NEF is back with their 59th event to date. This show is taking place at Club Aura in Portland Maine. They have a solid card with 12 fights which are sure to please the crowd. The refs are John English and Dale Hart and the judges are Scott Mellen, Mike Collins and Bill McKinnon. The time keeper is Matt Douglas and Claire Rose Cunningham who did an excellent job for just 14 years old! Please follow along as I recap the night.

145 AM Billy Henry (First Class MMA) vs. Sean Rubchinuk (Nostos)
Rd 1: They start out swinging. Billy keeps trying for a takedown but Sean defends it well. He tries again and Sean stuffs it once and gets in a few body punches. Billy finishes the takedown and is in guard as the round ends.

Rd 2: Sean comes out and gets in some solid combos right off the bell. Billy goes down to the mat and Sean finishes him off with a few more strikes.

Rd 1: They start out banging. Ben gets hit with a right that stuns him and he comes right back and rocks Jay. He is all over Jay trying to get the finish. He connects with a big right and that rocks Jay again and gets the finish.

Rd 1: Jake gets a guillotine but can't get the finish. Roy takes him down and is in guard. He is on top for about 2 minutes and he gets pushed off as the round is about to end.

Rd 2: Evrit gets the quick takedown and is in guard. Jake is trying for an armbar but can't get the arm free. Evrit controls the rest of the round on top.

Rd 3: Jake gets the takedown and Evrit has the butterfly. They both threaten with leg locks for a bit until the round ends.

Rd 1: They both start out swinging. They fall to the mat and David lands on top in full mount. Cody does a good job at minimizing damage.

Rd 2: Hart gets the slam. Action is paused to check the cut from Dular. The fight resumes and David controls the fight on top.

Rd 3: David connects with a right that drops Cody. He gets in some hammerfists and gets the ref stoppage.

Rd 1: They clinch and Hussin gets the takedown. He has Evan's back briefly before they get back to their feet. Hussin gets hit with an illegal knee to the head. Action resumes and Evans is getting in some good strikes.
Close round, Al-Saadi 10-9
Rd 2: They both work their strikes and its another even fight. Evans misses with a spinning kick and Hussin gets the takedown as the round ends.

Rd 1: Both fighters being cautious. Troy gets the takedown. He is dropping some fists from the top. He controls the rest of the round on top.

Rd 2: Ben gets the takedown and goes right into mount. Something happened and ref stood them up, maybe a fence grab. Ben presses Troy up against the cage as the round ends.

Rd 3: Troy gets the takedown and gets in a few punches from the top. Troy gets a guillotine but can't get the finish. He takes the back and is trying for rear naked choke. He gets the tap.

This wraps up another NEF event in the books. The fight card didn't have the biggest names on this one but the card was a spectacular one with so many close battles and fights going the distance. Another thing I loved during this event they announced 4 upcoming fights for their next event. Nothing gets the fight fans more excited than knowing a few battles that are coming next for their November show. November 9th will be their 60th event and it will be in Bangor Maine. It is shaping up to be a huge event for NEF to finish the year. Special thanks to NEF for putting on a great show and allowing us to cover it.
