NEF 23 5/14/2015 TEASER

NEF returns this Saturday May 14th but in a new location.  NEF is set to invade the Hyannis Youth and Community Center in Hyannis Mass for their first venture into Massachusetts and it looks to be a memorable one.  For those who don't know NEF was voted by MassMMA.com as Promotion of the Year and they are looking to branch out their successful promotion up in Maine into Mass.  They have a 9 fight card set with 6 amateur fights with 3 pro fights.  With the exception of 2 pro fights, the idea is simple Maine vs. Massachusetts which should make for an interesting night!   The door will open at 6pm and the first fight is set to kick off at 7pm.  NEF had 3000 people in Maine at their last show and this venue holds about 1000 so it is sure to sell out.  Let me break down the entire fight card for you all.  Keep in mind this probably won't be the exact fight order.

130 AM Razzle Dazzle 4-3 (Juniko) vs Dustin Veinott 4-4 (CMBJJ)

At a catch weight of 130 lbs Ryan Kane will take on Dustin Veinott.  Razzle trains with Juniko and comes into this fight with a 4-3 record.  Ryan has 1 win by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 2 by way of decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 by submission and 2 by decision.  His opponent is Dustin Veinott and he comes into this fight with a 4-4 record.  Dustin trains with CMBJJ and for his wins has 1 win by ko/tko, 2 by sub and 1 by decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko, 1 by submission and 2 by decision.  Both of these young fighters are up and comers in the 125 lb division and are doing all the right things before becoming pro and that is fight the tough fights.  I think this one is going to be a back and forth fight and I see it coming down to a decision.

135 AM Kylie O'Hearn 0-0 (Juniko) vs Angela Young 1-1 (Young's)

Next up is at 135 lbs Kylie O'Hearn will take on Angela Young in the only female bout of the night.  Kylie trains with Juniko and will be making her amateur debut.  She is good friends with Sarah Click and Kaline Medeiros so you know she will be battle ready.  Her opponent is Angela Young and she trains with Young's MMA.  She comes into this fight with a 1-1 record and is fresh off her first amateur win against Hannah Sparrell by decision just 3 weeks ago.  Her one loss came by decision against Rachel Reinheimer.  This female bout is sure to be exciting and I think it is going to another good battle of the night.

160 AM Ed Forlenza 0-0 (Juniko/Sityodtong) vs Frank Johanson 0-1 (CMBJJ)

At a catch weight of 160 lbs Ed Forlenza will square off against Frank Johanson.  Ed trains with Juniko and Sityodtong and he will be making his amateur debut.  Being from those two schools I know he will be very well trained for his debut.  His opponent is Frank Johanson and he trains with CMBJJ in Maine.  He comes into this fight with an 0-1 record with one loss by ko/tko in just 25 seconds against Taylor Constantino.  This is another well matched fight so it should be another solid battle.

160 AM Fabian Miranda 2-0 (Juniko) vs Steve Bang 3-4 (CMBJJ)

Then the next fight is between Fabian Miranda and Steve Bang at a catch weight of 160 lbs.  Miranda trains out of Juniko and comes into this fight with a 2-0 record.  He has 1 win by decision and 1 win by submission.  I believe this will be his first fight in the United States and Steve Bang is looking to give him a nice warm welcome.  He trains with CMBJJ and comes into this fight with a 3-4 record.  In the win column, he has 2 wins by submission and 1 win by decision.  For his losses, he has 2 by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 1 by decision.  This is first fight of 2016 so he will be more than ready to step back in the cage.

190 AM Thomas Lee Davis 1-0 (Juniko) vs Anthony Spires 0-1 (Independent)

At 190 lbs Thomas Lee Davis will be fighting Anthony Spires.  Davis trains with Juniko and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  He won his first fight by ko/tko in an exciting stand up battle against  Dave Sheehan.  He would love another exciting win to add to his resume.  His opponent is Anthony Spires and he is an independent fighter.  He comes into this fight with an 0-1 record with 1 loss by submission in Rd 1 against Victor Irwin.  I feel this fight is going to be a stand up battle and should be a good one for the fans!

205 AM Tracey Schryba 0-0 (Independent) vs Victor Irwin 1-0 (Young's)

At 205 lbs Tracey Schryba will take on Victor Irwin.  Tracey is an independent fighter from Western Mass who has been training martial arts and karate for a long time.  I know he has been wanting to get into the cage for a while and his dream is just days away as he makes his amateur debut for NEF this Friday.  He is facing a tough opponent in Victor Irwin from Young's MMA.  Irwin won his first fight by submission in Rd 1.   Tracey will want to keep this fight standing and work his striking.  Irwin will want to take this fight to the ground and work another submission.

185 PRO Ruben Redman 0-0 (Nytmare) vs Crowsneck Boutin 1-2 (Choi)

At 185 lbs Ruben Redman will be facing Crowsneck Boutin in the first pro fight of the night.  Redman trains with Team Nytmare and will be making his pro debut.  Ruben as an amateur had a record of 1-5  with 1 win by submission to strikes.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 3 by decision.  He should have no problem going the distance if needed in this fight.  I would like to point out that even though he was 1-5 Redman keeps coming forward and is a real exciting fighter to watch.  His opponent is Crowsneck Boutin and he trains with Choi's.  Boutin comes into this fight with a 1-2 record with his sole pro win by decision.  His two losses were by way of submission and Crowsneck is not afraid to fight anyone.  Boutin is much like Ruben and keeps it standing and loves to stand and bang.  I see this one being a fight of the night candidate and being an all out war.

155 PRO Derek Shorey 3-6 (Shatterproof) vs Matt Denning 2-2 (CMBJJ)

The second pro fight is between Derek Shorey and Matt Denning at 155 lbs.  Shorey trains with Team Shatterproof and he comes into this fight with a 3-6 record with 2 KO/TKO and 1 Submission.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko and 5 by submission.  His opponent is Matt Denning and he trains with CMBJJ.  Matt comes into this fight with a 2-2 record with 2 wins by submissions.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko to strikes and 1 by submission.  This is a rematch and Denning won the first one by submission in Round 1.  I think this is a good match up as Derek has lost 4 straight and Denning has lost 2 straight so both fighters are desperate to get a win.  One will be victorious, who will it be?  Find out this Saturday.

265 PRO Brendan Battles 0-0 (Juniko) vs Mike Hansen 4-3 (Berserkers)

In the main event Brendan Battles takes in Mike Hansen in a heavyweight showdown.  Battles trains out of Juniko and will be making his pro debut.  He was undefeated as an amateur with 2-0 record with 2 first round finishes by way of fist.  He is hungry for another win and looking to use some elbows in this fight.  His opponent is Mike Hansen and he trains out of Berserkers MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 4-3 record 1 win by ko/tko and 3 wins by submission.  For his losses, he lost 2 by ko/tko and 1 by submission.  As you can see I highly doubt this fight will be going the distance and man you don't want to miss it!

There you have the complete breakdown of the upcoming New England Fight's 23rd event.  As you can see NEF is poised to break ground in Massachusetts for the first time in an historic night.  Warchild and I plan on making the trip east to cover the show for you all so stay right here as we get you all closer to the cage.
