CAGE TITANS 37 TEASER 1/27/2018

Cage Titans returns this Saturday January 27th to Plymouth Memorial Hall.  This will be their 37th show and the card is stacked with fellow Titan regulars.  There are a total of 17 fights with 10 of them being professional ones.  Also on the night will be two amateur title fights that will sure to please the titans crowd.  The doors will be opening up at 5pm and the first fight is set to start at 6pm.  Tickets will be available at the door and also it will be broadcasted on FloCombat.com for the monthly membership of $30.  I ordered it for one show and it ran pretty smooth on my Apple TV. Also I want to point out that some of the pro fights are mixed in before the main card which I absolutely love! Enough babble and let me break down the fight card in its entirety.

145 AM Chris McDonnell (0-1, SSSF) vs Justin Stevens (0-0, Lakeville MMA)

In the first fight Chris McDonnell will be taking on Justin Stevens at 145 lbs amateur.  Chris trains with SSSF and steps into this fight with an 0-1 record.  He lost his first bout by a decision to Jordan Brown at Cage Titans 33.  His opponent is Justin Stevens and he trains with Lakeville MMA.  He will be making his amateur debut.  This will be a great first fight to kick off the night.

185 AM Josh Jones (2-2, First Class) vs Brian Harrington (2-0, SSSF)

Next up is at 185 lbs Josh Jones will be taking on Brian Harrington.  Jones trains with First Class MMA and will making the trip from Maine to go to war.  He comes into this fight with a 2-2 record with 2 wins by ko/tko to strikes.  For his losses, he lost one by ko/tko to strikes and 1 loss by decision.  His opponent is Brian Harrington and he trains with SSSF.  He comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with both wins by way of first round submission.  Jones has the power to finish and Brian is smooth on the ground.  We will have to wait and see who will have the advantage.

150 AM Stavros Batsinelas (2-1, Redline) vs Antoine Caparotta (4-3, SSSF)

At 150 lbs Stavros Batsinelas will be facing off against Antoine Caparotta.  Stavros trains with Redline and comes into this fight with a 2-1 record.  In the win column, he has 1 win by submission and 1 win by decision.  His one loss came by ko/tko to Zach DiSabatino who will be fighting later in the night.  His opponent is Antoine Caparotta and he trains with SSSF.  He comes into this fight with a 4-3 record with 1 by ko/tko, 2 subs and 1 by decision.  For his losses, he lost 2 by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  I see this one being a real close back and forth battle.

165 AM John Clarke (0-0, BST MMA) vs Ryan Dunn (1-2, Indy)

At 165 lbs John Clarke will be squaring off against Ryan Dunn.  Clarke trains with BST MMA and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Ryan Dunn and he is an independent fighter with a record of 1-2.  He has 1 win by ko/tko and for his losses he has 1 loss by ko/tko and 1 by decision. This will be a good scrap.

125 AM Will Graustuck (2-1, Level Ground) vs Mitch Raposo (2-0, Regiment)

At 125 lbs Will Graustuck will be taking on Mitch Raposo.  Will trains with Level Ground and comes into this fight with a 2-1 record.  In his career, he has 2 wins by submission and 1 loss by submission.  His opponent is Mitch Raposo and he trains with Regiment.  He comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with 2 wins by decision.  This fight has fight of the night all over it as these fighters are both fast paced non stop action.

170 PRO Myles Reid (0-1, Hyannis MMA) vs David Espino (0-2, Team Trifecta)

In the first pro fight Myles Reid will be taking on David Espino at 170 lbs.  Reid trains with Hyannis MMA and he comes into this fight with an 0-1 record with 1 loss by ko/tko.  As an amateur he went 1-7 with 1 win by submission.  His opponent is David Espino and he trains with Team Trifecta.  He comes into this fight with an 0-2 record with 1 loss by ko/tko and 1 loss by decision.  As an amateur he went 3-3.  Once again, another solid match up with record being identical and one fighter will be going home with their first victory.

170 PRO Montoyia Swilling (0-10, God’s Team) vs Zach DiSabatino (1-0, SSSF)

In the last fight of the undercard Montoyia Swilling will be taking on Zach DiSabatino in a pro battle at 170 lbs.  Montoyia comes into this fight with an 0-10 record with losses mostly by ko/tko and submission.  His opponent is Zach DiSabatino and he trains with SSSF.  He comes into this fight with a 1-0 record with 1 win over Myles Reid by ko/tko.  I see Zach winning this one easily with a first round stoppage.

135 AM TITLE Taylor Thompson (1-0 BST MMA) vs. Tiffany McCoy (Santos BJJ 2-1)

For the 135 amateur title Taylor Thompson will be taking on Tiffany McCoy.  Taylor trains with BST MMA and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record with her 1 win by ko/tko.  This will be her second fight and she is looking to take home the title.  She had an opponent drop out and thankfully Tiffany McCoy has stepped up!  Tiffany trains with Santos BJJ and comes into this fight with a 2-1 record.  She has 1 loss by ko/tko and 2 wins by way of decision.  I see this one being a back and forth battle and coming down to a decision.

155 AM TITLE Chris Sniger (3-1 SBG East) vs. Chris O'Brien (3-0 SSSF)

In the next title fight Chris Sniger will be facing off against Chris O'Brien in the 155 lb division.  Sniger trains with SBG East and comes into this fight with a 3-1 record with 2 wins by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  His only loss came by a submission to Quentin Harris in his first fight of his career.  His opponent is Chris O'Brien and he trains out of SSSF.  He comes into this fight with a perfect 3-0 record with 1 win by ko/tko and 2 wins by submission.  I see this fight being an all out war between these two guys.  Sniger has the power to finish the fights and so does O'Brien.  O'Brien has also proven that he can finish it on the ground if it gets there.  Fight of the night potential on this one.

135 PRO Mark Frisk (0-1 Shift MMA) vs. Jay Perrin (4-3 Sityodtong)

At 135 lbs Mark Frisk will be taking on Jay Perrin in a professional bout.  Frisk trains with Shift MMA and comes into this fight with an 0-1 record.  He lost his first fight by submission in Round 1.  His opponent is Jay Perrin and he trains with Sityodtong.  He comes into this fight with a 4-3 record with 2 wins by ko/tko, 1 by submission and 1 by decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 by submission and 2 by split decision.  I see Perrin winning this fight by ko/tko to strikes Round 2.

145 PRO Timothy Wheeler (1-6 New York MMA) vs. Jeff Perez (2-0 SBG East)

Tim Wheeler steps in to take on Jeff Perez at 145 lbs pro.  Wheeler trains with New York MMA and comes into this fight with a 1-6 record with his 1 win by submission and the majority of his losses by submission.  His opponent is Jeff Perez and he trains out of SBG East.  He comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with 1 win by submission and 1 by decision.  I see Perez winning this one by tko to strikes in Round 1.

115 PRO Michael Whaley (2-5 Warrior Warehouse) vs. Dan Cormier (5-8 Triforce)

At 115 lbs Michael Whaley will be squaring off against Dan Cormier.  Whaley trains with Warrior Warehouse and comes into this fight with a 2-5 record. In the win column, he has both wins by ko/tko and for his losses he has 4 by submission and 1 by decision.  His opponent is Dan Cormier and he trains with Triforce.  He comes into this fight with a 5-8 record with 1 by ko/tko and 4 by way of decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko, 3 by submission and 4 by decision.  This should be a stand up battle and I see it coming down to a decision.

160 PRO Keenan Raymond (3-4 Ricardo Calvacanti) vs. Dan Dubuque (4-2 Golden Falcon)

Next up is a catch weight fight at 160 against Keenan Raymond and Dan Dubuque.  Keenan trains with Ricardo Calvacanti and comes into this fight with a 3-4 record.  For his wins, he has 1 by ko/tko, 1 by submission and 1 by decision.  In the loss column, he has 2 by ko/tko and 2 by submission.  His opponent is Dan Dubuque and he trains with Golden Falcon in CT.  He comes into this fight with a 4-2 record with 4 wins by decision.  His two losses came by, you guessed it, a decision!  Dan is a tough fighter who has shown some excellent striking in his previous fights.  I am going to go out on a limb here and say this one is going to come down to a decision!

160 PRO Jay Ellis (25-38 Knockout) vs. Connor Barry (3-2 Redline)

Then at a catch weight of 160 lbs Jay Ellis will be taking on Connor Barry.  Ellis has a crazy record that differs depending on what site you check.  Tapology.com says he has a record of 15-73 with the majority of his wins by submission.  For his losses, he lost them all mostly by ko/tko and submission.  His opponent is Connor Barry and he trains out of Redline.  He comes into this fight with a 3-2 record with 1 win by submission and 2 by decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 by decision and in his last one by DQ.  I have seen both of these fighters fight before and Ellis always starts out strong and then ends up making a mistake and getting caught.  I see Barry weathering the storm and finishing this one with a first round submission.

115 PRO Sheena Brandenburg (0-1 Fuse) vs. Danielle Hindley (1-0 SSSF)

Then at 115 lbs Sheena Brandenburg will be coming to Mass to take on Danielle Hindley.  Sheena trains with Fuse MMA and comes into this fight with an 0-1 record with her one loss by submission in round 1.  She is more than ready for her second pro fight as she has had more than 40 amateur fights.  Her opponent is Danielle Hindley and she trains with SSSF.  She comes into this fight with a 1-0 record with a 15 second submission victory in her pro debut.  In this fight Sheena is going to want to keep this standing and wear down Hindley.  Hindley will want to get this fight to the ground and go to work.

185 PRO TITLE Avery McPhatter (9-9 Shift MMA) vs. Sean Lally (7-2 Juniko)

Then at 185 lbs Avery McPhatter and Sean Lally will be having a much anticipated rematch but this time for the title.  McPhatter trains with Shift MMA and comes into this fight with a 9-9 record with 2 by ko/tko, 5 subs and 2 by decisions.  For his losses, he lost 3 by ko/tko, 3 by submission and 3 by decision.  In the first fight between them Lally won the unanimous decision but many were stunned and thought McPhatter won.  The rematch is going down once again and we will find out who is the better of the two.  His opponent is Sean Lally and he trains out of Juniko.  He comes into this fight with a 7-2 record with 5 wins by ko/tko, 1 submission and 1 by decision.  He lost his 2 fights by submission.  This fight needs no hype if it just like their last war.  I can't wait!

135 PRO Seth Basler (3-6 Independence Fight Club) vs. Manny Bermudez (10-0 SSSF)

Manny Bermudez was supposed to be fighting Mike Hernandez but today it was announced that he had to drop out due to family emergency.  Luckily Seth Basler stepped in on a few days notice so this one is no longer a title fight but it is a go!  Basler trains with Independence Fight Club and comes into this fight with a 3-6 record with 1 by ko/tko and 2 by submission.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko, 2 by submission and 3 by decision.  His opponent is Manny Bermudez and he trains out of SSSF.  He comes into this fight with a perfect 10-0 record with 1 by ko/tko, 7 submissions and 2 by decision.  Basler is looking to play the upset here but I think if it gets to the ground Manny is going to be going home 11-0!
