πŸ“° NEWS--πŸ“° LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE IS UP FOR GRABS AT NEF 51 IN BANGOR

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Bangor, Maine (January 6, 2023) – New England Fights (NEF) returns to the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine on February 11, 2023, with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 51: Banger in Bangor.”  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur title fight to the card.  Ed Davis (2-0) will meet Kyle Pufahl (4-1) for the vacant NEF Amateur Lightweight Championship.

Ed Davis made his NEF amateur debut last summer at “NEF 48” in Portland, Maine with a second-round technical knockout victory over Joe Peters (1-3) in an absolute slugfest.  Davis returned at “NEF 50” this past November, defeating Patrick Mitchell (1-1) a minute into the first round by technical knockout.  He will look to capture the 155-pound amateur title on February 11 and, in doing so, remain undefeated.  Davis represents Titan Athletics located in nearby Brewer, Maine.

“I’m super excited to be fighting for the strap on February 11th,” said Davis. “Kyle is a super game opponent who comes to scrap. I think the NEF fans are in for a treat with this one.  Everyone loves a fight when two dogs come to scrap! And bringing the belt home will be a great start to a busy year! Let’s go to war!”

Kyle Pufahl needed only five-seconds to knock out his opponent in his amateur debut in 2021 on a fight card in Florida.  After back-to-back wins in the Sunshine State to start his amateur career, Pufahl made his first appearance in a New England cage at “NEF 44” in Milford, New Hampshire.  He won by second-round technical knockout that night against Ryan Savage (0-3).  In 2022, Pufahl suffered his first loss before winning a regional title on a fight card in New Hampshire last November.  He represents Nostos MMA based in Somersworth, New Hampshire.

“I'm super excited to fight,” exclaimed Pufahl. “A championship belt on the line just adds more to the stakes. I've been to Bangor before to watch my teammates perform before and I can't wait to actually be in the cage and to feel the energy from the crowd. Ed is a great opponent and winning that belt would be a great steppingstone for the future and setting the tone for the year by ending my amateur career.”

“NEF 51: Banger in Bangor” is scheduled for Saturday night, February 11, 2023, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.  Tickets are available now at www.TicketMaster.com.
