Cage Titans United Press Release Featuring Full Fight Card

Cage Titans just released a press release and shared it with us...check it out!!

"On Saturday, September 10th 2011 Cage Titans Fighting Championship will be putting on its next event at Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth, MA. For those of you who haven’t witnessed an event at this facility, it features stadium seating all the way around with awesome views no matter where you sit and is hands-down the best venue in New England to watch fights! Cage Titans is also excited to be in Plymouth for their first time ...and so proud to be bringing MMA back to America’s Hometown on the 10th Anniversary of September 11th. In honor of this they have named the show ‘United’ and have some unbelievable fights lined up for you!

Featured Fights:

The Main Event features a battle for the 145lb Pro Title between the 4th ranked Featherweight in New England, Cage Titans FC current champion Bill Jones (9-4) from Team KAOS and challenger, Frank Sforza (5-0 overall, 2-0 Pro) from South Shore Sportfighting. Champ Jones, is a very well rounded fighter and it shows in his record as 4 out of his nine wins were via submission and 3 were via TKO/KO. As for Sforza, the former 4x All American wrestler was the first ever Cage Titans FC’s 145lb Amateur champion before going pro and capturing CageFX’s title in only his second pro fight. Both these guys are extremely powerful and have an explosive ground game in their arsenal; this definitely will live up to the main attraction billing!

In a #1 Contender fight we have Joe DeChaves (4-3) from The Jungle MMA taking on Jimmy Davidson (5-0 overall, 2-0 Pro) out of Sityodtong. DeChaves, a former Marine, was last seen in the cage picking up a huge win over top ten ranked Luis Felix and in addition to fighting for a chance to get a title shot, will be fighting for a special cause. Earlier this year, his best friend Derek Vassal died tragically in a car accident leaving behind his pregnant fiancΓ©e Lisa, so he took this fight as a way to honor them. As for Davidson, he was a stand-out wrestler at close by Sandwich High School and usually makes quick work of his opponents, finishing all but 1 of them. The winner of this will have ‘Notorious’ Nick Newell waiting and will face him for the vacant 155lb pro title at the next event.

Next up we have two Cage Titans FC veterans going to war! American Fight Team’s Barrington ‘Rude Boy’ Douse (8-11) has fought for Cage Titans on all but 1 of their cards and has proved to be a fan favorite with his exciting and unique fighting style. Currently ranked #8 in New England, Douse has taken on every big name New England has had to offer and has never turned down a fight. His opponent, Johnny ‘Cupcakes’ Campbell out of South Shore Sportfighting, also fought on all but 1 of Cage Titans’ shows and is equally as popular for his performances in the cage. Campbell (8-1 overall, 3-1 Pro) has only had one fight leave the first round and is looking to crack the Top 10 with a victory. Many are calling for this to be not only a Fight of the Night candidate but Fight of the Year and is definitely one that Cage Titans fans won’t want to miss.

Two highly regarded and ranked amateurs, Robby Slade and Andre Soukhamthath face-off in this next pro fight. Slade out of Lauzon MMA went 4-0 as an ammy (now 1-0 as a pro) and Soukhamthath from Team United at one point was ranked as the #1 ammy at 145lbs and fought in two title fights in two different promotions. For his pro debut, Soukhamthath is dropping to 135lbs and said that Slade is a tough opponent and is looking to make a statement in the 135lb division.

Keegan Hornstra of Team KAOS/Recluse BJJ will be making his pro debut against Cape Cod Fighting Alliance’s Fernando Perez at 155lbs. Hornstra is a former boxer who transitioned to MMA and makes it no secret that he would love if someone would stand in the center of the cage and trade with him. Perez is a very tough veteran who is a purple belt in BJJ and has trained in Thailand for his stand up. It is said that Perez loves to bang, so let’s see if Keegan’s gets his wish for a slugfest.

In a featured amateur fight, the vacant 145lb Ammy Title (Vacated by Sforza when he went pro) will be up for grabs with ‘Crazy’ Eddie Lee from Sityodtong going toe to toe with Cory Pickering out of South Shore Sportfighting. These fighters have a lot in common, both come from schools considered the best in New England, both have a 3-0 record, both are top 10 ranked and most of all, both want this belt!

One other featured amateur fight…Former Cage Titans 155lb Ammy champion and #3 ranked in New England, Joe Pingitore (7-3) will be making his debut in the 145lb division verse Brandon Flemming (5-0) out of South Shore Sportfighting. Flemming is no easy opponent to welcome Joe to the new weight class as he was the 5th ranked ammy in New England at 145lbs before he took the past 6 months off from fighting due to enlisting in the National Guard. Pingitore has said that he believes Flemming has more to proven then he does, and he sees this fight ending with his opponent taking a nap on the floor of the cage.
