COMBAT ZONE 58 5/13/2016 TEASER

Combat Zone returns this Friday with their 58th show to date with another action packed card.  It is a hybrid show of kickboxing and mixed martial arts which is sure to please what ever your favorite art of fighting may be.  There is a total of 10 fights on the night in which 7 of them are mixed martial arts including 2 of them being title fights.  Also on the card are 3 kickboxing matches and one of them will be a professional battle between Ralph Johnson and Ray Shawdee which should be a fun one to watch.  The doors will be opening at 5:30 and the first fight is set kick off at 7:00pm.  If you are running earlier that day I recommend visiting the Rockingham Mall right across the street and get some of your shopping done before the fights.  This will be the first show of this weekend's double header of fights with Combat Zone being on Friday and NEF invading the cape on Saturday.  Isn't it great to live in New England??  Let me break down the fight card in its entirety but keep in mind this might not be the final order as fights are always subject to change as the event gets close.  I will only be breaking down the mma portion of the card but you can see the kickboxing match up below.  Please follow along...

185 AM KICK Colby Hakkila (0-0) Choi's vs. Kristian Lombari (0-0) Team Fury
150 AM KICK Corey Gilman (0-0) Choi's vs. Ivan Sanchez (0-0) NETT
130 AM KICK Alex Walker (0-1) Team Kaze vs. Crystal Demers (0-0) Team Fury

155 AM MMA Alex Johnson (2-2) Independent vs. Brian Cosco (2-4) Ironhouse/SYT

In the first amateur mma battle of the night Alex Johnson takes on Brian Cosco at 155 lbs.  Johnson is an independent fighter who comes into this fight with a 2-2 record with 1 win by submission and 1 by split decision.  For his 2 losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko and 1 by submission.  This will be his first time fighting in the Combat Zone cage so let's give him a warm welcome.  His opponent is Brian Cosco and he trains with Ironhouse/Sityodtong.  He comes into this fight with a 2-4 record with both wins by way of submission.  For his losses, he lost 2 by submission and 2 by decision.  As you can see they are both pretty even on paper so it should make for a good battle.

170 AM MMA Felipe Neto (0-0) CNBJJ vs. George Demers (0-1) Team Fury

The next fight is between Felipe Neto and George Demers at 170 lbs amateur.  Neto trains with CNBJJ and will be stepping into the cage for the very first time.  Demers trains with Team Fury and comes into this fight with an 0-1 record.  He lost his first fight by ko/tko to strikes to Jordan Faulkner right in the Combat Zone cage at CZ 55.  Both fighters are hungry for their first taste of victory and one of them will be the sole victor that night.  Who will it be?

145 AM MMA Alex Sinprasith (6-12) Crowsnest vs. Brandon Marotte (1-1) PMA

Then they have Alex Sinprasith against Brandon Marotte at 145 lbs.  Alex trains with Crowsnest MMA and comes into this fight with a 6-12 record.  In the win column he has 1 by ko/tko, 3 by submission, 1 decision and 1 by DQ.  For his losses, he lost them all across the board and this will be his second time stepping into the combat zone cage.  His opponent is Brandon Marotte and he trains with PMA.  He comes into this fight with a 1-1 record with his sole win by ko/tko.  His only loss came by way of submisison against Fernando Lopez.  Alex has the more experience in the cage but I have seen Marotte and he can handle the experience no problem.  I see this one going the distance in a close battle.

155 AM MMA Taylor Costantino (2-1) Team Irish vs. Gerald Meuse (3-1) Sityodtong

Next battle is between Taylor Costantino and Gerald Meuse at 155 lbs.  Taylor trains with Team Irish and comes into this fight with a 2-1 record.  He just won his last fight against Frank Johanson at the last NEF by ko/tko.  He is looking to continue that streak this Friday.  His opponent is Gerald Meuse and he trains with Sityodtong.  He comes into this fight with a 3-1 record with 1 ko/tko and 1 submission.  He lost his last bout by decision against John McAndrews in an awesome fight.  I am hoping in this fight they bring it and I see it being a stand up battle.

175 PRO MMA Connor Barry (1-0) FAF vs. Wayne Harnois (3-15) Brute Force MMA

This fight was literally just saved late Wednesday night as Connor Barry found himself opponentless and thankfully Wayne Harnois has stepped up on just a few days notice!  Barry trains with FAF gym and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  He won his first pro fight by decision against against Pete San Antonio in a bloody war at a previous Combat Zone event.  His opponent is Wayne Harnois and he trains with Brute Force MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 3-15 record with all 3 wins by way of submision.  For his losses, he lost many by submission and ko/tko to strikes.  Barry should win this one but much respect to Wayne for stepping up to the plate last minute to save the fight for Combat Zone.

185 AM MMA TITLE Jordan Faulkner (2-0) Spero's vs. John McAndrews (4-1) Gate City

At 185 lbs Jordan Faulkner will take on John McAndrews for the Combat Zone amateur title.  Faulkner trains with Spero's and comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with both wins by ko/tko.  His opponent is John McAndrews and he trains with Gate City.  He comes into this fight with a 4-1 record with 2 wins by ko/tko, 1 sub and 1 by decision.  His only loss came by a decision to Sean Evans at a previous CFX show.  This fight is going to be an awesome as these two behemoths collide.  Both of them are grinders and I am excited to see how Jordan does in his toughest fight to date and how he handles if the fight goes deep in the rounds.  I see this one being a takedown and ground battle.

155 AM MMA TITLE  David Brown (2-0) LRVT vs. Shawn Melanson (3-0) Gate City/NETT

In the main event David Brown will be taking on Shawn Melanson for the 155 lb Amateur title.  Brown trains with Lake Vale Region Tudo and he comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with both wins by submission.  His opponent is Shawn Melanson and he trains with Gate City/NETT.  He comes into this fight with a record of 3-0 with all 3 wins by submission.  Both fighters are very alike as you can see as both are undefeated and have all of their wins by way of submission.  I think it is safe to say that this fight will most likely be settled on the mat and it should be once again another fight you don't want to miss!
