA and comes into this fight with a 5-4-1 record.  Barrett has 4 wins by ko/tko and 1 win by decision so far in his amateur career.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko, 3 by sub and of course the 1 draw against Arslan Octiyev.  He is always an exciting fighter to watch and always brings the intensity.  His opponent is David Espino who trains with team Trifecta.  He comes into this fight with a 3-2 record 2 wins by ko/tko and 1 by sub.  For his 2 losses, he lost 1 by decision and 1 by submission.  I feel this fight is going to be a great stand up battle.

185lb AM Jon Ciampa (0-0, Connors MMA) vs Kris Silck (0-0, Hard Knocks)

Jon Ciampa will take on Kris Silck at 185 lbs.  Ciampa trains with Connor's MMA and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Kris Silck and he trains with Hard Knocks MMA.  He will also be making his amateur debut.  Two new fighters which should make for another exciting match up for the night.

125lb AM Jose Lugo (1-0, RAC) vs Miguel Trinadad (1-0, TriForce)

At 125 lbs Jose Lugo will face off against Miguel Trinadad.  Lugo trains with Rivera Athletic Center and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  He has 1 win by decision in an awesome first battle at the last Cage Titans against Yiannis Savvidis.  His opponent is Miguel Trinadad who trains with Triforce MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 1-0 record with 1 win by submission against Jessie Pires.  I feel this fight is going to be a nice fast paced back and forth battle.

155lb AM Harry Beard (0-0, Connors MMA) vs Chris Mehu (2-1, Gate City MMA)

At 155 lbs Harry Beard takes on Chris Mehu.  Harry trains with Connor's MMA and will be making his amateur debut.  I checked with Tyler King and he confirms that Harry Beard is a real person and does have a beard.  However, it is not better than King's beard.  Being from Connor's MMA, I know he will be ready for a battle.  His opponent is Chris Mehu and he trains out of Gate City MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 2-1 record with 1 win by ko/tko and 1 win by decision.  His sole loss was by submission to Bobby Gasdia.  Harry Beard is giving up a 3 fight advantage to Mehu but I still feel this is going to be a close battle.

Hvy AM Gravin Guillen (2-3, Indy) vs Jay Phillips (0-0, SSSF)

In a heavyweight showdown Gravin Guillen challenges Jay Phillips in the cage.  Guillen is an independent fighter and he comes into this fight with a 2-3 record.  For his wins, he has 1 by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  For his losses, he lost 2 by sub and 1 by decision.  Guillen currently has a 2 fight losing streak so he is gonna bring it this Saturday.  His opponent is Jay Phillips from South Shore Sport Fighting and he will be making his amateur debut.  SSSF fighters always come prepared so this should be another solid match for Cage Titans.

125lb AM Mike Brown (3-4, Boston Combat) vs Ryan Kane (3-2, GFMMA)

At 125 lbs Mike Brown will take on Ryan Kane in a 125 battle.   Brown comes into this fight with 3-4 and trains with Boston Combat.  For his wins, he has 2 wins by submission and 1 by decision.  He lost 3 fights by submission and 1 by ko/tko to strikes.  In his last battle against Max Barrett, Brown felt robbed with an early stoppage and he is going to be channeling that energy for this fight.  His opponent is Ryan Kane and he trains with GFMMA.  Kane comes into this fight with a 3-2 record 1 win by ko/tko, 1 sub and 1 decision win so you can see he is very well rounded.  For his losses, he lost 2 by decision and has never been finished.  This is going to be a good stand up battle and I expect to see some good kicks!

145lb AM Arslan Otciyev (2-1-1, KDojo) vs Billy Keenan (5-2, Redline)

At 145lbs Arslan Octciyev takes on Billy Keenan.  Arslan trains out of KDojo in CT and comes into this fight with a 2-1-1 record.  He has both of his wins by way of submission and his only loss was a decision to Matt Tullos.  His opponent is Billy Keenan and he trains with Team Redline.  He comes into this fight with a 5-2 record with 2 wins by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 2 by decision.  This is going to be an awesome battle and I think it is going to be back and forth.

Hvy AM Phil Kelly (2-1, Redline) vs Brendan Battles (0-0, GFMMA)

In a heavyweight match up Phil Kelly challenges Brendan Battles.  Kelly trains with Redline MMA and comes into this fight with a 2-1 record.  He has 2 wins by decision and one loss by decision.  His opponent is Brendan Battles and he trains with GFMMA.  He will be making his long awaited ammy debut.  I say this, because at the last Cage Titans he was supposed to fight and at day of fight his opponent had a panic attack and pulled out of the fight!  This fight is going to be an absolute war and I don't see it going to a decision with these two strong oxes in there.

Hvy AM Jerrie Hall (0-0, Team Link NH) vs Jeff Soivilien (2-2, SSSF)

In another heavy weight match up Jerri Hall will face off against Jeff Soivilien.  Hall trains with Team Link NH and he will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Jeff Soivilien and he comes into this fight with a 2-2 record.  Hailing out of Team SSSF, he has both of his wins by ko/tko.  He lost one fight by submission and one fight by decision.  Normally I would say that Jeff has the experience which would be a huge factor but Hall being out of Team Link NH I know he will be ready for anything.  Once again, another killer match up for Cage Titans.

170lb AM Tommy Arrington (0-0, Speed School) vs Steve Young (1-0, FightZone)

Next up is at 170 lbs Tommy Arrington takes on Steve Young.  Arrington trains out of Speed School MMA and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Steve Young and he trains with FightZone and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  He won his only fight against Myles Reid by submission early in Round 1 and would just love another quick finish.  I think this one will last more than a minute this time Steve and I see this one being a ground battle.

155 AM Title Don Shainis (4-0 Redline/Victory) vs. Devin Carrier (3-2 Lauzon MMA)

For the 155 lb amateur title Don Shainis defends his title against the challenger Devin Carrier.  Shainis trains with Victory and Redline MMA and comes into this fight unbeaten with a 4-0 record.  He has 2 wins by ko/tko and 2 by submission. Cage Titans will remember his last battle against Alex Ortiz in which he won by ko/tko to strikes in Rd 4 and claimed the 155 lb vacant title for himself.  His opponent is Devin Carrier who trains with Lauzon MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 3-2 record with 1 win by ko/tko, 1 sub and 1 by decision.  For his two losses, he lost 1 by submission and 1 by decision.  He is no stranger to the Cage Titans cage as this will be his sixth appearance.  This is going to be a solid battle and from what I have seen Shainis likes to use his wrestling and takedown his opponents to grind out the wins.  Carrier, I would suspect would want to keep this standing and use his striking to wear down the beast that is Shainis.

115 AM Title Sarah Click (4-2 GFMMA) vs. Devon Estes (2-1 Martinez BJJ)

In the second amateur title fight of the night Sarah Click takes on Devon Estes for the first ever 115 Amateur female belt.  Sarah Click trains with GFMMA and comes into this fight with a 4-2 record.  She has 2 wins by ko/tko and 2 wins by decision.  For her two losses she has 1 loss by DQ and 1 by decision to Sarah Payant.  Her opponent is Devon Estes and she comes into this fight with a 2-1 record.  She trains with Martinez BJJ out of PA and is engaged to the main event fighter Steve McCabe.  Both of her wins came by way of armbar and her sole loss was by ko/tko to strikes.  This fight has fight of the night all over it.  Click will want to keep this fight standing and use her insane kicks to take out Estes.  Devon will want to get this fight to the ground and do what no other woman was able to do and that is finish Click.  Keep in mind this is a 5 round fight as this is a title fight!

145 AM Title Fight Jeff Perez ( 6-2 SBG East) vs. Kris Moutinho (5-2 Rivera Athletics)

In the last title fight of the night Jeff Perez defends his title against the title-stealer Kris Moutinho.  Perez trains with SBG East and comes into this fight with a 6-2 record with 4 wins by ko/tko, 1 sub and 1 by decision.  This will be his second title defense and it is going to be a tough battle for both fighters.  Perez's only two losses came by way of a decision so he has yet to be finished in his mma career.  The challenger Moutinho trains with Rivera Athletics and comes into this fight with a 5-2 record.  Kris has 2 wins by ko/tko, 2 by sub and 1 decision victory.  He was at one point the 125 lb Cage Titans champ and then became the 135 Cage Titans Champ.  Now he is going after the 145 lb Champ belt.  His only two losses were 1 by sub to Manny Bermudez and decision to Marques Brewster.  This is a tough fight for Kris going up two weight classes but he is ready for the challenge.  Perez will want to keep it standing and use his fists of steel to wear down Kris.  Kris will do what he does best and try to get the takedowns and dominate on the ground.

170 PRO Myles Reid (0-0 Dungeon MMA) vs. Carlos Correia ( 0-0 DCNU)

The first pro fight of the night is between Myles Reid and Carlos Correia at 170 lbs.  Reid trains out of Dungeon MMA and he will be making his pro debut.  As an amateur Reid struggled with a 1-7 record 6 out of the 7 losses were lost in the first round.  He always comes in tip top shape and now as a pro his record is clean as he goes into this battle.  His opponent is Carlos Correia and he trains out of DCNU.  When he is not training and walking dogs he is training in the gym getting ready for wars in the cage.  He is also making his pro debut and as an amateur had a 3-1 record with  1 sub and 2 decision victories.  I see this one as a tough fight for Reid as I don't think he will be able to handle the takedowns of Carlos but we will find out this Saturday!

170 PRO Louis Torres (1-3 Iron House BJJ)  vs.  Bobby Flynn (3-3 ProElite)

Next up is another 170 lb fight between Louis Torres and Bobby Flynn.  Torres trains with Iron House BJJ and comes into this fight with a 1-3 record.  I was not able to find his win on record but he lost all 3 of his losses by ko/tko to strikes.  He is a great striker and loves to stand and give the fans a war.  His opponent is Bobby Flynn and he comes into this fight with a 3-3 record.  He has 3 wins by submission and 2 losses by submission and 1 by ko/tko to strikes.  He trains out of Pro Elite with Scott Rehm and is always ready for a battle.  I see this fight being a good stand up battle and if Flynn gets in trouble he will take this one to the ground but its gonna be fun to watch for sure.

185 PRO Ralph Johnson (FAF 9-14) vs. Cheyenne Vazquez (3-0 Sityodtong)

Ralph Johnson squares off against Cheyenne Vazquez at 185 lbs.   Johnson trains with FAF and comes into this fight with a 9-14 record.  All 9 of his wins came by ko/tko to strikes and is deadly on his feet.  The majority of Ralph's losses were by submission.  His opponent is Cheyenne Vazquez and he trains with Sityodtong.  He comes into this fight with a 3-0 record with 2 wins by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  Both of these fighters love to strike and I think this one is going to be a big stand up war.  It has fight of the night written all over it.

145 PRO Steve McCabe (7-16 Martinez BJJ) vs. Peter Barrett (3-0 GFMMA)

In the main event Steve McCabe takes on Peter Barrett at 145 lbs.  McCabe trains with Martinez BJJ and comes into this fight with a 7-16 record.  Out of his 5 wins he has 5 by ko/tko and 2 by submission.  For his losses they were mostly by ko/tko and submission.  His opponent is Peter Barrett and he trains with GFMMA.  Peter comes into this fight with a 3-0 record with all 3 of his wins pro by ko/tko to strikes.  Barrett is giving up a lot of fight experience to Steve but I know he will be ready for anything.  There is a reason this one is main event and that is cause it is going to an exciting battle!

There you have the complete breakdown of the entire night of fights that Cage Titans will be bringing to us this Saturday at Plymouth Memorial.  Special thanks to Mike Polvere and his team for always keeping their website up to date with the latest and greatest fight card so we all can share with you all.  Warchild and I will be making the trip to cover the show for you all.  I plan on doing the live play by play as long as I have no technical difficulties.  Hope you all enjoyed this write up and if you did please share!
