📰 NEWS--📰 LACEY RETURNING HOME TO BANGOR TO FACE TRAHAN IN REMATCH

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Bangor, Maine (January 10, 2023) – New England Fights (NEF) returns to the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine on February 11, 2023, with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 51: Banger in Bangor.”  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional featherweight fight to the card. Aaron “Relentless” Lacey (7-4) is scheduled to meet Taylor Trahan (7-9) at a fight weight of 145 pounds.

Aaron Lacey makes his long-awaited return home to compete in Bangor for the first time since “NEF 35” in September 2018.  That night, he defeated Jon Lemke (7-9) via submission in the first round in front of a crowd filled with friends and family.  Lacey would not fight again until early 2022 at “NEF 46” when he would defeat Jerome Mickle by second-round technical knockout.

Lacey and Trahan previously met at “NEF 26” in 2016 with Lacey picking up the win in the first round after a referee stoppage due to an injury to Trahan.  Lacey currently represents Nostos MMA in Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under head coach, UFC veteran, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (10-5).

“Dear Bangor,” started Lacey, “you spoke and the fight gods listened! February 11th this relentless ride is coming home! I’m so stoked to be fighting in my hometown for the first time in almost four years. (NEF owners) Matt (Peterson) and Nick (DiSalvo) were once again amazing to work with and they got me a killer match up! February is my month when it comes to fighting and once again this is a fight you do not want to miss! Taylor and I have squared off before and I am doing everything within my power to make sure this fight ends more definitively than the first one. Bangor is my home, but my fight camps are spent at Nostos MMA. The Powell’s and the rest of the Nostos ninjas have made me feel so incredibly welcome! I am so stoked to share the card with four absolute studs of teammates. February 11th the “Banger in Bangor” will be a night when we, Nostos, will be collecting belts, winning main events and putting on fight of the night performances! Get your tickets ready, get your beer ready, and get your popcorn out because this is going to be some f**king entertainment!

“Love, Relentless”

Taylor Trahan is no stranger to longtime NEF fans.  As previously mentioned, Trahan battled Lacey at “NEF 26.”  In 2016, he submitted Matt Denning (8-17) in the first round of their fight at “NEF 25.”  His most recent NEF appearance, and most recent MMA fight overall, took place at “NEF 32” when Trahan lost via third-round submission to Bruce Boyington (17-12) in February 2018.  Trahan is coming to Bangor looking to avenge his first loss to Lacey.

“I’m excited to be back with NEF, it’s a great place to fight for,” said Trahan.  “I’m looking forward to this rematch with Aaron. Last time we fought, I didn’t like how that sat with me and I’m just looking forward to come out and throw down again.”

“NEF 51: Banger in Bangor” is scheduled for Saturday night, February 11, 2023, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.  Tickets are available now at www.TicketMaster.com.
