Portland, Maine (October 5, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns to Aura in Portland, Maine on Saturday, November 12, 2022, with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 50.” Earlier today the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional catchweight bout to the card. Justin Kangas (0-0) is scheduled to meet Brian Cosco (0-1) at a fight weight of 165 pounds.
Justin Kangas has made it clear that the fight with Cosco will be his final trip to the MMA cage. He has chosen to move up to the professional ranks for his swan song after four amateur fights dating back to 2019. Most recently, Kangas was victorious over Jon Assam (2-4) by split decision earlier this year at “NEF 46.” He represents First Class MMA based in Brunswick, Maine.
“I'm excited to have Brian as my final opponent in the cage,” noted Kangas. “He is a veteran of the cage that will push me to be the best version of myself. Brian is a humble and respectful martial artist that poses a lot of threat. I will need to be in peak condition to rise up to the challenge and plan to put in the work that will allow me to meet that challenge. I look forward to sharing the cage with him.”
Brian Cosco is indeed a well-seasoned veteran of the MMA cage with 17 fights as an amateur stretching all the way back to 2011. At “NEF 48” last summer, Cosco made his professional debut in a losing effort against Matt Denning (6-14). He will now look for his first win as a pro in the fight with Kangas. Cosco represents both Brazilian Top Team and Sityodtong.
“November 12th, I’ll be stepping back in the cage,” said Cosco. “After my last fight, I was having serious doubts if I’d ever make that walk again, but I’m all in for this one. Justin’s coming off a win and trains out of a good gym in Maine. I’m hungry to get my first win as a pro and even my professional record to 1-1.”
“NEF 50” is scheduled for Saturday, November 12 at Aura in Portland, Maine. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with first fight taking place at 7 p.m. Tickets are available now at TicketMaster.com.
